Chapter 13 Conflicts among Children

Chapter 13 Conflicts among Children

Malfoy leaned against the door and said in his characteristic, deliberately drawn-out tone: "Hello again, Ivy."

Ivy glanced at him and continued what he had not finished saying: "...and what Slytherin values most - ambition."

Hearing him say this, Malfoy wanted to refute, but in the end he just pursed his lips. Ivy greeted him: "Good afternoon, Draco. These two are..."

Ivy looked at the two little fat guys behind him.

"Oh, this is Crabbe, and this is Goyle." Malfoy's attitude seemed very casual, and then he raised his chin towards the others in the compartment, "It seems that you have new friends too, introduce them to us."

"The one with black hair is Harry Potter, the one with red hair is Ron Weasley, the lady next to me is Hermione Granger, and the one standing behind Crabbe and Goyle is Neville Longbottom." Ivy mentioned the names of several people one by one as an introduction.

The young wizards in the crowded cubicle nodded to each other, and Ron and Malfoy looked at each other with considerable disdain.

"Harry Potter." Malfoy read slowly, "A well-known name, everyone said you were in this carriage... But you have to pay attention, whether it is about the college or about... friends (speaking of this, Malfoy glanced at Ivy carefully), you always have better choices."

"Hmph!" Ron expressed his dissatisfaction with a nasal sound. "Are you talking about yourself or Slytherin? Come on, everyone knows which house the You-Know-Who is from."

"Voldemort is a Slytherin?" It was Harry who asked the question, and when he said the name, everyone in the compartment almost gasped.

"What's wrong?" Harry asked puzzled.

Ron shouted, "You said that name! Everyone usually refers to him as 'You-Know-Who'! I knew... you're the only one who has the courage!"

"People believe that the You-Know-Who's name has been cast into an evil black magic by him, and anyone who pronounces his name will be cursed by him. That's why he is referred to as 'You-Know-Who'." Hermione answered Harry's doubts considerately.

"Harry! You will definitely be sorted into Gryffindor!" Ron continued, "Ivy has just said that courage is the quality that Gryffindor values most!"

"Just because I said the name of the You-Know-Who?" Harry thought it was a bit funny.

"In fact, I have to explain something." Ivy interrupted, "There is no distinction between the four major colleges, and no matter which college we belong to, we are all members of Hogwarts. Slytherin will not be condemned by everyone just because a notorious dark wizard has emerged. And more than a hundred years ago, I was a member of Slytherin."

Ivy took out his wand and tapped his shoulder. With his movement, the T-shirt on his body once again turned into the gorgeous Slytherin relic robe.

"Wow——" The appearance of the robe caused a lot of exclamations.

"You didn't cast any spells!" Hermione discovered the blind spot. "Is this also ancient magic?"

"No, this is the magical effect of the robe I'm wearing. It automatically cleans itself, maintains body temperature, and transforms the suit." Ivy turned around on the spot, showing every aspect of the robe.

"Wait! You said you were a Slytherin a hundred years ago?" Malfoy noticed what Ivy said. "Ha! You must not know? Ivy is an ancient wizard who went to school at Hogwarts more than a hundred years ago!" Ron immediately jumped out to attack Malfoy.

"Idiot!" Malfoy just cursed at him without further entanglement. He then looked at Ivy and asked, "Then you must know how the Sorting is done? I must be in Slytherin! If I'm sorted into Gryffindor, I'll drop out immediately and go to Durmstrang!"

"Forget about it! Gryffindor will never accept an arrogant and narrow-minded idiot like you!" Ron also replied, "But if I knew the test questions in advance, maybe I could be sorted into Gryffindor... George and Fred actually said we have to fight the troll in a duel!"

"I think this is cheating! You shouldn't tell them." Hermione wanted to put an end to cheating in exams and tried to stop Ivy from revealing the sorting test questions.

"Come on, Miss Rabbit Teeth, no one is asking for your opinion here!" Malfoy had no time to respond to Ron's provocation, so he had to spray venom at Hermione, the last person to speak.

"I mean... if I can guarantee that I won't be expelled from Hogwarts..." Harry seemed a little hesitant. Having always lived in the Muggle world, the thing he feared most was being forced to leave this new and strange world. Which college he would be assigned to was not within his consideration for now.

Even Neville, Goyle and Crabbe, the three fat boys who hadn't said a word, looked at Ivy with expectant eyes.

Ivy sighed: "Well... I have to say, that is a memory that I am quite reluctant to recall..." At this point, he shook his head, "But due to regulations, I can't tell you the specific content... But I can be sure that it will cause great harm to some of us!"

"It's like this again!" Malfoy pouted in dissatisfaction, "Everyone who knows is unwilling to tell me the truth! Mom just shook her head, and Dad told me not to ask too much!"

"Do we really have to fight the giant monster in a one-on-one duel?" Ron hoped that Ivy would say "no".

"That's impossible!" Unfortunately, these words came out of Hermione's mouth, "It must be an exam! Using grades to determine the destinations of little wizards like us!"

"But Ivy said that there is no superiority or inferiority among the four major colleges. If we rank them by grades, how can we guarantee that you can go to the college you want?" asked Harry, who attended elementary school in a Muggle school.

"Perhaps those with better grades can get the right to choose freely? And those with worse grades can only passively accept it?" Hermione shook her head. "Although it's pleasant to chat with you, I have to go to review. I have to make sure I can get into Gryffindor or Ravenclaw."

Goyle and Crabbe, who were blocking the door, carefully made way for her out of respect for the top student, which allowed Hermione to see Neville who had been standing outside the door.

"Oh! Neville! We are here to help you find a toad!" Hermione recalled her purpose in surprise, "... maybe we can... no, let's try to help you look for it again."

Hermione hesitated for a moment, but chose the latter between reviewing and helping her friend.

But Neville rejected her suggestion: "Raifu is on the train... He will come back soon. On the contrary, reviewing is more important... If you can allow me to watch from the side..."

"Great! Let me help you with your review!" Hermione's joy was beyond words. She pulled Neville back to their compartment.

Before leaving, she turned back and said, "We don't have much time left. I think it's more important for you to change into your school uniforms as soon as possible, so as to avoid being in a hurry when the time comes."
