Chapter 24 Scribes Association

Chapter 24 Scribes Association

If one spell doesn't work, try another.

Ivy spent some time familiarizing himself with the spell models of the other three tricks. In his opinion, they were not complicated things, but like the Mage's Hand, the completed spell models failed at the moment before casting.

Ivy did not continue to try, but looked at his wand. When a DND wizard casts a spell, in addition to spell knowledge and corresponding spell slots, he also needs an arcane magic tool as a medium for casting spells.

I thought my wand could play a corresponding role as an arcane weapon, but now it seems that this may not be the case.

So besides the magic wand, what else can be used as an arcane weapon? Ivy moved his sight to the Grimoire of Destruction.

"Success!" Ivy looked at the dark blue translucent palm floating in front of him and shouted with joy. The last time he was so happy was when he successfully released "Avada Eats the Big Melon" for the first time!
Now that he was able to cast the spell successfully, Ivy immediately checked his attribute panel on the cover of the Grimoire of Destruction again.

He clearly discovered that in the "Occupation/Level" column, after the 15th-level wizard and the 10th-level ancient magic wizard, there was another entry - the 0th-level scribe and mage.

"Scribe Society?" To be honest, Ivy didn't remember having seen this entry. Because the rules of the DND series changed a lot in each version, there were countless strange spellcasting professions and their variants and sub-professions, and Ivy's knowledge of DND was limited to various video games.

Aside from a few professions whose names sounded too cool, Ivy didn't remember too many entries about professions. Scribes and mages were obviously not in his memory.

Ivy focused his mind on the entry for the Scribes' Mage, and the Grimoire of Destruction immediately and automatically displayed a lot of information about this profession.

It turns out that the Scribe Mage is a sub-profession of the Mage under the DND5 version rules, and its core feature is the magical spell book.

"In other words, using books to cast spells is a prerequisite for this sub-profession?" Ivy rubbed his chin, but because he was too young and had no stubble yet, he was very uncomfortable with it, so he finally put his hand down.

But a new problem arises. The feat that Ivy has already selected on the character panel, which is the spellcasting material-free feat, is not a universal feat under the DND5 rules.

Professions and specialties belong to two different versions of the rules. If this happens in a group game, it will definitely drive the DM (game host) crazy!

But magic is so magical, Ivy did it unscientifically but magically! Although it was completely relying on the power of the golden finger, who can deny that the cheating was not his own effort?
Ivy continued to read the professional abilities of the Scribes' mages in the Grimoire of Destruction.

"When a Scribe Mage reaches Level 2, he will obtain the Mage's Pen and Awakening Grimoire." Ivy read out this line of words. This is the first professional ability of a Scribe Mage.

The Mage's Pen is a magic feather pen created by magic. It has the characteristics of not needing to dip in ink, automatically changing the color of handwriting, automatically writing, erasing handwriting, and halving the time of transcribing spells. "A painting style professional ability." Ivy nodded, fully understanding the function of the Mage's Pen.

The so-called painting style professional ability is the professional ability that distinguishes the characteristics of each profession when playing a TRPG group. Because a TRPG group is actually more like an adventure story written by all players and DM, everyone has to play his own role.

In order to make the characters in the story more vivid and interesting, the game designers have designed many unique professional abilities for players.

For example, in a TRPG game that Ivy played not long before his time travel, he played a role as a magician who had a set of magic armor made by himself. Whenever fighting, Ivy would let his magician open his palm to aim at the enemy, use magic power to activate the sapphire in the armor, and then shoot a lightning bolt to COS Iron Man.

Although the damage is only 1 to 6 points, it still looks cool! Just imagine how cool it would be to COS Iron Man in the magic world!
Therefore, this type of ability is called painting style professional ability by players, and is generally used as a cool and pretentious means to highlight personal characteristics.

However, in this real world, the Wizard's Pen is obviously not nothing but cool. At least Ivy can use it to deal with the homework assigned by professors. A feather pen that can synchronize with the owner's thoughts and automatically record is so cool!

Let’s take a look at the Awakening Grimoire.

First, it strengthens the connection between the mage and the spellbook, allowing the spellbook to become an arcane tool that can be used to cast spells. Ivy's Destruction Grimoire obviously already has this feature.

Secondly, the Awakening Grimoire can change the damage type of a spell, and can replace the spell being released with a spell of the same level of damage as the spell being released.

This almost means that Ivy can change the damage type of the spell at will, because for a mage, what he lacks the least is spells of various damage types!
Just think how awesome a Fireball that deals necrotic or psychic damage would be!
And Ivy remembered that a similar ability seemed to have appeared in the previous rules of DND. It was the professional ability of the advanced professional archmage, the "higher arcane ability" obtained by permanently consuming a spell slot.

By consuming an 8th-level spell slot, you can gain an ability similar to the "Awakening Grimoire" - elemental control. When casting a spell, the archmage can replace the element type of the spell itself with an element type specified by himself.

Note that elemental control replaces the element type of the spell, that is, elemental transformations such as fire into water, water into thunder, and transformations among the types of acid, ice, fire, electricity, and thunder.

The Awakening Grimoire can provide a change in damage types, including force field, fire, light, acid, poison, lightning, thunder, eclipse, freezing and mind, a total of ten different types of damage, which is a huge challenge for the enemy's resistance.

This one thing alone is enough to surpass the archmage's control over elements.

At the same time, the Awakening Grimoire has a third benefit, which is that it can use normal casting time to replace ritual casting. In other words, he can use a spell to replace the cumbersome magic ritual. Although it can only be used once a day, it is also a very practical ability.

"It seems that the Awakening Grimoire is the core professional ability of the Scribe Club Mage." Ivy nodded and secretly made up his mind to work hard to become a "Level 2 Scribe Club Mage" first!
