Chapter 302 Letter

After the third-year final exams, the hall was already full of people coming for dinner, including Harry, Ron and Hermione.

"This year's Quidditch World Cup is being held in the UK." Ron, who was sitting at the dining table, stared at Malfoy, who was sitting at another long table, with envy. "Malfoy's father became a high-ranking official in the ministry, and now he always looks down on people when he walks."

"Quidditch World Cup?" Harry didn't remember ever hearing the name, even though the news had been circulating around them for a long time.

Ever since Ivy came back, Harry's mind has been on his parents who are about to be resurrected.

After the Potters were resurrected, he focused all his attention on reviewing. The motivation of not disappointing his parents always pushed him forward. Even Hermione, who had used a time converter for a whole school year, was surprised at his motivation.

"Yes, it's the world's Quidditch sport, a grand gathering for all Quidditch players!" Ron said fascinatedly. "The schedule is a full two months! It just covers our summer vacation, but the group stage has never been very popular, so there won't be many people watching. But on the day of the final, the viewing venue will definitely be packed with people!"

"A sea of people?" Hermione expressed her doubt. She thought that even if all the wizards in Britain were added together, there might not be more Muggles than in a small city. Therefore, even if the scope was expanded to the whole world, the number of wizards would not be that much.

"I don't know the exact number, but it's definitely over 10!" Ron held up ten fingers, trying to scare Hermione.

Unexpectedly, she just nodded calmly and said, "This number is indeed quite high."

Ron was a little disappointed with Hermione's bland reaction and turned his head back to stare at Malfoy.

"Why are you always staring at Malfoy?" Harry followed Ron's gaze towards the Slytherin table. Even after finishing his final exams, Ivy did not sit at the table. It was just that the news that he had returned from his study abroad had already spread throughout Hogwarts.

"Oh, his dad's the head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation, remember?" Ron explained. "That's the department that deals with international affairs like this, so he'll be able to get a ticket. I hear the Minister's Box on the top floor is really luxurious!"

Harry wasn't too concerned with the luxury of the box, but was thinking about the possibility of going to the Quidditch World Cup with his parents.

But when Harry thought about how they and Sirius still owed Ivy money, he felt that he shouldn't expect such high consumption.

But it's still okay to listen to some news from Ron to satisfy your curiosity.

"The competition lasts for two months. Where will so many wizards live?" Harry asked curiously. Hermione closed the book and listened with her ear tilted. She was also curious about how wizards traveled, especially in such a large-scale event that lasted for a long time. It should be impossible for wizards to travel between the stadium and their homes every day.

"Maybe there's a magical inn or something?" Hermione expressed her opinion.

"A magical inn? What's that? A branch of the Leaky Cauldron?" Ron was obviously amused. "Of course wizards live in tents! The kind that can accommodate a lot of people! I think it's very interesting. If we can go to the Quidditch World Cup, we can see that kind of thing!"

"Living near the stadium for two months?" Hermione looked at Ron disapprovingly. "How are you going to finish your summer homework?"

"Bring your summer homework, of course," said Ron nonchalantly.

"From what I know about you, you definitely won't remember to do your summer homework." Hermione had an expression that said, "I've seen through you a long time ago."

"Hey!" Harry said to attract their attention, "You know what? I'm going to get rid of the Dursleys once and for all!"

"Really?" Ron said in surprise, "You should have lived with Sirius a long time ago! My mother was worried that you would blow up the kitchen!"

"Congratulations!" Hermione said sincerely. Although she had never met Harry's aunt and uncle, she could judge the family's virtues just from the letters Harry wrote during the summer vacation.

Just as Harry was about to continue speaking, he saw a beautiful fiery red bird on the long table - Phoenix Spark.

"Oh!" Harry exclaimed, "It's Ivy's Phoenix!"

"There's another letter!" Ron pointed at a formal-looking envelope in the Phoenix's mouth.

The gorgeous golden-red bird placed the letter in front of Harry, flapped its wings and flew away. Everyone in the hall saw the sparks it left behind as it flew.

"Open it and take a look!" Ron said impatiently, "See what Ivy told you again?"

"We should let Harry read it first, and then decide whether it is appropriate for us to know." Hermione was much calmer. She had just spent a safe semester at Hogwarts without any accidents, and was now very satisfied with this kind of life.

"Don't worry, Hermione. This is from Ivy and the three of us." Harry pointed to the recipients on the envelope. There were indeed three very formal names filled in: Harry James Potter, Ronald Bilius Weasley, and Hermione Jane Granger.

"What is this? An invitation to the ball?" Ron laughed. "No one has ever written my name on an envelope before! Of course, letters from Hogwarts don't count. I guess the house-elf did it for me."

For kids of Ron's age, any behavior that treats them as adults will win their favor. It was for this reason that Ivy wrote their names on the envelopes.

"It's Professor McGonagall who writes to us every summer!" Hermione glared at Ron. "Don't you ever read the whole letter?"

"These are tickets for the Quidditch World Cup!" Harry pulled out a bunch of colorful papers from the box, "Enough for us to bring our whole family!"

"Oh my God!" Ron exclaimed, holding his head. "He's so generous! Look at what kind of box it is?"

"It's definitely not the Minister's Box." Hermione picked up the letter that fell out with the World Cup tickets. "It said it was a quiet private box. He didn't think we would like to sit with bored adults."

"I could really use a little family time," Harry admitted, mentally thinking this was a good opportunity to introduce Mom and Dad to his friends.

"This is a package!" Ron cheered again, attracting the attention of others in the auditorium. "Starting from the most exciting quarterfinals! All the way to the final day!"

"So, we have to prepare a tent?" Hermione nodded, then asked, "Where should I buy this thing? Is it expensive?"

"I don't know either." Ron shrugged and began to search for parchment in his schoolbag. Fortunately, the last exam today was History of Magic, otherwise he would never carry a schoolbag during the holidays. "But I think we should write to our family and ask them. Maybe they can have better suggestions."

"Which team should we support?" Harry asked a more pointed question. Since it was not a club competition within the British wizarding world, Harry couldn't just blindly choose Ron's favorite Chudley Cannons.

"We have four teams!" Ron wasn't worried at all, "There must be one that can make it to the finals, right?"

In keeping with the United Kingdom's long-standing separatist tendencies, all Commonwealth member states are allowed to send their own teams to participate in sporting events.

So even in the British Isles, the UK can send four teams, namely Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England.

Harry and Hermione were shocked, and then decided to support the one with the best results. If two teams had the same results, they would give them equal support. "Okay, we can't go to the Quidditch World Cup until August!" Hermione put away the tickets on the table and put them back into the envelope. "Have you two finished eating? Now let's compare our answers!"

Ron and Harry looked at each other and simultaneously turned their attention back to the dinner on the table.

----

In addition to the trio who were cheering because of Ivy's letter, Ivy himself was staring at the envelope in front of him with a confused look.

It was an envelope that seemed to be constantly changing. Five colors, blue, green, red, white and black, were constantly alternating, outlining all kinds of mysterious patterns. There were fractal structures belonging to geometry, wonderful fragments of beautiful poetry, fragments of past history, chaotic transmutation of gorgeous elements, and the mystery of life and death in the natural cycle.

The wax used to seal the envelope was a pattern of a five-pointed star and a five-petal flower overlapping each other. Ivy was sure that he had seen something similar before, in a textbook at Strixhaven College.

Ivy couldn't understand how this letter ended up on his desk.

You have to know that this is the Room of Requirement. Who could sneak in here so stealthily and place this letter in the most conspicuous place on the desk?
He was just out attending the last exam of his sixth year at Hogwarts, and when he came back he saw this thing. One can imagine his confusion and bewilderment.

Although he had heard of Strixhaven's educational mission and knew that this magic university was determined to recruit students from every corner of the multiverse, he really didn't know that they had the ability to invade a wizard's private space.

Could it be because of the textbooks he exchanged from the Tome of Destruction?
Ivy took down the textbooks of Treasure College from the bookshelf, checked them over and over again, and finally confirmed that there was indeed a positioning magic on them, but from his point of view, the person who left this magic on them was more like a librarian than the director of the admissions office.

That positioning magic only exists to facilitate positioning in the vast sea of bookshelves, and is not a magic used to determine the coordinates of the multiverse.

But to some extent, if there is a legendary wizard who is proficient in prophecy spells in Strijhaven, then it is indeed possible to deliver the envelope in front of him to Ivy.

Ivy calmed down. Although he didn't know how the teachers of Strijhaven recruited students, it was obviously impossible to ask students to cast spells themselves to go to school.

"The most likely scenario is that this is a letter with a teleportation spell attached that can teleport students directly to the universe where Strijhaven is located." Ivy thought for a while with his chin in his hand and finally came to this conclusion.

Since he didn't know what kind of action would trigger the possible teleportation spell, Ivy decided to check it first with the spell to detect magical auras.

Recently, Ivy discovered a new fifth-ring spell in the Grimoire of Destruction, called Magic Permanence.

Its effect is very simple, which is to transform certain spells with duration into permanent ones.

However, each time the magic effect is fixed, the caster must pay a certain amount of experience points.

The magic that Ivy is interested in is the third-ring prophecy magic, arcane vision.

Its effect is that the caster can see all the magical auras within 120 feet and know their strength and location. Moreover, this spell does not require the caster to maintain concentration. Once released, it will take effect for a long time. After being stabilized by the magic permanence spell, it can be turned on and off according to Ivy's thoughts.

The intensity of the magical aura that appears in the field of vision depends on the spellcasting ability of the spellcaster who releases the spell. If the magical aura is emitted by an item, the intensity of the aura depends on the spellcasting ability of the creator.

If there is no obstruction between the magical aura that appears in the field of vision and the caster of arcane vision, the caster can maintain concentration to determine the magic school of the relevant aura. Of course, the premise is that the caster has relevant knowledge.

If Ivy could keep this spell constant for himself, it would be quite easy for him to discover the magic items made by wizards because he had the knowledge of spells in this area.

And this spell can also work on living things, allowing Ivy to distinguish whether the creature in front of him has spellcasting ability or spell-like ability, how strong this ability is, and know the source of this spellcasting ability, also if Ivy has seen a similar source.

Constant Arcane Vision requires a total of one third-level spell slot and one fifth-level spell slot, as well as 1500 experience points.

Ivy originally wanted to wait until the exam was over so that he could keep this effect constant for himself. Now that he had received a letter from Strijhaven that he didn't know whether it contained any magic, he could experiment with the effect on the spot.

Sprinkling a handful of silver powder into the air, Ivy used his ability to control the breeze to make the silver powder fall to the ground and form a circular rune array.

The element he had been summoning these days had been the element of wind. Being able to fly was indeed a very useful ability. Now Ivy hardly used his legs to walk.

After performing the [Summoning Wind Element] many times, Ivy was able to use his will to influence the surrounding air and perform some precise operations such as drawing rune arrays.

Ivy's eyes glowed with blue light; his arcane vision had been successfully used. The strong magical aura in the Room of Requirement almost knocked him down.

Thinking "this is a bad idea", Ivy closed his eyes and cast the magic of constancy. The rune array had been prepared in advance, and now he only needed to pay a certain amount of experience points. The previous contribution of Voldemort's soul fragments finally came in handy.

Perhaps because Ivy often used the [Eye Spell] to store magic in his eyes, the effect of the arcane vision was stronger than Ivy had imagined, and it even came with a little bit of perspective effect. He could now see through relatively simple and thin materials such as wood and paper.

There are two kinds of magical auras on the letter from Strijhaven. The former is given to the surface of the envelope and is an illusion aura of ordinary strength, while the latter is emitted through the envelope and is a very strong spell. Only eighth-ring and ninth-ring spells have similar effects.

It's easy to guess that the illusion aura is used to decorate the envelope.

And the only eight or nine-ring spell Ivy could think of that had a similar effect to cosmic teleportation was the nine-ring Gate to Another World.

This spell is similar to the Arcane Gate that Ivy used when fighting Smaug, but the range of the portal is expanded to between two different planes. Other than that, the effects are basically similar, except that it only lasts for one minute.

If Ivy's guess is correct, then Strixhaven is a bit too extravagant. It actually uses the Nine-Ring Spell to recruit students!
What kind of magic were they going to teach in Strixhaven? Legendary spells?

Aren’t you afraid that these legendary spellcasters will start a campus brawl and blow up the entire school?
Ivy shook his head and carefully used telekinesis to turn the envelope over. As if inspired by Ivy's magic, a string of words that had never been seen before appeared in the blank space of the envelope:
“To discover and preserve magical knowledge, and pass it down from generation to generation; to advocate for the free and open learning of all forms of magic, and to improve the lives of people throughout the multiverse through the use of magic.”

——The mission of Strixhaven University of Magic

Below the school's mission statement is a string of smaller words:
"Dear Mr. Ivy Doom, congratulations on being admitted to Strixhaven University of Magic! This school is a multiverse magic university established in the Aquavivo space-time. It is committed to accepting students from different worlds, races, and cultures, and providing them with the best magic education..."

Ivy skipped over the self-congratulatory sentences commonly used by Muggle universities and saw the note on the last line:

"Once this envelope is mailed, it will remain valid until Ivy Doom opens it, dies, or loses the ability to cast spells. It contains a teleportation spell that can be triggered by peeling off the sealing wax."

This is actually an acceptance letter! An acceptance letter for a nine-ring spellcaster!
Before seeing these small words, Ivy also thought about the possibility that this was a letter of employment. A ninth-ring spellcaster should be able to be a doctoral supervisor even in a magic university, right?
Why do you still have to go to school?
However, since there was no set enrollment date, Ivy didn't need to rush at all. He had to clean up the wizarding world first. At least he had to get a Hogwarts diploma, right? He wanted to see if this magic university was really worthy of its name!
The admission letter from another world gave Ivy a lot of motivation. He couldn't wait to make Voldemort's head into a broken-mouth skull.
