Chapter 36 Portrait
"What does it mean that a painting gave birth to a painting?" Qin Feng couldn't help it.

"It's a painting that split out from that painting." Lian Gouqie was thinking about the second rabbit head. Wei Qin and others were full, so no one would compete with him for the rabbit head.

Wei Xi signaled Qin Feng not to interrupt, but Qin Feng resisted the urge and continued to listen to Lian Gou'e's story.

"The old city lord is quite knowledgeable, but this time he was really scared. But he's almost sixty years old, and he's buried up to his neck in the dirt. He only has this one son, so no matter how strange it is, he has to protect this child."

"He put the two paintings in his study. Who knew that when his four-year-old son sneaked into the study to play, he had a high fever that night."

"The old city lord quickly ordered people to investigate and learned that his beloved son had been to the study. He knew something was wrong and went to check. He found that the painting of the beauty was still the same, but the other painting was actually his son's current appearance."

"The old city lord was terrified and ordered his servants to throw the two paintings away."

"This servant secretly hid these two paintings, intending to sell them for money, and took them out of the City Lord's Mansion."

Lian Gouyue paused for a moment and continued, "Anyway, I am the painting that was created. When I regained consciousness, I crawled out of the painting and ran away with the scroll."

Lian Gou's story is so full of foreshadowing that he overlooks the main points. For example, what reward did the painter ask for? How did he transform from a painting into a human? How did he become a thief?
But Wei Xi was a practical man, and since Lian Gouqie had already explained what he was, there was no need to delve into insignificant details.

"So," Qin Feng wiped his hands, "you are a painting, and you don't drink water because you are afraid of water."

"I'm also afraid of fire and insect bites." Lian Gouqie ate the last bit of rabbit meat and pointed out the narrow-mindedness of Qin Feng.

“That’s in the alley.”

"I can blend into any place where there's room for painting," Gou Xie said, his tail almost cocked in triumph. "Walls, silk, cloth, paper, I can hide in anything."

"Amazing," Qin Feng praised. Then she remembered Lian Gouyu standing there this morning. "What about you this morning?"

"He thought he could go back into the painting." Wei Xi gave her own guess. It was rare for her to want to show off.

"You really are," Lian Gouyue shouted unconvincedly, "too smart to be good for others."

"Yes, I thought I could go back to the painting I started with. But who knew this was such a damn place. I can't go back at all. I can't even blend in. I've become mediocre."

"Wait," Qin Feng interrupted Lian Gou's disgusting self-pity, "Where is that painting of yours that isn't your real body?"

Lian Gou's eyes became alert, "Why are you asking so many questions? You are a daughter of an official family, don't be so unreasonable."

"You haven't met their father," Qin Feng said, as if reminiscing about something. "The court of Ju State is supported by all kinds of gossip."

No matter how Qin Feng pressed him, Lian Gou Xie just kept making jokes and refused to tell him where his real body was.

Wei Xi ignored the two of them. She was on the middle shift of the night watch anyway. She fell asleep on the moss carpet with her fur in her arms. She had an amazing sleep quality and had always fallen asleep as soon as she touched the pillow since she was a child.

To be honest, Wei Xi was not very worried about this secret realm. After all, the fact that Tiandi Sect allowed disciples from the Northern Frontier sects who were building their foundation to come in meant that the danger level of this secret realm was not that high.

The most urgent task is to find other monks in the secret realm and find out what their mission is in entering the secret realm so that we can get out.

Wei Xi was woken up by Lian Gou Ye. She looked at Lian Gou Ye's anxious face and thought something had happened.

"Wake up, something's wrong with this fucking swamp!"

Wei Xi's head was swollen, and she didn't quite understand what was going on. Lian Gou took the opportunity to pinch Wei Xi, avenging the slaps she had given him.

"Qin Feng, don't sleep! Be careful or you might get killed here!" Lian Gouqie saw Wei Xi woke up and went to shake Qin Feng again.

Qin Feng did not give Lian Gouwei a chance to retaliate against her. She woke up much faster than Wei Xi.

"Wei Xi! Wei Xi! What's going on?"

"You said you were the one on night watch, and my feet were almost burned!"

"I fell asleep?" Wei Xi finally saw Qin Feng's face clearly. Qin Feng knew something was wrong when he saw Wei Xi's drowsy look.

"Let's get out of here first." Lian Gouqie lit the torch in the fire and motioned for Qin Feng to put Wei Xi on his back. "It feels like the fog is coming from the swamp." "Is Wei Xi okay?"

"How would I know? Do you have any medicine? Give her a sip!"

"I only have medicine to treat injuries and medicine to send people down."

The first thing Wei Xi did when she was fully awake was to touch the people next to her. Seeing Qin Feng and Lian Gou Ye were there, she went to touch Ling Yin, and Ling Yin flapped her wings.

"Your bird is really weird," Lian Gouyue unscrewed the kettle and handed it to Weixi's mouth, "You were unconscious for so long, but it was fine."

"Where do you feel uncomfortable?" Qin Feng touched Wei Xi's forehead, very worried.

Wei Xi took a sip of water and shook his head.

"Come on, as long as the smartest person is okay." Lian Goulue, perhaps having told Wei Qin the truth, no longer pretended to be a street scoundrel. "We still have to rely on you to lead us out."

Qin Feng rolled her eyes at Lian Gou-ye. After confirming that Wei Xi was alright, she breathed a sigh of relief. "Fortunately, you're alright. Thanks to Lian Gou-ye. Otherwise, who knows what would have happened."

"No need to thank me for my kindness. Just give me enough spirit stones." Lian Gouqie stretched lazily. "But you are really thin and not strong enough. It's not hard for me to carry you. You know, I am just a piece of paper."

"What's going on?" Wei Xi asked.

"You flipped over, and we almost got three people killed." Lian Gouyue dodged Qin Feng's attack and said seriously, "Qin Feng was the first shift last night, but I almost got hit on the bottom of my foot, and that's when I woke up."

"When I woke up, I found you and Qin Feng both fast asleep. I wanted to wake you up to keep watch, but then I realized I couldn't wake you up."

"At this moment, I suddenly thought that maybe it wasn't Qin Feng who was slacking off, but we were the ones who were tricked."

Lian Gou's expression didn't seem fake. "I turned around and noticed fog had risen in the swamp. Just like I told someone before, don't go into the swamp at night."

Sometimes Qin Feng really wanted to slap Lian Gou-ye in the face, but she was indeed inconsiderate.

"An idea suddenly struck me," Lian Gouyue slapped his thigh, "I suspected it was the fog. I woke Qin Feng up and carried you on my back to escape the fog. Now it's daybreak, and you're awake too."

Wei Xi's face flushed red. She had made a complete mistake. The result of her carelessness was that she almost lost her life.

"So it's the swamp problem, then we have to change the route." Qin Feng didn't get a good rest, and huge dark circles were hanging under his eyes.

"Lian Gou is a painting, so he is not so deeply asleep. Qin Feng, you are in good health."

"Otherwise I'd say the bird you raise is weird," Lian Gou said. "When I use medicine on people, I usually look at their size. You've been unconscious for so long, and yet your bird is still alive. Tsk, tsk, tsk."

Lingyin screamed, and her dark little eyes stared at Lian Goujie. Lian Goujie raised his hands to acknowledge that he was just talking nonsense.

"Find someone to climb up the tree," Wei Xi looked at the big tree outside, "see what's there, and keep an eye out for other cultivators."

Wei Xi's words pointed out a way. Lian Goujie and Qin Feng played rock-paper-scissors, and in the end Lian Goujie lost and climbed up the tree.

Wei and Qin watched Lian Gouwei clumsily climb up the tree. After a while, Lian Gouwei's voice came from the treetops.

".Don't be afraid, you two," he said with a doubtful tone, "This is a portrait."

"What?" Wei Xi and Qin Feng said in unison, obviously not accepting Lian Gou's statement.

Lian Gouyu came down from the tree, clutching his crotch. "Remember that cave we crawled out of? The one full of white silk pupae?"

"Those are the eyes of the portrait."
