Chapter 37 Left Eye
"I don't quite understand what you're saying," Qin Feng sent a distress signal to Lian Gou and Wei Xi, "Wei Xi, how are you?"

Wei Xi was trying hard to convince himself to believe Lian Gouqie's words, and the latter also looked puzzled.

"A statue? An ornament?" Lian Gou-yu tried to describe what he saw. "Never mind."

Lian Gouqie picked up a small branch and began to scratch on the ground. He moved very quickly and in a moment, he had drawn a human face.

"Your painting skills are quite good," Qin Feng commented, "What kind of face is this?"

Wei Xi looked at Qin Feng, then at Lian Gou-ye's painting. To be honest, Wei Xi didn't know much about art, but she had a basic and simple aesthetic sense, and Lian Gou-ye's painting was indeed beautiful.

"You haven't seen my meticulous paintings yet. They're really beautiful."

"Is this the place where we crawled out?" Wei Xi asked, pointing to the right eye of the statue.

Lian Gouyu nodded. "Although it's blocked by flowers, grass, streams, rocks, and so on, I saw it the moment I saw the eyeballs. We're on a giant human statue, and I can only see the head. I don't see any signs of other people's activities."

"Only the white of the eye?" Wei Xi asked Lian Gouye, who grinned, "Of course there's a black pupil, right in the middle, lifeless, and average craftsmanship."

Thinking of Master Han's strange eyes, Wei Xi was a little looking forward to how Lian Gouqi would react if he met Master Han.

"Who is so perverted as to wrap the green-skinned monster in the eyes of the statue?" Qin Feng couldn't feel happy when he thought of those crawling ghosts.

"We came up by stepping on black silk cocoons," Wei Xi added.

Qin Feng and Lian Gou'e's expressions changed.

"I don't think about what other weird things are in there." Qin Feng announced, and Lian Gou Xie rarely agreed with her.

"What is this?" Qin Feng pointed at the line above his left eye. "A hand?"

Lian Gouqie nodded, "This person seems to be covering his eyes, and only his left eye. We are standing at the center of his brow now."

"This is the swamp that nearly cost us our lives," Lian Gouqie pointed at the statue's nose. "Luckily we changed lanes, otherwise we would have had to cross the swamp mountain."

The three people looked at the portrait and couldn't figure out who created such a secret place.

Wei Xi slept all night, but Qin Feng and Lian Gouqie tossed and turned for half the night. Wei Xi forced them to take a nap for half an hour so that they could still travel for two hours.

"You don't have enough energy to delay our search for people." Wei Xi showed his trump card, and the two of them didn't insist anymore and fell asleep leaning against the stone wall.

Wei Xi looked for some sweet potatoes and wild fruits around. Since she didn't read the book carefully, she only dared to pick things that she was sure were non-toxic.

When the two who were catching up on their sleep woke up, Weixi's sweet potatoes were roasted, and Lingyin spit out the seeds of the wild fruit. The three people and the bird ate while thinking about where to go.

Finally, Qin Feng made the final decision, and the three of them walked towards the left eye of the statue. After all, they were in such a strange place, and who knew whether there was a lens in the covered left eye.

"If all else fails, I can just follow the arm down. It's possible I'll run into other monks. With such a big head right here, won't they come over to take a look?"

Lian Gouyu thought of the green-skinned monster at the beginning and really didn't want to enter Zuo's eye. However, the secret realm was the area where cultivators excelled, so he could only hope that the average quality of the Qingcheng Sect's members was not as outrageous as the rumors in the martial arts world.

The three of them set out towards the palm at the left eye, keeping an eye out for any signs of monks from the Northern Frontier sects. Because the passage of time here was strange, Qin Feng shot a pheasant and stopped.

"It would be great if we had a fawn," Lian Gouyu said, consciously taking on the role of a barrier. "Roasted fawn meat is delicious."

"How long can you walk carrying a young deer?" Qin Feng put away his bow and arrow, and still had the mind to chat and laugh with Lian Gouqie.

Qin Feng made the worst-case scenario plan. If she never entered the immortal sect in her lifetime, it would be possible to make the bow and arrow into a magic weapon, but it would not be as reliable as practicing it by herself, and it would also consume a lot of energy.

Because of this, Qin Feng did not put down her bow and arrow. Her archery skills were taught by her mother, and she also learned from her grandfather. She had good accuracy and fast shooting speed, but she was still young and had limited arm strength, so she was always cautious.

After walking for an hour, the three of them arrived at the left eye. They originally wanted to climb directly onto the palm, but Wei Xi insisted on going to the left eye to take a look.

"What are you going there for?" Lian Gouyu was terrified by the memory of the monster, and naturally, he was extremely reluctant. Qin Feng had spent a lot of time with Wei Xi, and knew that she wasn't the type to get involved. As long as it didn't disturb her life, she could tolerate it. Now, Wei Xi insisted on going to check it out, perhaps there was something important.

Lian Gou couldn't resist the two men, so he could only hold the dagger and follow them to take a look at his left eye.

This place was also a cave, or more accurately, a large pit, roughly the shape of an eye socket. The eye was partially blocked by a finger, but standing at the edge, one could still see what was inside the pit.

Lian Gouqie was dragged by Qin Feng to go with Wei Xi to see what was in the pit.

The few people who had expected to see layers of black and white silk pupae were surprised to find that the right eye in this pit was different from the one they crawled out of.

This is an eye filled with water. The center of the eyeball is filled with dark water, while the white part of the eye is clear lake water.

That’s right, this is an eye-shaped lake, with clear black and white, a pool of autumn water.

"Don't tell me something will come out of the water." Lian Gou said, holding the dagger in his hand.

"Why didn't something in the lake drag you down?" As soon as Wei Xi finished speaking, Lian Gouye retreated repeatedly.

"Don't tease him," Qin Feng said, his eyes still on the lake. "He's afraid of water, fire, and insect bites. Why scare him?"

"Why did you insist on looking at your left eye just now?" Qin Feng was quite curious.

Wei Xi shrugged her shoulders. She was still used to expressing her thoughts through body language. In other words, she didn't know either, she just wanted to take a look.

"Then let's go, don't just stand here," Lian Goujie urged. "I can escape from a sea of fire, but it's really hard to save me if I get wet."

The lake water was strange and they didn't dare to drink it, so they had to turn around and walk towards the palm-shaped terrain.

"Those fingers on the lake just now weren't the same color as ordinary rocks."

"Are you talking about those finger-sized stones eroded out?" Lian Gouqie asked Wei Xi, who nodded.

Qin Feng thought about it, "Now that Wei Xi mentioned it, those fingers are indeed too white, a bit like..."

"What does it look like?" Lian Gouqie urged Qin Feng, who looked hesitant.

"It looks like bones, like human bones. I've seen them in Gulu City. Outside the city are the bones of the Hu and Ju people. Those bones have been piled up for many years, and the colors vary greatly, but the ones that have been severely eroded look like this."

"Let me first explain, I just look a bit like a Hu person," Lian Gouyu said beggingly, as if suddenly remembering something. "You know I'm just a painting, raised in Baoxiang City. I have nothing to do with the Hu people or the Ju Kingdom."

From the first time they met, Lian Gouqie knew that Qin Feng didn't like him very much.

But after supporting each other in the cave, Qin Feng's attitude softened somewhat—at least much better than Wei Xi's. Even Gou Yu could guarantee that back then at the Silk Pupa, if necessary, Wei Xi would not hesitate to push him out to save his life.

But after Qin Feng realized he was a painting, his vague hostility disappeared. Wei Xi was hesitant only after he ran out with her on his back, and she was still in the mood to joke with him.

When he heard Gulucheng and Lian Gouqie's fragmented information about Qin Feng's family background, he realized that it might be his appearance that made Qin Feng dissatisfied.

As expected, trust must be earned through one's own actions, Lian Gou Xie thought happily, completely forgetting that he had appeared in front of Wei Qin and the others as a thief at the beginning.

 Thanks for the recommendation votes!

2023 is a very special year for the author. I have been relaxed, taken the postgraduate entrance exam, had spring recruitment, taken the civil service exam, graduated, flew to a place 3000 kilometers away to work, lived in a prefabricated house, worked on the construction site, quit my job after much reflection, prepared for the exam, wrote a book and successfully signed a contract... Many years later, when I wake up in the middle of the night, I think that 2023 may be a year of mixed feelings, but I hope I will never forget that I have the courage to face failure and correct my mistakes.

I wish you all good health and success in 2024.
