Chapter 454 Pupa
Chapter 454 Pupa
Lena clearly possessed some methods involving the soul, and Isaac had no doubt that she could search his own soul.
That would wipe out the resistance, and might even affect the entire Castel—the girl seemed to be searching for something, and Isaac felt it had something to do with Castel.
Now that his soul has returned to the chrysalis, even if he can't find a chance to be resurrected, at least his secret won't be leaked.
This is the only chance!
In the last instant, he managed to turn his head to look at Lina, who was carefully holding the contaminant in her hands, happily devouring it.
What kind of monster is that?!
Without the slightest hesitation, Isaac abandoned all his physical bodies. His soul, having lost its anchor, was instantly swallowed by the sea of ignorance.
Most extraordinary beings would lose their way at this point, but the Fire Moths possess the [Chrysalis], and Brother Kesch is already on the verge of transcending the taboo. He can guide the direction from the Sea of Ignorance and return lost souls to their rightful place.
Sure enough, a slow, gentle pull came from afar. Isaac did not resist, letting his soul be gently pushed away by the ocean current.
At this moment, he could be considered dead.
The soul drifts aimlessly in the sea of ignorance, never to return to the present world; it has lost the anchor of its physical body.
My not-so-long life flashed through my mind: my unexpected survival, my determination for revenge, all the effort I put in, only to reap a hasty ending.
Isaac remained silent. He felt he had done his best, and each choice was the optimal solution at the time. If he had to choose again, he had no reason to choose any other option.
Gradually, he sank deeper and deeper into the sea, and soon he was about to touch the bottom of the deep sea.
The sea was warm, and Isaac stared intently down.
Once a mortal's will crosses the high walls of the mortal world, they can catch a glimpse of the wonders of the sea, but unless they reach the realm of the extraordinary, they will never be able to see the Sea of Ignorance again in their lifetime.
Even after discarding their physical bodies, extraordinary beings can still catch a glimpse of the highest point in the sea, but unless they can climb another level, they will never have the chance to reach it again.
One glance, only one glance; any longer and you'll be unable to look away.
Isaac looked down and saw a giant serpent that stretched endlessly without end, and a church as tall as a mountain, from which hymns and pipe organs played continuously.
There was a thin boy sitting on a bench, deep in thought, and a manta ray covered in stones.
There were also monsters that were nothing but skeletons, bookshelves covered with writing, round spheres that looked like mist, and giant beasts that devoured lava—all strange and different, densely packed on the seabed.
In the very center of them, however, there was an empty space, and no one dared to approach it; it was a circular doorway.
“This must be the Gate of the Three Points.” Isaac glanced at it and felt countless wonderful knowledge fill his body, squeezing him until he was about to burst.
Just as his will was about to collapse, a giant pupa on the distant open ground suddenly trembled.
Isaac's consciousness cleared a little, and he knew that it must be the [pupa], this was the first time he had seen the real thing.
A slight pull came, and Isaac was pulled away from the circular door and brought to the cocoon. It was covered with bulging, grotesque little blood vessels. Upon closer inspection, however, what flowed inside was not blood, but countless golden runes.
That is flowing knowledge, endless unknowns, and the ultimate destination of the moth drawn to the flame.
Isaac composed himself and addressed the chrysalis, "Lord Kesch, I am..."
Suddenly, he paused.
Isaac lowered his head slowly in shock, the icy touch brushing against his neck once more.
"How can it be!?"
This is the deepest part of the Sea of No Consciousness. Ordinary superhumans would risk their lives to even catch a glimpse of it. How could Lina actually overcome so many obstacles to reach him?
Evil gods have no reason, and outer gods have no power. What kind of being could extend its tentacles here?
Fortunately, the pupa is right here. No matter how strong Lina is, she can't possibly fight against the pupa.
"Lord Kesch, please save me! I'm being chased!" Isaac cried out for help without hesitation. Isaac looked hopefully at the giant cocoon in front of him, but the voice in his mind made him pause.
"Your soul has already been marked."
Is the soul marked?
This is a difficult thing, but not impossible; even Isaac himself could do it.
— [Investigator] can track souls regardless of distance.
However, marking is one thing, exerting influence is another.
The key question is, why is [Chrysalis] bringing this up now? Doesn't it mean it's planning to step in and protect him?
The pull on his neck increased, and Isaac was no longer able to speak. He was being dragged backward, and everything on the seabed was getting farther and farther away.
Someone will save you.
The pupa pulsated slowly, and a sound came from it. Before Isaac could react, he was dragged away.
The seawater rushed past his ears, and the last words of the pupa drifted away into the sea of ignorance. Unfortunately, Isaac was already far away by then.
"[Gwen's friend]"
Within the high walls of reality, in the outskirts not far from Grizzly Town.
Gwen amassed her soldiers in a matter of moments; they had been preparing for battle for some time and were ready to fight at any moment.
But when she looked back, she was surprised to find that Isaac was gone.
Only a scattered thread remained on the ground.
"Where did they go? Did they evacuate? Or..."
What she didn't know was that Isaac had already stopped breathing, and his soul had left his body.
Battles between superhumans are often decided very quickly. Isaac's fight with Lina lasted a long time, but in just a few minutes of gathering soldiers, Isaac had already reached his end.
At the instant Isaac's soul left his body, Gwen's heart suddenly stirred—
For some reason, she had a vague feeling that Isaac was still in the city.
Gwen couldn't explain why, but she had this strong feeling, as if it were some unknown connection.
"Could this be Mr. Isaac's extraordinary ability, a hint he's giving me?"
Isaac's sudden departure was rather strange, especially since Gwen had asked him before he left. She said Isaac was very strong in direct combat and even better at escaping.
Even if you can't win, you should be able to escape.
Therefore, since Isaac was nowhere to be seen at this moment, Gwen believed that he had probably gone back to fight.
"Mr. Isaac went back to fight, and then gave me a hint, pointed me in the right direction. Could it be that he wants me to go and support him?"
Gwen looked back at the town not far away, a hint of hesitation in her eyes.
"Lord Isaac is so strong, there must be too many superhumans in the town—I have to go help him!"
