Chapter 74 Revealing Identity
Chapter 74 Revealing Identity
At this time, Evelyn was explaining the mummification process to O'Connor.
She explained and demonstrated, trying to help O'Connor better understand this complex process.
Seeing Weiss coming over, O'Connor immediately protected Evelyn behind him, "Who are you?"
Jonathan also stopped complaining. He stood side by side with O'Connor, still holding the pistol tightly in his hand.
"It's really disheartening. I had to pay for your rescue." Wes felt that his efforts were not worth it, and at the same time he was reminding O'Connor that he was not an enemy.
"You have a very clear goal. You have known about the existence of Hamunatta for a long time, and you even know that what you are looking for is here."
O'Connor came clean, "If you don't reveal your true identity and purpose, I think it's time for us to part ways. The team doesn't need an unstable factor like you." O'Connor's attitude was firm this time.
Just as Weiss was about to speak, a burst of rapid horse hooves sounded.
Dozens of black knights lined up and rushed towards them.
These are the warriors of Meccad. They ride on tall and mighty warhorses and sweep in like a surging black torrent, vowing to kill these intruders completely.
They were dressed in black robes and held scimitars in their hands. Under the moonlight, the scimitars flashed with a cold and sharp light, ready to reap lives at any time.
The warriors were armed with muskets, ready to spray out angry flames and tear outsiders into pieces at the command of a single blow.
For a moment, the sounds of galloping horses and the raised dust seemed to be caught in a huge storm, and the roars of the Meccad warriors echoed over Hamunaptra.
O'Connor and his men were by no means ordinary people, and the Americans were also fully equipped. The two sides engaged in a fierce battle in the desert land of Hamunaptra.
Bullets flew through the air like meteors, making sharp whistling sounds, and swords and sabers flashed and crisscrossed.
Relying on years of combat experience, Jonathan, O'Connor and others quickly found cover and began to fight back fiercely.
Bullets and scimitars intertwined into a web of death under the moonlight. Both sides tried their best and vowed to defeat the other.
Wes stood quietly by and watched. He did not want to take action against these Megade warriors who were blessed by the Egyptian gods, because he knew very well the mission and beliefs these warriors carried.
Under the tenacious resistance of the Americans and O'Connor, the Magadh warriors suffered heavy losses.
The war horses neighed, the warriors' bodies were covered with wounds, and their blood dyed a large area of the desert red.
Just as the two sides were deadlocked, Amir, the leader of the Meccad warriors, stood up and shouted, "Invaders, you have trespassed into the forbidden area and disturbed the dead. You have one day to evacuate Hamunaptra, otherwise you will be cursed by the evil spirits!!"
Amir's voice echoed in the night sky. After leaving these words, Amir took the remaining warriors away. Their figures gradually disappeared at the end of the desert, leaving only dead silence.
"Is what he said true? Is there really a curse?" Several Americans asked worriedly, but most ignored Amir's warning. "Who cares? These people have been targeting us from the beginning. They might just be bandits trying to rob us."
Everyone began to clean up the battlefield and bury the dead in the sand. The desert was extremely hot during the day, like a huge furnace. It wouldn't take long for the bodies to be dried up, and there was no need to worry about the stench of corpses spreading.
After cleaning up the battlefield, they sat around the campfire again.
Jonathan magically pulled out a bottle of wine from nowhere. He drank it eagerly, his cheeks quickly turning red like a ripe apple. "Today is really exciting."
Evelyn was worried about the curse Amir mentioned, "Does the curse really exist?"
O'Connor, however, thought Amir was just trying to scare them. "How could a curse..." He was interrupted by the sudden appearance of Weiss before he could finish his words. "It's true. There is indeed a terrible curse in Hamunatta."
The three looked at Weiss who suddenly appeared in surprise.
"Why are you so elusive?" Jonathan complained, looking dissatisfied. "You made me spill my wine."
O'Connor, on the other hand, looked serious: "What do you mean?"
Weiss sat down and told them the story between High Priest Imhotep and Ansuna.
"The princess is having an affair with the high priest, this is so exciting!" Jonathan listened with great interest, as if he was listening to a fascinating novel. He completely ignored the seriousness behind what Wes said.
Evelyn was immersed in their tragic love story, as if she had become a part of it.
"How do you know so much?" O'Connor wasn't interested in the story at all. He was more concerned about Weiss's background. "So who are you?"
Facing the aggressive O'Connor, Wes decided not to pretend anymore. He spread out his palm, and a blazing flame suddenly appeared out of thin air. This flame was extremely eye-catching in the night sky, carrying some kind of mysterious power.
"Oh my God!" The three of them widened their eyes in surprise.
Wes opened his hand, and the flames floated in the air, unrestrained by the laws of physics. Jonathan curiously touched it with his finger, but immediately felt the heat and pulled it back, letting out a startled "Ouch!" He rubbed his fingers, staring at the flame in disbelief.
"As you can see, I am a wizard."
"There must be some mechanism." Jonathan didn't believe it and began to check around nervously, but no matter how he looked, he didn't find any mechanism or hidden device.
"So you are really a wizard?" O'Connor would rather believe that Wes was a spy sent by a certain country, or a conspirator who had set his sights on this treasure, than believe that he was a real wizard.
Weiss blew lightly at the flame, and the flame began to freeze rapidly, finally turning into a ball of frozen ice flame that fell down and broke into several petals.
The three of them picked up the fragments, looked at each other, and saw the disbelief in each other's eyes.
"Are you really a wizard?" They confirmed again in disbelief.
"Yes."
"How did you know about Hamunaptra?" O'Connor asked.
"An ancient book..." Wes answered briefly. The three asked a lot of questions and finally had to believe that Wes was really a wizard.
"So the curse those people talked about is real?" Evelyn asked worriedly.
Weiss nodded, his expression serious. "Yes, the curse of Hamunatta is real."
