Industrial Revolution of the Mage Lords
Chapter 141 Bloodline Talent Test
Chapter 141 Bloodline Talent Test
Vaughn turned over and sat up from the ground. With the faint sunlight coming through the huge glass windows into the castle, he squinted at the huge clock hanging on the wall.
It's four o'clock in the morning, and there are still two hours until dawn.
But Vaughn couldn't fall asleep no matter what. Yesterday, under the auspices of the Chief Advisor, this group of soldiers completed the blood connection ceremony with the adults and took the magic potion to activate their innate abilities.
The adults were worried about their physical condition and allowed them to spend the night in the hall on the first floor of the castle so that they could observe everyone's condition at any time.
Vaughn didn't think there was anything wrong, except that... when the ceremony just ended, he unconsciously wanted to get close to the adults and wanted to obey their orders unconditionally.
He tilted his head and thought for a while, then realized what was really wrong with him.
"In such a dimly lit hall, I can actually see clearly at a glance the hands of the clock dozens of steps away, and even clearly distinguish the scale on it!"
Vaughn vaguely felt that his sudden super vision must be directly related to the awakening of his bloodline talent.
He sniffed slightly and smelled a faint stench coming from his side.
"Duff! Why do you suddenly smell so bad?" Vaughn kicked Daf, who was lying shirtless on the soft carpet, awake and asked in a low voice.
Dave turned over and sat up, scratching his head drowsily and sniffing his nose. "Damn it! I clearly took a shower before the ceremony yesterday. What's going on?"
In the dim light, Vaughn clearly saw that his brother's naked body was covered with a layer of black dirt, and a sour smell wafted in his nose.
"Get out of here now and find some water to scrub yourself clean. If the master comes to visit us after dawn and the stench bothers him, I'll tear your head off!"
Dave rolled and crawled out of the castle holding his uniform and wearing only a pair of shorts, shocking the two guards guarding the gate.
"Who was that naked guy who just ran out?"
"I don't know. Is it one of those soldiers sleeping on the first floor tonight? He stinks!"
……
Harvey sat casually on a reclining chair covered with soft fur, looking at the dozen or so soldiers lined up neatly below. They had just gone through the awakening ceremony of their bloodline talent yesterday.
Asdalen coughed lightly and nodded slightly to Harvey, indicating that the talent test could begin.
"Next, whoever I called, come forward..."
"Northern Army, First Battalion, Second Squadron, Captain Wayne!"
"Here!" Wayne puffed out his chest, strode out of the line and walked in front of Harvey.
Asdalen handed him a short metal stick covered with inscriptions.
"Follow my instructions, guide the blood power in your body, and try to transfer it to this mystical short staff... Take your time, there's no need to rush."
Wayne nodded as if he understood, and as he was told, he gripped the short stick tightly with both hands, closed his eyes and began to try.
Soon, everyone saw that the inscriptions on the short staff he was holding began to slowly emit a light red light. The light was not dazzling, but a scorching temperature could be felt from a long distance away.
Asdaren took a quick look, lowered his head, and quickly wrote a few lines on the record book in his hand. Then he announced loudly: "Bloodline Talent - Scorching Empowerment."
He turned to Harvey, who was sitting at the head of the table, and explained, "A bloodline warrior who awakens this talent possesses the ability to imbue any metal weapon with scorching heat. This is a powerful offensive talent..."
Harvey nodded with satisfaction, raised his hand and called to Wayne who was excited: "Soldier, come forward..." Reiner brought an exquisite wooden tray to Harvey at the right time.
Harvey stood up and pretended to straighten Wayne's uniform collar, then took out a badge carved from black crystal from a wooden tray and personally put it into Wayne's sweaty palm.
"Wayne Floyd, you are already a qualified bloodline warrior. Don't let me down, and don't let this surname down..."
Wayne was greatly encouraged and immediately knelt on one knee and kissed the back of Harvey's hand, imitating the knighthood ceremony and loudly swore allegiance to Harvey.
The rest of the soldiers who were still waiting below were all jealous, and their originally javelin-like stances began to loosen slightly.
"Next, Northern Army, First Battalion, Fourth Squadron, Captain Tommy..."
Vaughn felt that this short waiting time was like a year. When his name was finally called, he felt as if he was in another world.
He followed the previous soldiers' example, stepped forward, grasped the metal staff, closed his eyes, and began to try to guide his bloodline power.
But he couldn't feel any special energy or characteristics in his body. He stood there for several minutes without any reaction.
What's going on? Why hasn't my bloodline power appeared yet? Oh my God, hurry up! Hurry up!
Vaughn was so nervous and anxious that beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, but his body remained motionless, and the short staff in his hand showed no reaction.
Just when he was anxiously at a loss of what to do, a gentle voice suddenly appeared in his mind, softly guiding him: "Don't be nervous, relax your mind, stretch your body, and focus your mind on your heart..."
Yes...it's Lord Harvey. Lord Harvey is in my mind, giving me encouragement and guidance!
Vaughn felt that his whole body was filled with strength again, and all the tension and decadence were swept away. He could feel his heart beating strongly at this moment, and a strange power seemed to spread through his blood vessels to his whole body, and was carefully guided by him to his arm.
The inscription on the metal staff finally slowly lit up...
"Huh? Something's wrong. His talent... is actually..." Asdalen's deep red eyes suddenly lit up, and he looked at the short stick in Wayne's hand with burning eyes. Harvey also stood up curiously and cast his gaze over.
The short staff first lit up with a dim gray-black light, then went out in an instant. Then the entire staff broke apart as if corroded and weathered, and fell down along Vaughn's palm, turning into a pile of powder.
Vaughn then felt something was wrong. He opened his eyes and looked at his empty hands in horror, standing there at a loss as to what to do.
"Dark bloodline! Secret method is above! He... he awakened the dark bloodline!" Asdalen could not control his emotions and muttered repeatedly with a trembling voice.
Harvey also asked in surprise and doubt, "Dark bloodline? Are there any side effects? What are its abilities and characteristics?"
"No, the dark bloodline doesn't have any side effects. It's just extremely rare..." Asdalen sighed and explained, "I've only seen descriptions of this bloodline in some ancient books."
"Its innate characteristic is... annihilation, and the effect is what we just saw..."
Harvey walked over, patted the frightened and sweating Vaughn, and said with a smile, "That's not a bad thing, is it? This ability is very similar to some of the caster's corrosive spells, and it's also extremely aggressive..."
Asdalen gave a wry smile and added, "My lord, when he activates this ability, he doesn't distinguish between friend and foe. Anything touched, whether flesh and blood, metal or rock, will instantly disintegrate and shatter... This means he can't wield weapons in combat normally and can only use this ability through physical contact."
Harvey heard the implication in Asdalen's words, but he didn't care. There were no useless abilities, only useless users of abilities.
He turned to look at Wayne and kindly instructed, "Did you hear that? So you need to control your abilities more skillfully than the others. Don't accidentally injure your companions or comrades. Your abilities are lethal, so you must learn to use them with caution."
He turned around and took a crystal badge from Reiner and handed it to the tearful Wayne.
Then he smiled and said, "Wayne Floyd, don't let me down, don't bring shame to this family name, do a good job! I'm counting on you!"
