Chapter 25: Nikonna and Hill
It was naturally impossible for the Ultramarines on the ground to contact the flagship Macragge's Glory, as the bridge of this Glorious Queen-class battleship had been destroyed by the Word Bearers' warp sorcery attack.

Including the Ultramarines Primarch Roboute Guilliman, a large number of legion leaders either died or were sucked into the cold space.

The top brains of the entire Ultramarines Legion suffered severe damage in a short period of time.

Chapter Master Marius Gage survived the unnatural explosion from the Warp, but was knocked against the bulkhead by the shockwave and collapsed in a pool of his own blood.

He was losing massive amounts of blood, the poison of the Warp corroded his modified organs, the wounds were having difficulty clotting and stopping the bleeding, and the terrible high fever was also tormenting the Chapter Master's will. The evil creatures from the High Heavens were completely unknown to the Ultramarines.

The Astartes eliminated fear during their transformation, and the long wars and training further suppressed their perception of fear. Even when being tortured or facing death, the Space Marines could remain calm and indifferent.

But now, Marius felt the long-lost fear, his iron will against the fear from the unknown, he thought he had already understood the nature of fear in the battle with enemies of the entire galaxy, but now, he realized that this was a kind of arrogance and conceit.

Marius struggled to get up from his own blood. He realized that the arrogance rooted deep in the hearts of the Ultramarines was a weakness. The reputation of the Ultramarines made them ignorant, fearless and arrogantly believed that there was no fear in the galaxy.

The Chapter Master recalled the Primarch's previous teachings, in which he reprimanded the Ultramarines for being too arrogant and self-righteous and out of touch with reality. However, they did not really take it to heart.

Gage hoped to personally apologize to the Primarch after the war, but this seemed like a luxury. Guilliman was swept into space in the explosion, and even the Emperor's genetic creation could not survive in space.

The Primarch may be dead.

He came to this conclusion in extreme pain, which was more painful than all the injuries he had suffered combined. The father of genes was in danger of death because of their incompetence. He would rather die in exchange for his father, but there was no such deal in the world.

As the Chapter Master, he must cheer up and continue to command the entire legion to take revenge on the extremely despicable Word Bearers.

His throat was full of pain, and the high fever had subsided a little, but weakness and powerlessness still loomed over Gage's head. The strange toxin continued to weaken him, and at this moment, even a breath would bring severe pain to his lungs and trachea, and even the analgesics injected into the power armor could not stop the pain.

The cabin was filled with turbid smoke and dust, the debris raised by the explosion was constantly circulating, and the air from other parts of the flagship rushed in due to the pressure difference. Except for him, no one was left alive.

He saw a dead Ultramarines, his head twisted and flattened into a strange posture. Further away, there were several mortal officers lying together, their bodies showing signs of being bitten and desecrated, but this was not caused by the explosion.

Among the corpses, Gage found the culprit. A giant ape-like monster with a rough humanoid shape and twice his height was wandering in the same place. The air around it was reversed and distorted as if it was next to a hot object, covering it with a layer of illusory veil, and it was as elusive as a nightmare.

It has no eyes, and its body is covered with a layer of long black bristles. Its head is twisted, and its huge mouth is filled with densely packed sharp teeth. Venom is flowing everywhere, dripping onto the floor.

The floor was corroded by the poison and smoke was coming out, and the strong stench quickly spread.

The empty eye sockets were pointed in the direction of Gage, and the Chapter Master immediately realized that it was this blasphemous creature that had bitten him after the explosion and injected the toxin into his body.

Gage wanted to take out his bolter, but he had lost it at some point, and he also had several fingers missing, making it difficult for him to pull the trigger. His power sword was lost further away, and in his condition it was difficult for him to pick it up and hold it tightly in his hand.

Weak and powerless.

The Ultramarines Chapter Master had never been in such a predicament, but now he tasted the bitter taste of his mouth.

The monster from the High Heaven discovered that Gage was still alive, and it pounced on him like the living beasts in the physical universe, trying to tear Astarte's throat, but Gage summoned up his last strength in desperation, and he strangled the monster's throat with his right hand.

But his strength was too weak, and the monster swallowed his right hand into its mouth, chewing and biting it violently. Gage's arm was torn off with the sound of the power armor and reinforced bones breaking.

With the loss of an arm, the Extreme Warrior's disadvantage increased and he gradually lost the struggle.

The intense pain even overwhelmed the pain of the poison for a while. Gage roared and hit the opponent's face with his left fist, knocking out two sharp teeth.

But this was not enough, the monster continued to pounce, and Gage's severed arm had been swallowed whole by it, and it was craving for more flesh and soul.

The Chapter Master's perseverance and courage are more delicious than flesh and blood in the eyes of the Warp Demon, and it is eager to devour his soul.

Souls, the souls of the brave, have a fatal attraction to the demons of the warp.

And now, this sweet and delicious soul is right before my eyes.

But its desire could only stop there. Two figures, one black and one blue, knocked it over. The thrusts from the cold weapons severely damaged its core, causing it to crawl on the ground and howl.

Over the ages, myths, legends, and fables have reinforced the concept that only fire and sword can defeat demons, and these warp creatures that have merged human fears have naturally inherited this weakness.

In front of the Chapter Master who fell helplessly to the ground, an Ultramarines with scars all over his body and wearing a red helmet stood resolutely, holding an electromagnetic sword and a Koleti power axe in his hands, and beside him was a Raven Guard warrior wearing black power armor without a single scar.

How could there be Raven Guard on Macragge's Glory? A thought popped up in Gage's chaotic mind. His thinking became dulled by the effects of the toxin, and he even began to have bizarre associations in a cursory manner. The blood loss made this even more serious.

Before the thought disappeared, the two warriors had already started moving.

The warrior wearing a red helmet roared and swung the power axe. The decomposition force field on the axe blade tore apart everything that stood in the way. The giant axe that could cut through objects at the molecular level cut off the body of the Warp Demon. A foul-smelling, corrupt black liquid gushed out of it, polluting the deck of the battleship.

The Raven Guard kept his distance, and the bolter in his hand continued to spray flames, accurately shooting at the target's limb joints, face and other important organs.

Although the powerful bomb could not kill the enemy completely, it suppressed its movement trajectory, giving the red-helmeted warrior a chance to behead it.

One far and one near, with the cooperation of the two, the roar of the subspace demon became weaker and weaker. After its limbs were broken, it could no longer carry this guy from the highest heaven. It was bound by the rules of the real world and was finally exiled.

After the two warriors finished off their opponents, another combat team quickly followed. There were a few Extreme Warriors among them, but more were mortal soldiers. The weapons they held were also varied and not at all those identical standard weapons.

"Flamethrower! Clean up those traces of contamination! Make sure nothing is left behind!"

The soldiers were shouting, and at the same time, the soldiers carrying promethium fuel tanks pointed the flamethrowers at the ground. The raging flames burned the remains of those ghost things and burned them completely.

The pharmacist in the team immediately rushed to the fallen captain and used his equipment to stop the bleeding and disinfect Gage. His wounds were quickly cleaned, and the injection of painkillers made Gage's brain clearer.

"What's your name? Sergeant."

The Ultramarines in the red helmet replied calmly, "Hill, Ironnidehill, a soldier of the 135th Company, Chapter Master."

"Did you organize these people? Including this Raven Guard?"

Marius sat up. He did not ask why an ordinary Ultramarines was commanding the battle. Today, the XIII Legion was in the most chaotic time in its history. The large number of casualties among the legion's command level had left the Ultramarines without a commanding mind.

"It is I, my lord," Hill replied, "but Nikonna was not organized by me. This brother of the Raven Guard came back with Captain Luciel. They claimed that the Word Bearers had already launched a betrayal, just when the Belfry began to accelerate."

Nikona Sharokin took off his helmet and nodded to Gage.

"We are the survivors from Isstvan, bringing you news of the betrayal."

"But it seems we are still a step too late. The Word Bearers have taken action."

"Words cannot express my gratitude, battle-brother of the Raven Guard."

Gage was able to stand up, and he held Nikona's hand tightly with his only remaining hand. At this moment, he realized that the previous warning from Calth came from these survivors of Isstvan, and it was they who passed the message to the Extreme Warriors without fear of any difficulties.

Although the Thirteenth Legion has still suffered heavy damage, the Chapter Commander knows that the damage is not fatal, and half of the warships have started their engines and are counterattacking.

Without that warning, the entire legion would have become lambs to the slaughter.

"I wonder what happened, Chapter Master?" Hill asked.

"It was the Word Bearers. They released something that destroyed the bridge. Many died."

"Are you referring to the higher-ups of the chapter other than yourself?" Hill's voice remained firm and calm. He needed to get the truth beyond these ambiguous answers.

"Including the Captain, and most of the senior officers, Chapter Master Vared, Chapter Master Banzo, and your Chapter Master Antoli."

Hill looked into Gage's eyes and asked the name he didn't want to mention.

"Where is the Primarch? Is he still alive?"

"I didn't see him die, but he was swept into space. I can't answer your question." Gage's voice was hoarse. He firmly believed that the Primarch was still alive, even if the possibility was slim.

Hill finally fell silent. His calmness and courage were not unconditional. Now he needed time to accept this shocking information.

There was a beeping sound from the communicator on Nikona. It was a communication request sent by Roxi on the surface of Cowes.

I need to read the new book, please read it, collect it and vote for it^o^
