Chapter 18 You Should Be Glad I'm Not You
Chapter 18 You Should Be Glad I'm Not You
Alex stared at the Emperor's angel in silence, his gaze meeting that sharp sword that seemed to pierce through everything.
He couldn't take his eyes off him.
"I believe you, Commissar."
The terrifying pressure dissipated.
The brief confrontation ended quickly, and Arthur looked up, gazing at each warrior.
He suddenly felt that there was still hope in this world.
Perhaps this hope will eventually dissipate in the endless flames of war and suspicion, but now, at this moment——
Arthur sincerely hoped that it would continue along with the lives of these people.
"I believe in all of you."
he shouted.
"So the Emperor will not allow his warriors to die in the celebration after a victory, or on the road to the next victory."
Arthur neither understood nor agreed with the fact that the Empire could not tolerate any threats and was so obsessed with indiscriminately exterminating any being that had come into contact or might have come into contact with Chaos.
"The road of dedicating oneself to humanity may be short, or it may be long."
"but--"
Arthur took off his helmet, revealing an unusually young face with slightly long golden hair hanging down. His green eyes swept over everyone present.
Everyone's breathing stopped. Through those deep pupils, they seemed to see a red dragon that had retracted its flames and claws.
"However long it lasts, I, Arthur Pendragon."
He clenched his right fist and hit his heart hard.
"I will go down with you to witness a glorious death."
Arthur's idea was simple. He didn't want these warriors to die and fall into the warp, becoming food for demons.
He hoped that these soldiers could survive, complete the duties they intended to fulfill throughout their lives, and then go to their proper destination.
"For the Emperor, for Mankind."
"For the Emperor, for Mankind!"
"That's loyalty."
Karna sighed softly, the loyalty of these Astra Militarum soldiers to the Emperor was truly unshakable.
As for these hammer guys
He was gnawing on a chicken wing and glanced sideways at the two people squatting in front of the planetarium, doing something unknown.
They are loyal when asked, but won’t come when called.
"So, did you pray well? Speaking of which, can't we study this mutation slowly? Why would we just do it on impulse? First, perform surgery on them and replace them with mechanical prosthetic limbs to save their lives."
In a dark corner, Romulus punched Ramses on the head.
"Don't you think this atmosphere is very suitable? And it doesn't conflict with anything. It's just a good opportunity to gather people together and give it a try."
Ramses adjusted the mask that was a little crooked.
"Speaking of which, how come Arthur is so good? I wanted to ask him when we first started the meeting, where did he learn such a cool way of speaking?"
“Focus.”
Romulus slapped his helmet again.
Thanks to the psychic isolation, no one paid attention to the funny movements in the corner.
"It's almost over there."
"Don't worry, it should be fine. At most, I won't be able to attract the Emperor, but no one will be killed. With my strength in the Warp, anyone below the Great Demon will die."
Ramses held the astrolabe used to observe the subspace, with a mysterious confidence in his operation. "Should?"
Romulus paid no attention to the subsequent emphasis.
"This is my first time operating this either, so how can I be sure? 20/80, 80% chance of success."
Ramses carefully observed the movements in the warp, striving to add various elements belonging to the Emperor.
From a realistic perspective, even if the Great Rift has not yet opened and all kinds of monsters and demons have not yet been completely exposed to the vision of the people of the Empire, the Emperor's influence on the real universe is certainly not less than that of the Four Gods.
The state religion that is spread everywhere is not just for show.
"The Chaos Ritual can attract the Four Gods, so why can't the Prayer Ritual attract the Emperor? It doesn't make sense! This is discrimination against the Emperor!"
"I hope so."
Romulus did not like this kind of "surprise attack" very much, although it was necessary to have some trust in his companions, not to mention that they were not the kind of people who would cry out in dismay after being killed in seconds by their carbines.
But it feels really bad to be unprepared.
He looked at Arthur who was surrounded by the crowd with some resentment, fearing that a few Star Army soldiers would explode into a pile of demons and jump out.
Arthur too, actually dared to let Ramses do this.
Arthur actually didn't care.
Ramses can pray if he wants to. It is a good thing to be able to attract the Emperor. If not, can he just ignore these interstellar armies?
You have to take care of it after all. If there is a response from the emperor, you will feel more confident. If there is no response, you can only do your best.
Arthur didn't intend to brag. Most of the Astra Militarum had been severely mutated, and many even had trouble standing. If Karna hadn't scanned the prosthetic data of the Mechanicus when he was strolling around before, he wouldn't have had much confidence in this situation.
"At least try more and do as much as you can."
He turned around and asked the political commissar and the colonel to go to the nuns to take the wounded soldiers to the nuns, and to inspect and classify the areas that needed to be removed in advance. Arthur then found the technical priest who was accompanying the army.
These Mechanic Priests who believe in Om Messiah are another backbone of the Empire. From the armed forces of the Empire's various military departments to the warships cruising in space, almost all of them come from the various forge worlds under their control.
"I do not recommend that, my lord."
In response to Arthur's request for transformation, the mechanical priest in an orange robe gave an advice.
"The vast majority of them are elite individuals who are not qualified to use mechanical prosthetics. And from a statistical point of view, even among these elite individuals, the vast majority of them will not be able to repay Om Messiah for this mechanical blessing until their death."
"Of course, I'm not suggesting that you completely destroy these individuals. From a more economical perspective, they should be transformed into servitors to continue serving Om Messiah."
How can such cold words come out of a human mouth?
Arthur took a deep breath and kept telling himself that this was a feature of Warhammer. The Mechanicus in this world looked down on humans in this way, and they would have to rely on these guys to mechanize the soldiers in the future.
In the end, I resisted the urge to punch this guy's head off and send him to see Om Messiah.
The Mechanical Priest also tactfully stopped talking.
"You should be glad I'm not you."
Arthur looked at the mechanical priest, who had transformed the body from the waist down into a spider-shaped power skeleton.
"I still have a deep respect for human life and dignity, so you can stand here intact."
"At the same time, I don't want to be judged as an alien or some other individual that cannot be called human due to some abnormal factors."
The Mechanical Priest remained silent, his nervousness betrayed by the slight trembling of the heat pipes as they overloaded.
"We will provide the mechanical parts for the transformation."
Behind him, Romulus said in a deep voice: "You just need to obey orders."
The Mechanical Priest nodded immediately after hearing this.
