North America: An Extraordinary Life Beginning with Exorcism

Chapter 1 The Sheriff's Request for Help

Chapter 1 The Sheriff's Request for Help
In the southwest corner of Houston's east side, five kilometers from the port, there is a church.

The brick walls outside the church are mottled and full of traces of erosion by time.

James struggled to get around the muddy road that had just rained and arrived at the church gate.

He looked at the tightly closed door, adjusted his police hat, and was about to raise his hand to knock on the door when a series of dull sounds came from inside the church through the heavy door.

boom! boom! boom!
Listening to the sound that could only be made by a heavy object hitting something, James raised his eyebrows slightly.

He didn't choose to knock on the door again, but pushed it open with both hands.

The door is open, and the interior of the church is clearly visible.

I saw that the benches originally placed in the hall were randomly piled against the wall. Several people with their heads covered were tied to the wooden chairs with ropes, and a tall man was holding the gate on his back.

Bang bang bang!
The man punched one of the tied guys, and the fist made a dull sound when it hit his back.

The guy who was hit hard lowered his head and seemed to have fainted like the people next to him.

"Green!"

As a sheriff, James did not speak to stop the suspected violent crime in front of him. He walked straight behind the tall man and shouted.

The man called Green stopped what he was doing and slowly turned around.

"Oh! Mr. Sheriff, how come you have time to come to my place today?"

Green has a handsome face. He looked at James in front of him who was wearing a police uniform. Although there was a smile on the corner of his mouth, his brows gave people a feeling of "keep away from strangers".

James didn't answer Green's question. He pointed at the people tied to wooden chairs and asked, "These people..."

“These few…”

Green put away the smile on his face, looked at the few people with disgust, frowned and replied: "These bastards were selling drugs nearby, and I caught them."

After hearing Green's explanation, James also frowned in disgust.

However, when faced with Green's obviously illegal behavior, he did not speak to stop it.

Clearing his throat, James stated his purpose: "I'm here to ask you for help. There's a company in the next county that's encountered some difficult issues and needs a professional like you."

"Oh?"

Green wiped the blood off his hands with the drug dealer's hood beside him, looked at the sheriff, whose face revealed a hint of anxiety, and said, "Let's talk about it later."

As he said this, he turned around the altar and entered the corridor on the right.

……

"Tea? Coffee?"

"Tap water will do."

Green put down the coffee that he had just taken out of the cabinet and had been there for who knows how long, stood up and went to the kitchen to pour two glasses of boiled water.

"Tell me, what kind of troublesome thing is it? An evil spirit or a demon?"

"You still prefer to drink boiled water." James took the cup and drank it all in one gulp. He took a long breath and then slowly said, "You know, before I met you, I was a staunch atheist, but ever since the accident three years ago..."

"Stop, stop, stop!"

Green stopped James from speaking. He tapped the table with his fingers and said, "Let's get to the point. I have an appointment this afternoon."

"..."

James cleared his throat, leaned forward slightly, and lowered his voice to speak: "The little daughter of the family in the next county seems to be possessed by the devil..." "She speaks a language that no one can understand, becomes extremely powerful and very aggressive..."

Hearing this, Green frowned slightly.

He rubbed his left wrist with his right fingers and asked, "Didn't you ask a priest to perform an exorcism?"

"I looked for it, but it was no use!"

James straightened up, a look of disgust on his face. "Those priests just read the Bible verbatim. It's completely useless."

He reached out and patted Green on the shoulder, then continued earnestly, "Green, you are truly capable. The little girl is in a very bad condition and desperately needs your help!"

However, Green's expression remained unchanged. He took a sip of water and then spoke calmly, "You know, I've been banned by the church from performing exorcisms anymore."

"Fake!"

James cursed and said anxiously: "No one cares about those damn old guys!"

"I was there when the priest was performing an exorcism on a little girl a few days ago. Three strong men couldn't hold down a little girl who had just turned six!"

"Green, the sheriff of the next county is my comrade-in-arms. He knows that I have solved some difficult problems with your help before. This time he wants to invite you to help."

"As for those damn old guys, please rest assured, this is our territory, no one will report you!"

Looking at James who looked anxious in front of him, Green did not agree immediately.

"You know, James, my exorcism method is a little different from that of ordinary priests..."

"I know. I've also told that family about your situation. As long as you can save that little girl, no one cares which method you use to exorcise the demon!"

James stared at Green, placed his hand on his shoulder again, and slowly spoke, "The little girl has been taken back from the hospital by her family today. She might not make it to sunrise tomorrow..."

Green sighed softly when he heard this. At this point, he no longer had any reason to refuse.

"Wait for me at the gate. I'll get something and be right back."

Hearing this, a hint of joy appeared on James' face. He nodded quickly and hurried to the church gate.

Green walked into the bedroom alone and went straight to the bookshelf on the left side of the room.

His eyes swept across the dazzling array of books on the bookshelf and soon found his target.

It was a thick, old book with a few gold-stamped letters on the spine.

Green raised his hand and pressed on the spine of the book. With a clear click, the tightly closed bookshelf slowly opened, revealing a wooden door hidden behind it, with an antique subway lock hanging on the door.

Taking out a key from his pocket, Green skillfully opened the iron lock, pushed open the wooden door and walked in.

Behind the wooden door was a large space with more than a dozen iron racks placed on the ground, filled with various guns and tools.

In front of the iron frame, there is a solid wooden table.

Green picked up the backpack from the table and walked in along the aisle between the shelves.

According to James, the one who possessed the little girl should be an ordinary demon, not a physical entity like a vampire.

So Green simply ignored the guns that took up most of the space and picked out some tools suitable for exorcism from the shelf.

After packing up his things, Green was about to go look for James, but when he reached the door, he turned back and picked up another pistol from the shelf.

Green skillfully put the pistol into the holster and hung it around his waist, then pushed open the door and walked out.
