Two Worlds: I studied abroad at Hogwarts

Chapter 18 Professor's Advice

Chapter 18 Professor's Advice

Professor Sprout is probably the most knowledgeable wizard in Hogwarts when it comes to herbs and plants.

Although she was a little surprised by Moon's question about the wand wood, she was still very happy to give the answer.

The woods used to make wands are not limited to the few types sold in wand shops, and the easiest way to find such wood is to use the magical creature called the Bowtruckle.

Whenever a tree develops magical properties, the Bowtruckle will be the first to discover it and will forbid other animals, including wizards, from destroying the tree.

"Professor, besides the Bowtruckle, is there no other way to detect or discover the properties of magical plants?"

The bell for the end of get out of class had already rung, but Moon continued to ask the questions that were bothering him.

"Of course there are, but that requires a pair of eyes that are good at discovering, or you can witness the birth of a magical plant with your own eyes."

Professor Sprout enjoys discussing herbal knowledge with others, especially with students who are talented in this area.

Although Moon had just enrolled, his performance had already been recognized by Professor Sprout.

"Witness it with my own eyes? How can I do that? Are there magical plants growing in the school?"

Moon looked around the greenhouse and felt that it was impossible to grow tall trees in this low environment.

"Don't look, child. Hogwarts does have magical trees suitable for making wands, but they are all in the Forbidden Forest. Even Ollivander selects the right wood there."

When Moon heard Sprout talk about the Forbidden Forest, he showed a slightly disappointed expression.

Because he remembered very clearly that at the start-of-term dinner, Dumbledore had expressly forbidden new students from setting foot there.

"Okay, kid, don't be so sad. Don't you want to plant a magical plant yourself and discover its magical charm?"

Looking at the disappointed expression on Moon's face, Professor Sprout smiled and tried to comfort him.

"Really? Professor?"

"Of course, magic is more than just knowledge from books. It requires wizards to experience its magic themselves."

Professor Sprout said as he took out his wand and cleaned a workbench, then took out a quill and began to write on the parchment.
-
In view of Mr. Moon Scarlett's excellent performance in the Herbology class, he was allowed to go to the edge of the Forbidden Forest to collect magical plants.

Professor: Pomona Sprout——
Handing over the parchment, Professor Sprout looked at Moon intently.

"Mr. Scarlett, you have to promise me that you will not enter the Forbidden Forest. In addition, you must ask Professor McGonagall for her opinion. Only if she agrees can you go."

Moon glanced at the contents of the parchment and a smile appeared on his face.

"I promise! Professor."

"Don't be too happy, Mr. Scarlett. It's not that easy to grow a magical plant. Of course, if you can really grow one, I will give you a mysterious reward."

Hearing that there was a reward, Moon nodded heavily and agreed.

Although he was responsible for guarding the hazelnut forest in Xilin and had some knowledge of growing various crops, he did not have much confidence in magical plants.

But this did not affect Moon's determination, especially after he got Professor Sprout's approval, he did not want to disappoint this trust.

Moon happily left the greenhouse, while his classmates were already in the auditorium preparing to have dinner.

"This child is so talented in herbs and plants. I really don't know why the Sorting Hat put him in Gryffindor."

Professor Sprout watched Moon leave and sighed silently.

During dinner, Ron kept urging everyone to eat more. This was the experience passed down from his brothers because there was an astronomy class tonight.

Astronomy classes are held from 11pm to 1pm.

Moon never thought about taking classes at night, especially since the time period of this course was exactly when he should be sleeping.

Taking out his schedule and comparing it with the time, Moon discovered that he didn't have any classes on Friday afternoon. Perhaps he could go to the edge of the forbidden forest and pick some saplings then.

But he would need to go see Professor McGonagall tomorrow. After dinner, Moon read a book about wands as usual. This time, he chose to read in the library, as the common room was still a bit too noisy.

Hermione was also in the library, but this time she was sitting a little further away.

When the library closed, Moon hurried back to the dormitory and fell asleep. He wanted to get enough rest for tonight's astronomy class.

However, Moon's early bedtime did not play a big role. Everyone in the astronomy class was very energetic, and Moon was no exception.

This feeling of excitement was not only due to the novelty of taking an astronomy class for the first time, but more because of the cold wind on the astronomy tower.

As the tallest building in Hogwarts, and at midnight, the constant cold wind blew from all directions, making it difficult for Moon to hold the telescope all the time.

Professor Aurora Sinistra is a dark-skinned witch. When she explains the stars in the night sky, she always takes the moon as the starting point and then observes other celestial bodies around it.

"Okay, that's all for today's class. I also hope everyone can hand-draw a moon chart. The more detailed the better, and submit it before class next week."

After the get out of class was dismissed, all the young wizards crowded towards the stairs just to get a little warmer. Professor Sinistra seemed to have anticipated this and waited there in advance to let the students pass through one by one.

"You're kidding me, a class in the middle of the night with such heavy homework, tsk!" Ron said, sniffing.

"That's right! Moon chart, this is what we have to draw in the first grade." Simo also responded.

Moon, Harry, and Neville walked behind. They said nothing and just wanted to go back to sleep quickly.

Even though the stars at night are beautiful, you will get tired of looking at them for two hours straight.

After returning to the dormitory, the little wizards made a lot of noise, and Bengbeng, who was woken up, crawled out of the tree hole and warned them again.

"Sorry, we'll go to bed soon."

The next morning, Moon got up early as usual.

While others were still asleep, he had already finished reading today's "Modern Magical Pronunciation Table" and was previewing the pronunciation of spells related to Transfiguration.

During breakfast, Hermione, who hadn't spoken to Moon for a day, came over with a pile of textbooks in her hands.

“Here’s the Oxford Reading Tree you asked for!”

boom!
A thick stack of books made a dull thud as it was placed on the dining table.

Moon had always thought that this book would be a large volume at most, but he never imagined that it would be a textbook with dozens of volumes. He looked at Hermione in confusion.

“Do you have to read all of this?”

"Of course, if you want to quickly take notes on the key points the professor is explaining in class, you need to read it all."

Hermione said this proudly as she sat down opposite. This set of books was actually delivered by the owl in the school owlshed yesterday.

Hermione's father rented three owls to transport the books.

Looking at Moon's frown, Hermione felt a little relieved.

"Okay, thank you, Hermione."

His expression gradually became calm, and Moon sincerely thanked Hermione.

Hearing that Moon actually planned to read so many books, Ron sat there in a daze, even forgetting to chew the delicious pie.

"What are you doing? Don't you have enough textbooks for class?"

Ron exclaimed in disbelief.

"Of course, my goal is to read all the books in the library."

Realizing that Moon had accepted all this calmly, Hermione's face turned cold and she turned around and responded to Ron as a matter of course.
