Two Worlds: I studied abroad at Hogwarts

Chapter 50 The Reward Left by Newt

Chapter 50 The Reward Left by Newt

The surrounding workbenches are filled with plants planted by former club members, most of whose owners have already left the school.

However, the plants here did not wither because of the owner's departure, but grew very lushly.

This was clearly under the careful care of Professor Sprout.

By the time Cedric had finished introducing all the plants, it was almost seven o'clock.

After a while, Professor Sprout pushed the door open, holding a flower pot in her hand, followed by five senior students.

"Alright, quiet down for a moment, students. Aren't you curious about why I brought a willow branch over here?"

Sprout asked the students following him to disperse, then glanced at Moon in the distance.

"Actually, this is the plant material of a new member. Let us welcome the first year Gryffindor, Mr. Moonscarlet."

"What? First grade!"

"No way?"

The students who had just gathered around the professor to ask questions now followed Sprout's gaze and looked at the stranger behind them.

"There is no need to question his age, gentlemen and ladies, for his creation is a willow wand."

"Wand! Professor, are you sure?"

"A first year student making a wand. Could he be Mr. Ollivander's apprentice?"

Amidst the doubts of the senior students, Moon slowly walked over to Sprout and took out the wand that still had the green and damp smell of wood.

"My name is Bernard Vincent, a seventh-year Hufflepuff student. Can I see your wand?"

Moon looked at the senior who produced adhesive using snail grass. He looked very ordinary, but his attitude was very friendly.

"Of course." Moon handed over the wand.

"It really is a wand!"

"The spells also cast very smoothly."

"Don't you think its feel, center of gravity, and length make it very effortless and smooth to wield?"

Every member of the club got his hands on Moon's new wand, and they even cast more than a dozen spells with it.

"I really didn't expect you could make a wand at the age of eleven. I was in fourth grade when I made snail grass."

Bernard Vincent looked at Moon with envy.

"Yeah, I didn't expect Cedric's record to be broken in less than three months."

The speaker was Senior Molina, who was cultivating swallowtail flowers.

The record she was talking about was the youngest to join the club, and before Moon was Cedric's thirteen-year-old record.

"Well, now that Mr. Scarlett's eligibility has been confirmed, let's not disturb him. Let Cedric help him get familiar with the group."

Sprout said and looked down at Moon again.

"You just need to familiarize yourself with it today. If you have any questions, you can come to me."

With Sprout's clearance, Moon quickly walked out of the crowd.

It was the first time that Moon received so much praise from so many people, and it felt unreal.

After Moon stepped down from the podium, Sprout was surrounded by senior students again, who asked him questions about various herbal plant magic.

Cedric led Moon to the table in the middle of the classroom, which was not as crowded as the other operating tables.

There was only a pot of plant with small white flowers placed on it.

"This is the biggest prize the club has prepared this year, the moonlight grass."

Cedric kept his eyes on the small white flowers as he introduced them.

"Moonlight grass? What can it do?"

"It is the main ingredient in refining the Moonlight Potion, which allows wizards to gain the ability to see at night."

Cedric said, looked around to see if there was anyone around, and added another sentence.

"This is Mr. Newt Scamander's prize for the student who cultivated the best plants this year."

Newt Scamander, Moon still knew this name.

Among the second-hand textbooks he bought before school started was Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, a book written by Newt Scamander.

"Is he also a member of the club?" Moon asked curiously.

"No, although Mr. Newt once went to Hogwarts and was a Hufflepuff student, I don't know why he was expelled later."

There was a hint of disappointment in Cedric's tone.

"But he has always been paying attention to Hogwarts. I heard from the seniors that he often comes to the club's gatherings."

Through Cedric's explanation, Moon gained a basic understanding of the club.

At the small weekly gatherings, Sprout would come to answer questions for each student.

Every spring around Easter, a large party is held in Hogsmeade, and old members who have left the school will also come to participate.

At this gathering, the best plant works of the year will be selected and awarded.

At the big party that has passed this year, Newt left this moonflower as a reward for next year.

"Can I join in too?" Moon looked at Cedric curiously.

"Of course, but your age is a problem."

Hogwarts students are only allowed to go to Hogsmeade in their third year and with signed permission from their guardians.

Moon obviously does not meet this condition.

"But you don't have to worry too much about it. After all, you will be the one who has received guidance for the longest time in the club."

Hearing the envy in Cedric's tone, Moon subconsciously turned his head to look at Sprout, who was still surrounded by students.

This professor, who always wears patched clothes, seems to be able to provide insights into any issue related to plant magic.

"The professor is very good."

Cedric added, and Moon did not deny it, but he was more concerned about another issue.

"I wonder if the professor has done any research on those ancient magical plants."

In another world, Moon could find many plants and herbs that were thousands of years old or even older.

If these could be utilized, it would be a huge fortune, and perhaps even improve his magical power.

However, this work is very complicated and it is obviously difficult for Moon to do it alone.

But if there is an experienced elder to guide you, the difficulty of this matter will be reduced exponentially.

Thinking of this, Moon secretly made up his mind to learn more about herbal plant magic in the club.

"Remember those sawdust you gave me? I've buried them in there now."

Coming to the operating table again, Cedric pointed to the flowerpot of the sleepy face mushroom and then looked at Moon.

"You want this mushroom to absorb the magical properties of the sawdust?"

Moon looked at the black soil in the flowerpot, and there were indeed some inconspicuous green spots emitting from it.

"Yes, it was the professor who reminded me, and then I asked you to borrow these sawdust."

"Have these mushrooms changed now?"

Moon, who already had a magic wand, didn't care much about the sawdust. He was more curious about these black mushrooms.

"Not yet. I think they'll need at least a month."

"I still have the growth potion."

"No, no, no, the Sleepy Face Fungus doesn't have the same strong absorption ability as the magical trees, and your potion is too expensive. I can't afford it."

Hearing that Moon wanted to use the growth potion on the sleepy fungus, Cedric hurried to stop him.

"Well, if you need anything you can tell me, I still have some potions."

After Moon had applied the growth potion that Professor Sprout rewarded him to three large trees, there were still six drops left, and he had kept them locked in a suitcase under his bed.

"You'd better keep it for now. One sleepy face mushroom is enough for me to study for four years. And you'd better think about the next research direction."
