Chapter 35 It’s time to go home
Tanes walked out and saw more than twenty humans of varying ages and genders gathered together with terrified expressions. Those holding weapons protected the unarmed behind them, and in the middle was a seriously injured and unconscious human.

They are afraid of the hybrids around them.

Perhaps they were afraid of the weapons in their hands dripping with the blood of Orcs, or they were afraid of the hybrids' ugly appearance similar to that of Orcs.

Therefore, when Tanes appeared in front of these humans wearing the White Wolf War Ghost armor, there was a commotion among the crowd.

They never imagined that the leader of these terrifying-looking humanoid creatures around them actually looked like a normal human being.

"Your Excellency, please lend a hand and save us."

A man with messy blond hair stood up and pleaded in a humble voice.

Tanes looked at this group of half-naked, emaciated, and wounded people, and he spoke first to the lion hybrid who had come out a step behind him, "Give them some food, and also search Longdedale to see if there are any clothes for these people, even Orc clothes. It's warm in the sun during the day, but they won't be able to survive like this at night."

The lion hybrid hesitated, "But the food we eat is a little... I'm afraid these humans won't be used to it."

His words were very tactful, but Tanes knew what he meant to say that in order to travel as quickly as possible, the hybrids brought food with them that had a texture and taste that was not so bad as to be edible.

Tanes said, "Look at their pale and thin faces. You can tell they haven't eaten anything good in a long time. Feeding them all at once would actually harm their bodies. The dry food we brought here is just right for them."

The lion hybrid nodded and left with a few scaly hybrids.

Only then did Tanes take off the White Wolf War Ghost Helmet, revealing his true appearance.

After seeing Tanes' face, people's hearts finally settled down, because it was not a monster that looked like a human hiding in the armor.

Tanes frowned as he approached, because he found that the seriously injured and unconscious young man had a pale face and his chest was almost not moving.

He walked over quickly, and the hybrid in front of him automatically made way for him.

Tanes came in front of those humans holding weapons. The other party hesitated for less than a second and then made way for him.

They compared the tattered weapons in their hands, the armor worn by Tanes and the mixed-race people around them with unfriendly expressions, and decisively chose to follow their hearts.

At least the human in front of him was not as cruel as the Orcs, and he saved his life from the pursuit of the wargs. Being a little cowardly would not have any impact.

Tanes came to Albert's side, squatted down, and took out the Red Dew Drop Holy Grail Bottle that had not yet been put into the space backpack.

"You, help me lift up his upper body and pry open his mouth. If he is not treated, he will die." Tanes casually pointed at a person, a little boy.

The little boy seemed a little scared, looking at Tanes evasively and not coming over immediately.

"Let me do it."

The blond man who spoke before protected him behind him and came over to help.

The blessed liquid in the Red Dew Drop Holy Grail bottle flowed into Albert's mouth, and the injuries on his body began to heal immediately. Within just a few seconds, they completely disappeared without even leaving a scar.

"Wow……"

The people around saw this scene and cried out in surprise.

"Cough cough..."

Albert immediately started coughing, then suddenly opened his eyes and subconsciously attacked the two people beside him.

Tanes reacted quickly, easily catching the opponent's fist. However, the man behind him who was helping to support him was not so lucky, and was hit hard by Albert.

The man who was beaten was not angry at all. Instead, he covered his bruised face and said in surprise: "Albert, you're awake!"

"Mills...? What's wrong with me?" Albert was a little dazed.

Tanes released Albert's fist and said calmly, "You passed out on the battlefield and I revived you. It's that simple."

Albert looked at the strange man in front of him, then glanced at the surroundings.

Although he didn't know what exactly happened, he understood that he was at least safe now.

After Albert calmed down, he said, "Thank you, unknown knight."

Tanes shook his head: "No need to thank me, you are lucky."

He then pulled Albert up from the ground and spoke loudly to the still somewhat uneasy people around him: "I am a wizard and also the lord of the Golden Tree Territory. The ones around you are half-breeds, my loyal soldiers, not those evil orcs. You are safe and do not need to worry about your lives being threatened."

In fact, after Tanes said that he was a "wizard", the people led by Albert completely let down their guard, and many people even hugged each other and cried in joy of surviving the disaster.

Moreover, they also lost their previous vigilance against hybrids. It seemed that in their eyes, "wizard" was just a profession surrounded by strange things.

"I know you have a lot to ask me, and I also have a few questions to ask you. Let's go into the house and talk. Your people will be fine, the hybrids will take good care of them." Tanes invited Albert.

After the lion hybrid brought dry food and some clothes left by the orcs, Albert said a few words to the crowd before following Tanes to the house where the orc captain had been before.

"Lord Tanes, where are we now? I fell into a coma after being captured by the Orcs. When I woke up, I was locked in a cage and brought here." Albert asked anxiously.

Tanes glanced at the other man and replied, "This is the Great Harbor of Longdedale, west of the Ened region. Now, let me ask you, do you know when these Orcs began repairing this harbor?"

"Longdedale... actually came to the west..." Albert muttered. After hearing Tanes' question, he immediately replied, "I'm sorry, Master Wizard, I'm not sure either. When I was sent here, there were already humans captured by Orcs working in this port. I was captured over a month ago, and the oldest survivor was here four months ago. That's the man I accidentally hit just now, Mills."

Four months ago? It's June now, so four months ago was February.

I remember when I fell into Bilbo's house, Bilbo told me the date was March.

That is why I encountered the orcs that attacked me when I was coming towards Minhirias, because they had already appeared in this land.

At least he knew the orcs had begun repairing Longdedale long before he arrived, and it wasn't because he had planted the golden tree that they had drawn their attention. That was good news.

Tanes was silent, obviously thinking about something, and Albert did not dare to disturb him.

"Can you help me call Mills in? I also have some questions to ask him." Tanes quickly finished thinking and asked.

Albert nodded, turned and left, and when he came back, he was followed by the golden-haired man.

Mills bowed slightly to Tanes: "Master Wizard."

"Just call me Tanes. You too, don't keep calling me 'Wizard'." Tanes waved his hand to signal Mills not to be nervous, then asked, "Mills, I heard from Albert that you were brought here by Oak four months ago?"

Mills was silent for a moment, then said, "Well... I think so. I come from a small village in the Kingdom of Rohan with only seven or eight households. It was still winter, and the Orcs attacked our village at night and brought all the survivors here. Then the weather turned from cold to warm, and green weeds crawled out of the ground here. I think it was spring, and that's when Albert was sent here. When he asked about me, I could only guess how long I had been here based on the weather changes."

Tanes asked, "Are there any of those who were sent here with you still alive?"

Sadness flashed across Mills' face, and then he shook his head decisively: "No more, I'm the only one left in our village."

Although Tanes had anticipated this outcome, he still sighed inwardly after hearing it himself: "Please accept my condolences."

Albert patted Mills' shoulder gently to comfort him.

Mills cheered up and said, "It's okay. As long as I live, the villagers will always be in my heart. And now, Lord Tanes, you have eliminated those damned Orcs, and you have avenged my relatives and friends."

Tanes then looked at Albert and asked, "Albert, what about you? Where are you from?"

Albert immediately replied proudly, "I am from Gondor, Lord Tanes."

Then he pleaded, "Lord Tanes, although I know it is very rude and excessive for me to ask this of you, I still want to ask if you could send me back to Gondor. The Orcs have appeared in the west. They must be plotting something. I must bring this information back to my country."

Tanes shook his head. "I'm sorry, Albert. I have much to attend to in my own lands, and I don't have time to send you back to Gondor. However, I can send a team of hybrids to escort you back, but that's all I can do."

It would probably take a long time to go to Gondor. By the time Tanes returns, the golden tree might have already burst the city of Morn.

Moreover, he had something to say to Gandalf, but now he couldn't find Gandalf, let alone go to Gondor.

Albert looked a little disappointed, but he heaved a sigh of relief when he heard Tanes say that he would send a hybrid to escort him back.

Tanes thought for a moment and added, "The hybrids look similar to Orcs. To avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, they cannot escort you directly into Gondor. They will escort you to the vicinity of Gondor. When they see a gathering place of normal humans, they will return."

Albert thought about the appearance of the hybrids and then thought about the attitude of normal people towards Oak, and could only nod in agreement.

"What about you, Mills? Do you want to return to Rohan?" Tanes asked another human.

Mills shook his head and said respectfully, "Lord Tanes, my homeland has been reduced to ashes by the Orcs, and my family and friends are all gone. Returning there would only add to my sorrow, leaving nothing worth reminiscing about. You said before that you are still a lord. Please allow me to follow you and live under your protection."

Mills then added, "Among the surviving compatriots outside, there are also many who have become rootless like me. I want to start a new life with them. Lord Tanes, please allow us to follow you."

Tanes smiled and said, "I welcome you all, but my territory is very busy right now, and everyone has things to do."

When Mills heard Tanes's agreement, he quickly said, "We would love to be able to rebuild our new home with our own hands."

"Then go and ask how many people are willing to go with you. As for those who don't want to go... Albert, you are responsible for taking these people back to Gondor, is that okay?" Tanes asked.

Albert nodded decisively, "Of course not, Lord Tanes. I will make proper arrangements for them after returning to Gondor."

Of the remaining 23 surviving humans, 19 were willing to follow Mills to Tanes' territory, and only 4 were willing to return to Gondor with Albert.

Most of the people following Mills were elderly people, women and children, while the four people following Albert were all young men.

Another day passed, and after giving the surviving humans enough rest, Tanes decided to go back.

In addition to the many things to do in the Golden Tree's territory, the "Soul Collector" brought by Tanes has absorbed all the souls that died in Takiedel this time.

So many souls were enough for him to summon the city of Stonewell.

Tanes made a rough estimate and found that at least a thousand Orcs died in the hybrids' attack, but more than thirty hybrids themselves were also killed.

The most casualties were among the Winged Hybrids. Many of them were killed when they rushed into the house to protect the Scaled Hybrids and obstructed the Orc archers.

But the hybrids' strength is unquestionable as they were able to defeat the larger force with a number of just over 200.

The bodies of the fallen hybrids were frozen by Tanes using snow magic, and were then carried by their compatriots onto the carts left behind by the Orcs.

These hybrids had shown their bravery to Tanes, and Tanes could not just bury their bodies in Longdale.

"I'll leave Longdedale to you. After I go back, I will immediately summon some of your compatriots to come over and bring some really delicious food to support you." Tanes said to the lion hybrid who came out to see him off.

The lion hybrid looked at the hybrids who were pushing carts filled with the bodies of their compatriots and responded, "Lord Tanes, we are truly grateful that you have allowed us to embrace the glory of battle once again. We are also very grateful that you have allowed my compatriots to return to the trees after death."

"The past is the past, so don't dwell on the past." Tanes smiled and said goodbye to the lion hybrid.

On the other side, Albert, who was preparing to return to Gondor, also said goodbye to Mills and others.

They both walked over together, their complexions looking much better than yesterday, their numb expressions gone, replaced by a longing for the future.

"Thank you again, Lord Tanes. When I return, I will report your deeds to Gondor and tell your story to the people."

After Albert finished speaking sincerely, he waved goodbye to Tanes and left in the opposite direction with his four compatriots under the protection of four winged hybrids.

"Let's go too, it's time to go home," said Tanes.
