Mystery: When the Fool Meets the Masked Fool
Chapter 45: 3 Strange Objects
Chapter 45 Three Strange Objects
“Mr. Fool, I hope you can help me project the images in my mind.” Ceris turned to Klein.
"Okay." Klein's tone was calm, as if this was just a trivial matter. Although he had never collaborated with the Tarot Club members to project images, he imagined it was similar to materializing a diary.
Then Klein mobilized the space above the gray fog to cooperate with Serris, and the gray fog above the long table began to condense.
"I have three rare items here. The first is called 'The Parchment of the Never-Ceasing Chatter.'" As Serris thought, the gray mist on the long table condensed into a purple parchment scroll, with something written on it in an unknown language. In the center of the parchment scroll, there was a mouth with its tongue sticking out.
Audrey couldn't help but lean back at the creepy look.
"It feeds on history, its greedy tongue stirring up civilization's collective subconscious, shattering it. I took it from a genius... who sealed it by forging the memories of a false world for it to devour, thus satisfying its insatiable gluttony."
Then it's useless to give it to me. This was the first thought in the minds of the three people around the long table. After all, no one present could forge the memory of a world, and once they got it, they would be unable to seal it.
"Although you don't have the means to seal it, I will give you a box to help you seal it. It can devour the thoughts, memories, and even history of people within a certain range."
"Mr. Devil, what does it mean to devour history?" Audrey asked curiously.
"Simply put, if the history of a place is eaten, then the history of that place will become blurred in the memories of others. The more that is eaten, the greater the impact of this blurring. At first, it may only affect ordinary people, but if it is given enough time, it can even affect angels."
Seeing that Audrey had no more questions, Ceris continued to introduce: "This is Fuling Gum."
The gray mist changed and turned into a soft rubber tube that looked like a toothpaste package.
"This is also a rare item I obtained from that genius," he paused and added, "This time I bought it."
"This is a genius invention. Apply about one-fifth of it to your eyelids and you'll have good luck for about 24 hours."
This description immediately made Audrey's eyes light up. Alger and Klein immediately thought of the monster route.
Before Audrey could raise her hand to bid, Ceris moved on to the next item. The gray mist transformed into a dark green, 24-sided die, each side painted with a different golden pattern.
"This is the Unpredictable Die, a relatively common artifact among us Masked Fools. After rolling it, you might receive a windfall, or perhaps find a beautiful love, but more often the outcome is illness, bad luck, a curse, or a lifelong companionship with the plum rains. It can only be used three times, after which it loses its effect." The gray mist dispersed, transforming into three artifacts.
"The Never-Stop-Talking Parchment is a high-risk item, selling for 15000 pounds. A tube of Felix Gum lasts for 120 hours, worth 1000 pounds. Finally, this dice, while impressive, doesn't actually have much impact; it's just a toy. 500 pounds."
Audrey raised her hand: "Mr. Devil, does this Fuling Gum have no negative effects?"
"No, its biggest drawback is that it can only be used five times." Serris shook his head. "Also, its luck isn't omnipotent. For example, if a true god is determined to kill you, then this little bit of luck won't be enough."
Audrey rolled her eyes and came up with a good idea.
"Mr. Devil, I'm willing to pay 1500 pounds for the Fuling Gum and the Vientiane Impermanence Dice."
Alger had obviously discovered this loophole, but he was certain that his financial resources were far inferior to Audrey's, so he had no intention of competing with Audrey.
120 hours of luck! Although Klein was envious, Mr. Fool was too shy to be the beggar.
In the end, he suffered because of his high quality. If Klein had lower quality and asked directly, Ceris might have given it to him directly.
Audrey suddenly thought of something: "So, how can I get these two rare items?"
"Here," Serris offered a suggestion. "There's a ball at Count Wolf's house tonight. As a noble lady, even if you don't attend, the rest of the family will definitely attend. I'll bury them in Count Wolf's backyard, and you can have your extraordinary pets find them. The audience will definitely find them easily. Afterwards, you can leave the gold pounds there, and I'll come get them."
That's not how the audience's abilities are used. Audrey couldn't help but puff out her cheeks at Ceres' words.
"Okay." Audrey agreed.
Afterwards, the Tarot Club members talked for a while. Then, Mr. Fool announced the end of the Tarot Club with a voice saying, "No one may recite my name without my permission."
