Chapter 374 Invisibility Cloak and Trap
"Look!" Lina exclaimed excitedly, pointing in the direction the light was extending. "This light seems to be guiding us to a specific place."
As the light moved, the magic runes shone brighter and brighter, and the originally messy patterns gradually became clearer, forming a blurry map outline.
At the edge of the map, a small dot shimmering with golden light stands out.
“That must be where the Invisibility Cloak was teleported to,” Grek said confidently.
"Judging from the residual magical aura in the runes, this place is very far from Hogwarts, deep in the mountains to the north."
There was a powerful magical barrier there, making it difficult for ordinary people to approach, let alone detect the invisibility cloak.
Kiel frowned, his eyes full of confusion: "But why was the invisibility cloak teleported there? Who is controlling all of this?"
Lina pondered for a moment and said, "The ancient magic in these ruins sensed the special power of the invisibility cloak and automatically activated the teleportation mechanism. No one was controlling it from behind."
Or perhaps… some powerful mage deliberately used these ruins to move the invisibility cloak to that hidden location for some ulterior motive.
Grek slowly stood up, dusted himself off, and gazed resolutely northward:
"Whatever the reason, we must find the invisibility cloak."
It concerns whether the fairy race can escape the wizard's enslavement. Pack your things, and we'll set off immediately for that place.
The other two fairies nodded, their eyes gleaming with determination, ready to face the upcoming challenge.
Several days later, the three fairies arrived at the calculated teleportation point.
A salty, damp wind swept over them as Grek, Lina, and Kiel stood at the edge of the cliff, their feet resting on obsidian ruins covered in dark patterns.
This is also an ancient magical ruin, but unlike the previous one, it is more well preserved, and most of the magic circles are still functioning.
Greck gripped the bronze claws at his waist. These were the latest invention of the fairy race. Although they could not enhance a wizard's magic power as much as a magic wand, they could still provide a certain boost.
More importantly, this claw is imbued with magnetic magic, enabling it to manipulate metal in combat, making it the primary weapon of the fairy race.
Greck's sharp fingertips traced the dark patterns on the edge of the stone platform as he looked up at Lina:
"There's no mistake, the residual energy from the teleportation array matches, this should be the place."
Lina nodded, pressing her ear against the half-collapsed wall; the tremors emanating from within made her eyelashes flutter.
"There is a passage inside, behind the broken pillar."
She reached out, and the sharp claws in her palm gleamed with a blue-black light. A large amount of metal flew out from the leather bag at her waist, pushing aside a loose obsidian stone next to the stone pillar, revealing an opening just wide enough for one person to pass through.
Tiny, fluorescent moss fragments are embedded in the cave entrance walls, faintly illuminating the stone steps that extend downwards.
Kiel was the first to take off the leather backpack on his back and take out three small magic lanterns.
The wick is made of star velvet grass, a plant unique to the fairy tribe, and emits a soft silver-blue light when lit.
“I’ll go first,” he said, raising the lantern above his head. The stone steps were covered in a thick layer of dust, and only the footprints of the three of them were visible. “Watch out for the runes on the stone walls, don’t trigger any traps.” The three of them walked down the stone steps, the passage filled with the smell of aged dust and rusting metal.
In the glow of the fluorescent moss, one can occasionally see the murals remaining on the stone wall, depicting a wizard wearing a pointed hat fighting a fairy wielding a short blade, with the wizard ultimately defeating the fairy.
The three fairies looked grim, but they all sighed. They had lost, and even if they were unwilling to accept it, it was still a fact.
As the eldest fairy, Grek was more composed than the other two. He patted them on the shoulders and offered words of comfort:
"As long as we find the invisibility cloak and obtain the power of death, we will be able to leave this world and no longer be enslaved by wizards."
The two fairies nodded, their eyes filled with anticipation.
"Look there!" Lina suddenly stopped and pointed to the stone chamber at the end of the passage.
In the center of the stone chamber stood a stone coffin, its lid half-open. The coffin was empty, but the magical fluctuations on its walls told the three fairies that the Invisibility Cloak was hidden inside.
With the information given by Death, they knew exactly what the magical fluctuations of the Deathly Hallows were, so they could tell at a glance.
The fairies looked at each other, their faces showing excitement.
They pushed open the sarcophagus lid with force, revealing a silver fabric lying quietly inside, enveloped in a faint magical aura—the invisibility cloak they had been searching for.
Lina couldn't help but exclaim in a low voice, "It's true!"
She turned to look at Greik, the silver-blue lantern reflecting on her face, her eyes sparkling with laughter. "We really found it! It's a real invisibility cloak!"
Greck strode to the stone platform, reached out and gently lifted a corner of the invisibility cloak. The fabric was as light as a cloud, yet it carried an unmistakable ancient magical aura.
He clenched his fist tightly, his voice filled with barely suppressed excitement: "It was just as I expected! With it, we can summon Death, obtain the power of Death, and break free from the wizard's enslavement!"
Kiel also came closer, and the light from the lantern shone on the invisibility cloak, making the faint halo even more obvious.
He patted Greck on the shoulder with a smile, his tone full of accomplishment: "At first I was worried that other treasure hunters might beat us to it, or that this was just a trap left by Harry Potter. Luckily we got there first, and it wasn't a trap at all!"
"That's right, that's right, our long-held wish has finally come true!" Lina held up a corner of the invisibility cloak and waved it in the light at the entrance of the passage. The part of the fabric that came into contact with the light actually disappeared, leaving only a transparent patch of air.
Her eyes crinkled with laughter: "This is amazing! No wonder it's a sacred artifact that even Death couldn't detect! Grek, let's keep it safe and head back to the tribe to report this!"
Grek nodded, took out a piece of deerskin embroidered with the Raven Clan emblem from his backpack, and carefully wrapped the Invisibility Cloak around it.
"Let's go! Go back and tell the elders that we haven't let them down!" His voice was louder than usual, filled with barely suppressed joy. "We'll never have to be afraid of those wizards again!"
But just as they were cheering, Greck felt a sudden blur before his eyes, and the invisibility cloak in Lina's hand became much more blurry for some reason.
Lina then noticed as well, and exclaimed in surprise, "Ahhh, why did my invisibility cloak disappear!"
Just then, an unfamiliar voice suddenly rang out from behind them:
"Because that wasn't an invisibility cloak; it was just a materialized illusion magic." (End of Chapter)
