“You go in too,” Cohen said, pulling Arnold, the only one left in the tent. “Hurry up, hurry up.”
“Me? That’s not appropriate… your whole family…” Arnold said awkwardly.
"Don't you really, really, really want to see the basilisk, fire dragon, nightmare unicorn, and chimera?" Cohen tempted. "Some Aurors never get to see in their entire lives."
"Keeping these things is all illegal, isn't it..." Arnold's lips twitched. "And this box with the Unseen Extension Charm is too—I'm an Auror, after all, and don't forget, Amos in the next tent is from the Department of Magical Creature Control..."
"Would you leak the secret?" Cohen didn't think Arnold would leak the secret. He even dared to forge Cohen's report. This guy's relationship with Edward was so close that it was about to become very British.
“I don’t want Amos to come in and find that you’ve all crawled into an illegal box,” Arnold sighed. “If Edward goes to jail, who will I talk to? You guys go in, I’ll keep watch for you.”
“You’re so kind,” Cohen praised. “If I ever build a Dementor Empire, I’ll definitely give you a piece of land.”
“What’s my relationship with Edward—” Arnold said confidently about his friendship with Edward, but Cohen’s next sentence made his eyes widen suddenly, “Wait, what did you say about Dementors?!”
"Just kidding, because I find it kind of funny how scared you are right now." Cohen waved his hand. "If I really did that, Edward and Rose wouldn't let me off the hook."
As he spoke, Cohen quickly crawled into the box to prevent Edward and the others from inspecting the unfinished castle first.
Although the infernals have all hidden in the castle's underground under Cohen's manipulation, if Edward and his companions head straight for the castle out of curiosity, they might still discover traces of dark magic inside.
"So big?"
As soon as Cohen came down, he heard Rose's exclamation.
Grasslands, forests, caves in the distance, wooden houses on the left, and a towering half-castle.
There was even a huge stone statue head behind the wooden house.
It is indeed so large that it can be disorienting, especially when someone jumps down from the opening of the box.
“I used seventy-seven bird-snake feathers,” Cohen said, coming to the three men. “And Mr. Scamander didn’t even take my money.”
"That castle is the one you said you'd build during summer vacation?" Edward's attention was entirely focused on the unfinished black castle. "Did you build it all yourself?"
Herbert didn't speak, but his eyes were clearly filled with relief and tears—at least even if Cohen was being watched by the Ministry of Magic, this place would allow Cohen to avoid the noise of those wizards.
"I had the Chimera do it; the goat is very capable." Cohen gave the credit to the goat. Just building a castle with magic would take a wizard a lot of time, and Cohen, who needed to go to school, shouldn't have had that much time.
I can't just tell them I used a corpse... Desecrating a corpse is too evil, they'll definitely stop me.
"Where is the Chimera?" Rose looked around, but apart from the sheep and pigs in the distant sheep and pig pens, she couldn't see any living creatures.
“It’s invisible.” Cohen stared at the Chimera’s soul, stepped forward, and grabbed the lion’s mane.
It was circling around Cohen and his group, curiously examining Rose, whom Cohen had brought in.
As for Herbert, it had already met him at Burke Manor.
"Roar!" The lion roared uncomfortably after its mane was grabbed, and Rose seemed startled.
Edward, after also shuddering, began to laugh at Rose's frightened expression.
"Hahahaha! Scared, huh? You're not very brave... not very brave..." Under Rose's gaze, Edward's laughter lasted only two seconds before stopping, finally turning into two dry grumbles. "Sorry, we went invisible to avoid some unnecessary conflict." The goat apologized to Rose, then looked at Herbert, "Ah, Herbert, it's been a long time."
"It's been a long time." Herbert smiled slightly. Seeing the Chimera Beast reminded him of the days he had spent running around trying to revive Cohen.
“This is my mom,” Cohen said, pointing to Rose in front of the goat. “My parents should be together now… Come to think of it, this number is indeed a bit unusual…”
"It's better than nothing," said the long-horned water snake. "We've never seen our parents."
“Hello, Cohen’s mother,” the goat greeted Rose politely.
"Hello." Rose was quite impressed with the polite chimera, even though the drooling lion that wanted to lick Cohen didn't seem very bright.
Next, it's time to introduce Sissoko and the little snake to Rose.
After leading the three into the wooden house, they could immediately see two snake monsters, one large and one small, neatly coiled into two lumps of green excrement in the living room.
"[Eat...eat...]" The little snake monster's head was buried under its body, still mumbling in its sleep.
Sissoko woke up after smelling the familiar scent and poked his head out from between his curled-up body.
【Herbert!】
Sissoko excitedly rushed towards Herbert.
Rose, wary of Parseltongue, pulled Cohen and Herbert behind her and swiftly drew her wand, creating a transparent barrier between them and Sissoko.
Because Sissoko looked like he was about to pounce on them and bite them.
"Don't get excited—" Cohen called out to Sissoko to stop him, but it seemed too late. Sissoko couldn't stop in time and crashed headfirst into Rose's armored charm.
"Ouch!" Sissoko cried out in pain.
"Mom!" The little basilisk was startled awake, flicking its tongue as it searched for Sissoko's location.
“It’s alright, Rose.” Herbert patted Rose on the shoulder, looking at Sissoko with a complicated expression. “It remembers my scent… but I don’t recognize the little one—is it its offspring?”
Herbert's last question was directed at Cohen.
“It’s kind of like its child,” Cohen said. “Wait, I’ll have to explain that to them later—”
“This is my mom.” Cohen introduced Rose to Sissoko, then sternly warned the little basilisk in Parseltongue, [Don’t open your mouth at them, or you’ll be thrown away.]
"Awoo..." The little snake monster shrank its neck and said cautiously, "You can't eat me if you don't open your mouth."
"Your mother?" Sissoko asked excitedly, but became visibly disappointed after discovering that Rose was a completely human being.
"What kind of look is that on my wife?!" Edward pointedly accused Sissoko.
Why does this snake look so pitiful?
“He just felt it was a pity that his mother didn’t have scales,” Cohen explained.
"You dare to covet my wife?!" Edward said angrily.
"I want a wife too!" Sissoko turned to Cohen and demanded. "It's not fair, every one of your fathers has a wife!"
