Chapter 377 Dumbledore's Blame-Shifting Approach - His Exclusive Student
Harry shook his head. Sirius and Dumbledore helped him up, and he seemed to still be recalling what had just happened in the cemetery.
“The trophy he and I were holding…” Harry said, looking at the half-broken trophy, “the trophy cracked—and then I couldn’t see him anymore—”
"The key to the door has been broken into two parts," Dumbledore said after the crowd dispersed. "Cohen should have been taken to another place—Sirius. Take Harry to rest first; he had some terrible things happen tonight."
“You stay here, I’ll go find Cohen—” Dumbledore then said to Edward.
The next second, Cohen appeared at the entrance to the maze not far away, accompanied by a white light.
"Cohen!" Rose rushed over and hugged Cohen tightly.
Edward and Herbert both breathed a sigh of relief.
"Did something happen to you? What's wrong—"
“It’s similar to what you’ve encountered,” Cohen said to Rose, who was holding him, and Edward and Herbert, who had arrived beside him. “Four people tried to kill me with a Patronus Charm—”
"Guardian Angel? Are you alright?" Edward pulled Cohen out of Rose's arms in a panic and began to feel Cohen's body, trying to make sure that Cohen was not missing any flesh.
“Even if my guardian spirit attacks me, I won’t lose a single piece of flesh…and don’t you know?” Cohen blinked. “You know what my guardian spirit is again…”
“But that’s just… Oh…” Edward’s eyes widened, his expression switching back and forth between sudden realization and “That’s not right.” “But me too, but I don’t feel any obvious difference between it and the other guardian spirits…”
"Have you ever been a Dementor?"
Cohen mimicked the words of the Silver Key member,
"Some things cannot be generalized..."
After exchanging only a few words, Cohen and Edward, along with Harry and Sirius, were taken to the castle by Dumbledore, followed by a worried Professor McGonagall and Moody, who was huffing and puffing as he followed with his cane.
“I need to talk to old Crouch,” Moody said, frowning. “The trophy being compromised means there’s a mole within the Ministry of Magic.”
There was indeed a mole within the organization.
Cohen had seen it in the memories of the gang leader, whose letter to them, "Silver Key," mentioned that no Ministry of Magic officials would stop them from switching the trophies, as there was an inside man to create a window of opportunity.
However, the letter did not mention who the mole was, which clearly shows that the leader was not willing to trust his subordinates.
They were taken to Professor McGonagall's office on the second floor—because Dumbledore's office was eight floors away.
As Cohen knew, Dumbledore confirmed some details of Voldemort's resurrection with Harry, including how Harry was bound by the hooded Death Eaters, how his blood was drawn, and how he watched Voldemort crawl out of a cauldron—
Harry seemed to think Voldemort had appeared out of nowhere in the cauldron, but Cohen felt it was more like Voldemort had been holed up in that cauldron for a long time and was quite shy, not wanting to jump into the cauldron shirtless in front of Harry.
Cohen didn't care whether Voldemort was shirtless or not; he only cared about when Voldemort would be able to fish that flesh puppet out of that pot of black mud.
Because when Cohen now projects his consciousness onto the flesh puppet lent to Voldemort, all he can see is the soft, cooled dregs around him, and Voldemort angrily reprimanding the Death Eaters around him.
Cohen even felt as if he heard someone say, "If Cohen were here, he certainly wouldn't be standing there motionless."
It's not good to put one down and praise another... "He said... that my blood would be more effective than anyone else's..." Harry said, "He also regretted that Cohen wasn't taken along; he originally wanted to use both of our blood..."
“He’ll be unhappy if we actually use it,” Cohen said, pursing his lips.
Did Voldemort think his father had too many bones or the Death Eaters had too many hands, so that he could keep dying and being resurrected?
Resurrecting someone with Cohen's blood, which is full of liquid curses, is too abstract. It feels like the potion would be useless as soon as it was put into the pot...
"Why did James and Lily appear after Harry and Voldemort's two wands were linked?" Sirius asked Dumbledore.
“The Flashback Charm,” Dumbledore said. “Harry and Voldemort’s wands are made from the same phoenix feather. If the wand owners insist on the two wands fighting, some very rare phenomena will occur…”
“Those are…the souls of the dead?” Herbert seemed to be thinking about something.
“Those who are dead will not return,” Dumbledore said. “The wand summons only remnants of the past, and only produces phenomena like echoes playing in reverse.”
“I can still hear my parents talking to me,” Harry said, trembling. “They…they’re like they’re still alive.”
“The Echo retains the appearance and character of the living, but it is not the living person we cherish,” Dumbledore sighed.
“But he’s back—is he…” Harry said anxiously, as if the whole world’s sense of security was leaving him.
“Harry, you were very brave tonight, facing him, confronting him, and returning safely. Your courage is on par with those wizards who fought Voldemort to the death during his heyday,” Dumbledore said. “These things are beyond your control, and you don’t need to—we will deal with Voldemort’s problem. You should get some rest. Sirius? Could you take Harry to the school hospital so Madam Pomfrey can treat his wounds? He can also rest there tonight.”
“Perhaps another dose of sleeping pills,” Sirius said to Harry. “I guess you might not be able to sleep very well.”
Sirius accompanied Harry as they left.
The next topic of conversation turned to Cohen.
But Dumbledore told Edward and the others to go back first, as he wanted to speak with Cohen alone.
"Silver key, kidnapping, counterattack."
Cohen yawned.
"I am used to it."
“At least that terrible prophecy has passed safely,” Dumbledore said.
Dumbledore didn't let Cohen go back to sleep, nor did he say anything.
It was obvious they wanted to hear Cohen talk about the Silver Key incident—after all, the Ministry of Magic was involved in the fact that Cohen and Harry were teleported away by the trophy.
But even after Cohen recounted the details of the Silver Key plan, Dumbledore still couldn't find out who the mole was.
“There’s a mastermind behind this,” Cohen said. “But I think they’ll come out on their own sooner or later…”
“Perhaps we can take the initiative this time,” Dumbledore said. “You mean, some Silver Key members are currently poaching magical creatures in Greece, is that right?”
"Are you finally coming out of retirement?" Cohen asked.
“I remember mentioning Mr. Scamander to you before,” Dumbledore said. “He happens to be planning to visit some friends near the Aegean Sea at this time, perhaps you could go with him.”
