Chapter 579 The best performances need an audience
As night fell, Cohen slipped out of the dormitory under the pretext of going to the toilet.
Filch couldn't find himself, firstly because he could become invisible, and secondly because Mrs. Lorris didn't dare to approach him at all.
Arriving at the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom on the third floor—Malfoy certainly knew how to pick a place; Snape's classroom was arguably the safest spot. Even if Filch found out, he could bring Snape out to help him avoid punishment.
"Knock knock".
Cohen suddenly removed his invisibility in the classroom, startling Malfoy.
"Ah—" Malfoy, who was sitting at a table, almost fell off the table.
"How could someone so cowardly kill Dumbledore?" Cohen raised an eyebrow.
"Shh!" Malfoy quickly shushed them, "Don't say that here—"
“It’s alright, Dumbledore is already asleep,” Cohen said. “The old man can’t stay up all night. Tell me your purpose.”
“I’ve found a way to bring Death Eaters into schools…” Malfoy said.
"You think you can't do it alone?"
“I need someone to keep an eye on me,” Malfoy argued, head bowed. “That way, the Dark Lord will believe I’ve completed the mission… and even if I can’t kill him, this credit will keep him from harming my parents…”
"Now you realize life isn't going to be easy following Voldemort?" Cohen said, leaning against a table. "A good plan, but what does it have to do with me?"
"I've heard you know alchemy..."
“Voldemort said it,” Cohen said. “I guess he told you everything he knew about me—yes, I know a little.”
“Borgin Burke’s has a disappearing cabinet,” Malfoy said. “I bought it. Hogwarts has one too. You put something in it, and it comes out from somewhere else—but it seems to be broken. I’d like you to help me fix it…”
“Okay,” Cohen agreed. “What price are you willing to pay?”
"Any amount of Galleons is fine—"
“I don’t need Galleons,” Cohen said. “Give me something real.”
"I—" Malfoy paused, realizing he had nothing to offer Cohen except money.
“Fine,” Cohen said, somewhat bored. “Here’s what we’ll do: you can suffer a little. Since your parents can live as long as you send the Death Eaters into the school and participate in the killing of Dumbledore… then let me take Dumbledore’s life. Don’t use any spells on him.”
"Huh?" Malfoy asked, puzzled. "But—whether it's you or me, isn't the result the same?"
“The outcome will be different, of course,” Cohen said. “I want to kill Dumbledore with my own hands, take his wand, and have the Ministry of Magic put me on their wanted list.”
“But isn’t your father a minister?” Malfoy asked.
“It doesn’t conflict with me being a villain.” Cohen raised an eyebrow. “Not only that, can you subtly spread the news that I had a fight with the minister to the Death Eaters?”
"I... I'll try my best..." Malfoy said through gritted teeth.
“Very good.” Cohen nodded. “Then I’ll be going—”
"But I haven't told you where the disappearing cabinet at Hogwarts is—"
"I know everything," Cohen said before disappearing.

No wonder so many people like to show off; Cohen is getting a little carried away with it now.
I can't even imagine how satisfying it would be to cast the Avada Kedavra Curse on Dumbledore in public. "You've been grinning like that for almost two days now."
In the lounge on Saturday, the Earl looked at Cohen and said:
"you are pregnant?"
"Shut up." Cohen's expression changed, and he said fiercely, "Where's your son? Doesn't he want you anymore?"
"It's learning to associate with other owls and catch field mice," the Earl said, turning his head away. "It can't say anything nice."
“Thank you for the compliment, you too,” Cohen said.
"Cohen, still in the dorm?" Ron excitedly burst into the lounge, saw Cohen and the Earl bickering, and leaned over to say, "We have Apparition class later, aren't you going?"
“Isn’t that going to happen later? I can’t just stand there waiting for a professor to teach me something I already know,” Cohen said, reclining in his armchair. “Then why did you come back?”
“I’m coming back to change into something lighter,” Ron said mysteriously. “Ernie said that the less you carry around, the faster you can learn Apparition…”
“The practitioner should be shirtless,” Cohen said. “That way, if the body is dislocated or a piece of flesh is lost, medicine can be applied immediately—don’t be silly, this thing, like arithmetic and divination, never lies; if you don’t know, you don’t know.”
Ron shook his head in disbelief and walked back to his dormitory humming a strange tune.
A short while later, Ron, shivering from the cold, came out with Cohen.
"Are you sure you don't need to put your clothes back on?" Cohen asked, unable to bear it any longer.
"Just to impress Hermione even once—" Ron said, his arms trembling wildly.
Cohen shook his head and cast a thermal spell on Ron's clothes.
"This is—" Ron said in surprise, "It's getting warmer! Does this mean I don't need to buy clothes anymore—"
“This spell is only temporary,” Cohen said, rubbing his forehead. “It’ll probably last for an hour. I’m just worried you’ll catch a cold and infect the whole dorm, and then keep me awake…”
The Phantom Transformation class was scheduled for the auditorium, and Cohen didn't leave until ten minutes before the end.
Upon arriving at the Great Hall, they encountered Harry, who was already waiting there. Harry was listening to several Ravenclaw students discussing the precautions for Apparition—"If you're not focused enough, you might end up splitting into two parts—for example, your body arrives at the destination, but your arm or head remains in the same place..."
It's hard to say whether hearing these precautions before class is a good thing or not.
Harry's face was deathly pale.
The Apparition class not only had teachers sent by the Ministry of Magic, but also the heads of the various houses, possibly to prevent students from splitting into different forms.
After all, the Apparition professor from the Ministry of Magic was very small and thin, and didn't look like someone who could protect students.
"Good morning," said the professor from the Ministry of Magic. "My name is Wickie Tykroth, and I will be your Apparition instructor for the next twelve weeks. I hope to help you prepare for the Apparition exam..."
For some reason, Cohen always felt that the professor would steal a glance at him from time to time.
“His name is Waikiki,” Cohen whispered to Ron, whose expression suddenly froze.
Professor Tecros explained that Apparition could only be used within the Great Hall, and then waved his wand, conjuring an old-fashioned wooden circle in front of everyone.
Then, they were allowed to begin their experiment.
