Conquer Europe from the West

Chapter 15 A tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye
Visible light communication is an old thing.
On Earth, ever since humans mastered the manufacturing process of mirrors, they have begun to intentionally or unintentionally use the reflective properties of mirrors to transmit messages.
It wasn't until 1904 that Germany developed a heliographic communication device that could use light to transmit Morse code signals, and it was soon promoted in various countries.
Compared with ordinary radio communications, the daylight communicator does not require electricity and does not require the user to master the use of a telegraph.
All they had to do was aim the reflected light at the target and use a baffle to emit light and dark signals using Morse code.
To put it simply, it is something like a control tower.
What Ryan wanted to do was to temporarily set up such a system.
It's just human power.
Ignoring Brinkman, who was obviously having a mental breakdown, Ryan took the shaving mirrors from several soldiers and walked out into the yard.
He first looked up at the sky, and after confirming the position of the sun, he asked McIver to stand aside with a mirror.
Then, Ryan looked again in the direction of the single-wing reconnaissance plane in the distance.
After confirming the specific location, he turned around, held up the mirror, and found the reconnaissance plane hovering at low altitude in the reflection.
"Sergeant, use your mirror to reflect the sunlight into my mirror," Ryan said to McIver.
"Yes."
McIver immediately took two steps forward, stretched out his hand, and shook the small lens in his hand.
Ryan felt a sudden strong light shining next to his eyes: "Okay, stop!"
McIver stopped moving immediately.
Ryan began to adjust the lens in his hand, and after some attempts, he finally locked onto the reconnaissance plane in the distance again.
Without hesitation, Ryan immediately began to shake the lens in his hand.
At the same time, Wolfe and other soldiers nearby also began to imitate him and use lenses to direct sunlight towards the reconnaissance plane in the distance.
Brinkman, holding a telescope, quickly discovered the change in the aircraft's attitude.
The pilot in the back seat, who was not much bigger than a sesame seed, first leaned forward to look at the reflection in the mirror for a long time, then took out a telescope and looked at the location where the reflection appeared.
But then he pulled the control stick, making the plane make a big circle in the sky and began to fly straight towards where Ryan and the others were.
"Lieutenant! The reconnaissance plane is turning!"
Brinkman shouted.
"I see!"
Ryan immediately put down the lens in his hand: "Leave one group to continue to use the mirror to guide, the rest of you can stop."
The plane is very fast.
In less than ten minutes, the reconnaissance plane with a huge double-headed black hawk painted on its vertical tail flew over Ryan and his men.
They first circled at a height where the target's identity could be confirmed with the naked eye, and then landed in a field outside the village.
Ryan and Brinkman ran the fastest, and they reached the side of the plane before it came to a complete stop.
"It's Lieutenant Fleet and Second Lieutenant Herman, right?" The pilot did not get out of the plane, holding a pistol in his hand.
Ryan, who was about to approach them to discuss business, froze for a moment, but upon seeing they were only second lieutenants, he immediately started cursing: "It's Lieutenant Ryan Flieger and Second Lieutenant Mia von Brinkmann! Who taught you this? Aren't you afraid of being harassed? And, the way you drew your gun was too obvious!"
"terribly sorry!"
The pilot, realizing his movements had been discovered, immediately put away his gun and said, "Commander-in-Chief Brian from the headquarters has specifically requested that you be taken back. The rescue team will be here soon!"
But Ryan interrupted him directly: "We already knew about this!"
"what?"
Ryan continued, "Fallan's people sent out an airship fleet earlier. I don't know if you saw it, but that airship fleet was definitely heading for us!"
"We didn't see the airship. Can you give us a specific direction?"
The pilot patted the machine gun in front of his cockpit as he spoke. "But Farlan's airship doesn't have many offensive weapons. Even if they catch up, there's no need to run. We'll definitely win."
"Let's not talk about that for now!" Ryan felt deep down that this guy was a little unreliable, so he turned his head to look at the observer in the back seat: "You just said there was a rescue team? How many people are there? What kind of equipment do they have? Which route did they take? Who is the commander?"
"Yes! They're coming from Highway 21!" the backseat observer roared over the roar of the engine. "There's a whole assault company heading this way! They're carrying both light and heavy weapons! Their commander is Lieutenant Schneider of the st Regiment!"
As he spoke, he looked down at his watch and after two seconds of silence, he said, "If nothing unexpected happens, they will be here within an hour. We need to move to the rear now! We need to tell them about your presence here!"
"and many more!"
Ryan immediately reached out and grabbed the edge of the cockpit: "Can you bring someone with you?"
The pilot immediately shouted, "No! This is the limit."
Ryan: "Then you guys help me pass on a message!"
"Order the rear troops all the way to the 502nd Battalion's camp! If anyone objects, just say it's a direct order from Lieutenant Ryan Flig!"
"If they refuse, just say we've returned to the 502nd Battalion camp!"
"Also, remember to tell them to get all their machine guns ready for me!"
"But that would conflict with the mission behind the scenes!"
In fact, the reconnaissance aircraft unit did not have to obey the orders of the senior officers of the infantry unit, but the observer still gave Ryan enough face and did not say that he would not speak up, but just used the mission conflict as an excuse.
Ryan's words were also very straightforward about this.
"Then let them wait to be blown up into the sky by Farlan's airship fleet!"
"They've sent four airships over here! They're over 200 kilometers to the north! We have to find a way to hold them here, or we'll be unable to mobilize our rear troops or carry out other operations! You don't want someone standing over your head and spying on you every day, do you?"
"But..." The observer was still hesitant.
Seeing this, Ryan reached out and grabbed the white scarf around his neck.
He was too lazy to talk nonsense with this guy.
"We'll create chaos in the 502nd Battalion camp to draw all the enemy's attention. If the enemy airships learn of this, they'll definitely prioritize returning to defend. Then, you'll cooperate with the assault company to take them down!"
"That's not a request, Lieutenant!"
"We've all been bullied to death by those damn Farlan guys! If we don't teach them a lesson, won't that make them rich?"
