A farming master in Stardew Valley

Chapter 37 Aren’t You Afraid of Me?

After all, people's physiques are different. Game characters do not need to drink water, go to the toilet, or eat to maintain vital signs. They eat only to restore their physical strength and blood volume. If they don't work or fight monsters, they won't consume any energy in a day. Even a robot would shake its head when seeing this.

Leon is just an ordinary time traveler with a system and cannot experience this kind of high-intensity life.

Just watering the plants every day, going for a walk in the wild, going to the town to eat something, see girls, and make friends with some strangers who can chat with him is just right for Leon.

As time passed and the collection progressed, Lyon walked to the edge of the remote forest. The trees and vegetation around him began to decrease. As he walked further, the view in front of him suddenly opened up.

It is still a mountainous landscape, but the hillside in front of us is indeed extremely flat, as if it was naturally formed, with very little vegetation and a wide view. The only eye-catching thing is a giant ancient tree growing on this hillside that requires five or six people to hug it.

After walking a short distance further, Lyon saw a small villa built alone on the equally flat area at the bottom of the slope. The villa had only the main structure.

Behind the villa there is a large open-air courtyard where neatly stacked building materials are stored. Various cut stones and wood of various sizes are piled in it. Only these are stored in the area with a simple roof to protect these materials from wind and rain.

Leon, on the other hand, saw Robin splitting wooden boards by hand with a hacksaw among the building materials, so he stood upwind and shouted, "Hi! Robin!"

Robin heard the shout from above and looked up in confusion. When he saw Leon standing on the slope, he laughed: "Ha, Leon! I didn't expect you to come to the northern foothills. Want to take a walk?"

"I guess so. Is this area all yours?" Leon nodded and asked Robin.

"Well, after all, not many people like to come to this mountainous area, and the space is large and the natural resources are abundant. My family has lived in this area for generations." Robin explained, and then rubbed his forehead, which was a little short of oxygen because he had kept it up for too long.

"Can't you just come down and talk to me? My neck can't stand it if I keep looking up like this."

"I still have to walk around here, we'll talk later, you go ahead and get busy." Leon said to Robin with a smile, then waved goodbye and continued his journey of exploration.

Walking along this flat hillside again, Lyon felt a little disappointed. Perhaps because there was too little vegetation, Lyon's wild collection radar had not triggered the discovery of any collectible items since leaving the remote forest.

Continuing forward, after walking across the hillside, Lyon saw traces of green plants again, and there was also a man-made path that went up the hillside. Lyon thought for a moment and chose to walk up the path.

The higher you go, the steeper the slope becomes. Finally, at the end of the trail, there is a small flat area. In this area, there is a yellow tent placed in the center, and there is a bonfire in front of the tent.

An old man with white hair and beard, wearing a slightly old and tattered yellow coat, was sitting by the campfire, hanging an iron pot over the campfire and cooking something.

"Stranger, there's nothing beautiful or useful here. There's only a homeless vagrant. If you don't want to faint from the smell of me, I advise you to leave."

Leon noticed the old man, and the old man naturally noticed Leon as well. Before Leon could speak, the old man warned Leon in a hoarse voice. "Hello, I mean no harm. I'm a farmer who just came to Stardew Valley a few days ago. My name is Leon."

Leon was not frightened by the old man's words. Instead, he looked at the old man with a smile: "If possible, can I sit down and taste your cooking? I have been walking on the mountain road for a long time and I happen to be a little hungry."

"Oh, that old farm finally has its successor." The old man's expression softened considerably after hearing this. He then looked at Leon suspiciously and asked, "Aren't you afraid of me?"

"Why should I be afraid of you?" Leon asked back.

"Because I am a homeless man," the old man replied.

"So what? As long as we're not some uncommunicative beast, why should I be afraid of you, a fellow human? And speaking of living habits, the biggest difference between you and me is that you live in a tent and I live in a cabin. The rest of our lifestyles are basically the same. I cook over a campfire, I go to the toilet in the wilderness, and I interact with plants in the soil every day."

Leon shrugged and replied, "Of course, I won't eat it for free. I can provide an ingredient. What do you think of leeks? Or wild wasabi?"

"Interesting boy, sit down. Old Linus is not so poor that he cannot provide enough food to entertain the guests." After listening to what Leon said, the old man looked at Leon seriously for a long time, and finally smiled. His expression and tone became much more relaxed, and he invited Leon to sit down and sit on the ground by the campfire like him.

Lyon didn't hesitate to sit down on the ground and looked into the iron pot. The boiling soup was green in color. Although the color was not very reliable, the smell was very tempting.

Seeing Leon sitting down so naturally, the smile on Linus' face became more obvious, but he didn't say anything. He just stared at the boiling iron pot seriously, stirring it from time to time with a wooden spoon.

When he felt it was almost done, he stood up and went into the tent, took out a small piece of log, and using some unknown method, he carved the log into a slightly heavy wooden bowl in an instant.

Then Leon saw Linus use the new wooden bowl to fill the hot soup scooped out from the iron pot and handed it to him.

Leon didn't show any disgust. He picked up the heavy wooden bowl, blew on the hot soup twice, and then drank a big gulp in front of Linus.

"Hmm, it's actually fresh fish soup. How did you do that? I can only taste the sweetness of the fish itself and a little bit of salt, but there's no fishy smell at all."

As soon as the soup entered his mouth, Leon tasted the base of the soup. It was precisely because of this taste that he realized how high the technical content of this soup was.

Linus did not explain, but instead poured himself a bowl of soup and drank it, squinting his eyes quietly to appreciate the deliciousness of the fish in the soup.

Seeing this, Leon did not ask any further questions. After finishing his bowl, he took the initiative to pick up the spoon and refilled himself with another bowl, drinking it happily. Linus just watched quietly, without saying anything to stop him, nor did he invite Leon to drink as much as he wanted.
