A farming master in Stardew Valley

Chapter 93 Those who wish take the bait

Chapter 93 Those who wish take the bait

When Leah also arrived at the dock, Leon was a little confused as to why this girl, who didn't have much interaction with him, would take the initiative to get anxious, so Leah spoke first.

"Are you here fishing?"

"Well, yes." Leon had no choice but to answer the question first. After all, it was a question of etiquette in interpersonal communication.

"Stardew Valley has beautiful natural scenery, the lake is very clean, and the fish should be plump and delicious." Leah said, then looked at the fishing rod in Leon's hand, and then looked at the empty space around Leon and asked in confusion: "But why didn't you bring a fishing box when you went fishing?"

"I just came to check out the situation. I didn't really plan to fish here."

Leon replied that he couldn't tell the other party that the fish he caught would be thrown directly into his backpack, and there was no need to prepare a fishing box or anything like that.

"Okay." Leah said a little awkwardly, then just stood there, not knowing what topic to talk about.

This weird atmosphere made Leon uncomfortable, so he could only take the initiative to break it: "Are you here to sketch by the lake?"

"Well, you may find it strange to say this, but I am actually an art lover." Leah breathed a sigh of relief when she heard Leon's question. She was still thinking about how to break the awkwardness, but when Leon spoke, they immediately had a topic to talk about.

"Artist? That's really cool." Leon sighed. After all, being an artist sounds very prestigious.

"I'm not really an artist. After all, I don't have any outstanding works, and I'm not famous. It's just a personal hobby." Leah explained, lowering her head in embarrassment.

"You are still young and have plenty of time in the future. One day you will shock the world with your excellent works." Leon comforted Leah. Of course, it was not just comfort. After all, Leah did achieve some success in the field of art in the future.

"Thank you for your encouragement. I will work hard towards this goal." Leah nodded seriously to thank Leon for his encouragement. After all, until now, no one, including her family and friends, supported her artistic pursuits. Leon was the first person who affirmed her efforts so much.

"I'm optimistic about you. By the way, when you become successful in the future, can I tell others about our humble beginnings? This might be something I can brag about to others in the future." Leon was stunned for a moment when he saw Leah's genuine smile, then he couldn't help but joked after coming to his senses.

"There's no need to brag. You are my friend and you can tell others this fact openly." Leah replied immediately.

"Are you friends already?" Leon was a little surprised. This was probably only the second time they met.

Leah nodded shyly when she heard this: "Of course, at least I consider you my friend, but if you don't want to, you can just say so."

"Who doesn't like to be friends with a beautiful woman, let alone a future great artist? I'm honored." Since the other party said so, Leon naturally couldn't help but give face, and immediately confirmed it with absolute certainty.

"Hahaha, you're so funny." Leah was amused by Leon's words, and her expression became much more relaxed: "Nice to meet you, Leon. In fact, when we first met, I felt that we could talk to each other."

"What do you mean?" Lyon asked curiously.

"Because you also moved here from a big city, although to inherit the farm, but life in Stardew Valley isn't as convenient as in the big city, so I think you must be longing for a free and peaceful lifestyle." Leah explained, then confirmed with some concern, "I think I'm right."

"You're right. I really do enjoy this kind of life, where I live for myself." Leon nodded. While the city is convenient, the pace of life is too fast and the work pressure is intense. Often, what I do isn't my own will, but rather a result of the whims of life and the economy. "Me too. Skyscrapers are like cages to me, constraining our thoughts and actions. Only in Stardew Valley did I find the long-lost peace that freed my constrained soul," Leah sighed.

Leon smiled when he heard that, then sat down on the edge of the dock, with most of his legs hanging in the air. He looked at the lake in front of him and said, "Have you decided to settle down in Pelican Town?"

"Well, the scenery here is beautiful, and there are many plants in the wild that can be picked to make salads. Living with nature is the lifestyle I've always dreamed of."

Leah put down her drawing board and sat on the edge of the dock with her feet dangling like Leon, but she was still about half a meter away from Leon.

"That's good." Leon agreed, and then felt that there was no more topic to talk about. However, it was also quite embarrassing to sit there like this, so he simply raised the rod and threw the hook without bait into the water, pretending to be fishing.

But Leah had already noticed that there was no bait on Leon's hook. Seeing that Leon was fishing with an empty hook, she couldn't help laughing.

"What's wrong?" Leon turned to look at Leah in confusion and asked.

"You didn't tie any bait." Leah reminded her, covering her mouth at the same time, not wanting Leon to see her uncontrollable smile.

"Ahem, I'm just here to test the waters." Lyon coughed awkwardly twice and made up an excuse to deal with this behavior that made him look stupid.

"I see. I don't like fish very much, so I don't know any fishing techniques. I'm sorry." Leah believed what Leon said and apologized to Leon for her ignorance.

"It's okay." Seeing that Leah really believed it, Leon breathed a sigh of relief and then began to reel in the rod. However, when turning the reel, Leon noticed that the hook seemed to be caught on something.

It wasn't a fish, because there was no feedback from the hook as if the fish was trying to escape or pulling. It felt like when I caught the treasure chest this morning, as if something dead was hung on it.

"Wow, you actually caught a fish with an empty hook?" Leah also noticed Leon's taut fishing line and the fishing rod that was bent due to being pulled, and she exclaimed in amazement.

"I didn't catch any fish, I just got hooked on something." Lyon explained, and then began to pull the line slowly, wanting to see what his hook had anchored to.

It shouldn't be a treasure chest. After all, a treasure chest isn't some weed on the roadside that's easy to come across. Moreover, when Lyon was reeling in the line this time, it felt quite heavy, much heavier than the treasure chest he had hung in the morning, making it very difficult for Lyon to pull it.

It was not until Lyon slowly reeled in the fishing line that he saw what he had hooked. It was a round black log that was nearly the height of an adult.

"It's actually sunken wood! This is a good material for sculptures." Leah exclaimed with wide eyes when she saw the log that Leon took out of the water. Her eyes were full of desire. After all, this kind of wood is very rare even in the market, and the price of each piece is very high.

Lyon stood up and dragged the log out of the water, then picked it up. It was quite heavy when he picked it up, which made Lyon a little struggling. Fortunately, Leah lent a hand and he finally managed to fish out the sunken wood and placed it on the dock.

I'm going to eat now. I'll write the other two chapters in the afternoon.
