A farming master in Stardew Valley

Chapter 958 Dwarves and Elves

Chapter 958 Dwarves and Elves

After complaining, Leon didn't dwell on this issue any more. He immediately repeated to the two girls what he had just learned from Yuzu. After making sure that he had no good intentions but had done something bad, Abigail visibly relaxed a lot.

"So what should we do now? Should we go directly to Yuzu's village? Do we need to prepare gifts?" Sophia couldn't wait to see what Junimo's village looked like. Although they couldn't speak the language, it was still novel and interesting.

It’s just like when you travel abroad, even if you don’t speak the language, it’s still good to see something new.

"We can go, but the host who invited us ran away, and I don't know the way. How do you think we can get there?" Leon asked Sophia with his hands spread out.

"Ah?" Sophia was stunned. She thought Leon knew the way.

"I know the general direction, but I'm not sure where it is exactly." Abigail raised her hand and said.

"Oh, it seems that Yuzu has considered this issue, but before going, I have to confirm one thing." Leon suddenly realized what he said, and then signaled Sophia, who was excited again, to be quiet for a while, while he began to browse in this old farmhouse.

Soon, he found what he was looking for.

A golden scroll that looked out of place among the shabby furniture in the room.

After unfolding it, Leon began to read its contents, but after just a moment, he closed the scroll.

It wasn't that I finished reading it, but I felt dizzy because the Junimo characters on it were too distorted and abstract.

It was very different from the Junimo script that Leon had seen before. It was like Chinese and Japanese put together. He could barely recognize a few characters, but most of the text was unrecognizable.

This made Leon wonder whether his forest magic's understanding of Junimos writing remained at a relatively superficial level, or whether the writing style of adult Junimos was just so wild.

Anyway, Lyon couldn't understand what was said above.

"Let's go and check out Junimo's village. Abi, you lead the way. I'll use my perception to locate the exact location of Yuzu Village later."

Not understanding what kind of sacrificial request the apple that had merged into the house had made, Leon was not prepared to force it. He immediately asked Abigail and Sophia to leave the old house and head towards the forest.

When the three of them returned to the forest, led by Abigail, Lyon and his group quickly returned to the clearing in the forest where they first saw Yuzu. Then they continued to walk south for a while, and Abigail stopped.

"I can only lead the way here, I don't know how to go from here."

Abigail pointed to the fork in the road and explained, "That's where I met Yuzu. The forest inside is a little strange. It seems like a naturally formed maze. I've entered it several times to try to find another exit, but I always end up back here."

"Leave it to me, just follow me." Lyon immediately became interested after hearing this. He was familiar with mazes and had played many mazes of all sizes before, but he had never experienced such a purely natural one.

And with the map still in his mind as a guide, Leon believed that he should be able to find the right path to the Junimo village.

Under Leon's leadership, the three of them walked hand in hand into the forest maze. Leon took the lead and kept moving forward in the right direction. When he encountered a fork in the road, he chose the direction with the most concentrated light marks representing Junimos on the map.

Then, the three of them crossed a small path and found that they seemed to have returned to the direction where Abigail had stopped at the beginning.

"Is this what you said I would give it to you?" Looking at the familiar scenery around her, Abigail asked Leon with a strange expression.

"Ahem, it was just an accident. Let's try again." Leon coughed twice to ease his embarrassment, then re-entered the forest maze. This time, he didn't blindly follow the direction of the light points on the map. Instead, he observed the surroundings as he walked, and specifically observed the ground before reaching a fork in the road.

Unfortunately, the ground under the fork in the road was covered with green grass, without any traces of being stepped on. The hope of finding clues based on the clues left unintentionally by the indigenous people who frequently entered and exited this maze during their daily activities was dashed.

"How about we call Yuzu here, maybe it can hear us and come to lead us to the right path?" Sophia suggested to Leon, who was squatting on the ground, staring at the fork in the road, looking conflicted, not knowing how to make a decision.

"Not for now, I think I can still try harder," Lyon shook his head, then directly chose the left fork to enter.

Abigail and Sophia looked at each other and noticed the helplessness in each other's eyes, but finally followed Leon's footsteps. There was no other way, because Leon was the pillar of the family.

When they reached the end of this fork in the road, another open space appeared in front of the three of them. This time, Abigail did not find the surroundings familiar, and immediately encouraged Leon: "You seem to have found the right direction."

"Well, but this is just the beginning." Lyon did not open the champagne in advance. According to the map, they are still some distance away from the gathering place of the light spots, and there are more than two forks in the road in front of them.

"Ok?"

Just as Lyon was observing the three forks in the road, he accidentally caught a glimpse of something that was out of place in the forest. Then he looked closely and found that it was a fallen stone tablet that was mostly covered by grass, with only a small corner exposed.

Lyon hurried over, cleared the grass and leaves wrapped around the stone tablet, and saw the words carved on it clearly.

It was completely different from the way the language of this world was written, but Leon recognized it; it was Dwarven!
"The tomb of Baltimar, a fearless warrior who died in the war of the elements."

"It's actually a tombstone?"

Leon sighed after reading what he saw on the stone tablet.

"There's one here too!" Sophia also found the same stone tablet in another place at this moment, but compared to the dwarf's tombstone, this one was narrower and twice as long as the dwarf's tombstone.

However, Lyon couldn't make out what the characters on it were, as if they were floral patterns.

But Abigail recognized the origin of the font and read it out.
"It's in Elvish. The inscription reads: Tomb of the Thornflower Guard, a hunting squad that died in the Elemental War."

"Was this place once a public cemetery?" Leon asked.

"No, it's a battlefield." Abigail shook her head, then pointed to an area not far from the tombstone of the elf team. There, in the land covered with weeds, there were some relics that had been corroded and the material could not be seen clearly. It could only be roughly inferred that they were relics in the shape of some cold weapons.

"I once read in my teacher's collection that Stardew Valley was once one of the battlefields of the Elemental War. Now it seems that this forest is the core of the battlefield."

"Why is it the core area? There are tombstones here. Shouldn't it be the edge of the battlefield?" Lyon asked back.

"Because the battlefield was so brutal, both sides didn't even consider taking away the bodies of their fallen tribesmen during the battle. These tombstones were actually erected after the end of the Elemental War and the signing of the Treaty of Peaceful Coexistence. As the warring parties in this war, the only reason why the dwarves and elves could erect tombstones in the same area was because they could no longer bury the complete remains, and could only leave such a tombstone at the place where they died as a comfort." Abigail explained.

"I'm afraid it's not that we can't bury the whole body, but rather that the flesh and blood of both sides have merged into one on the battlefield, making it impossible to tell which belongs to which."

Lyon said this, looking around at the lush green grass and the densely packed towering trees, and felt a little sad for a moment.
