Infinite Terror: Infinite Reversal

Chapter 206 Offline and Online

Chapter 206 Offline and Online

After dealing with the situation around him, Mu Xiang immediately followed the guidance of his mental scan and headed towards Zheng Zha and Jill. By deliberately slowing his speed, he quickly caught up with the two and they headed to the substation together.

"Such a grand display?" Jill smiled slightly. "With you all here, even a few tyrants would be crushed."

Mu Xiang shrugged: "Let's get this over with quickly. Who knows what might be going on in the substation? If you get bogged down, not only will you be affected, but the subway will also be delayed. Two trackers have already found the subway entrance. If we don't hurry, the people in the shelter will just be waiting to die."

At this point, he added, "They're guarding the subway; let's hurry."

The reason for making such a big show of it is that the substation is actually quite dangerous... for Jill.

In the game's storyline, there's a plot-driven death in the substation... Bloodthirsty insects infected with the T-virus transform into large monsters, lurking within the substation. These creatures are called Marrow Eaters, and in the game, one forcibly shoves its mandibles into Jill's mouth, leaving her with a parasitic state that causes slow health loss.

When Mu Xiang reached this point, he was greatly impressed and could only marvel at the unique characteristics of the island nation.

On the other hand, who knows what will happen to Jill once she's inside the substation? What if she gets her cerebrospinal fluid drained? That's what the marrow eaters consume.

If something really goes wrong, who will bear the cost of the deducted reward?

Mu Xiang thought of the various shameless and outrageous plot changes made by the main god in the original work, such as Ripley being slapped to death by a rampaging alien evolution... So it was obvious that the main god must have left a surprise at the substation! Although Mu Xiang and Zheng Zha were acting with Jill, they were both on high alert.

"Have you cleared the roadblocks? Return to the shelter as soon as possible. Zhan Lan, keep a close eye on the surroundings... Besides the trackers and tyrants that can be scanned, there are two other threats to watch out for: one is whether the survivors in the shelter might suddenly mutate, and the other is G William, which cannot be scanned." Mu Xiang contacted Zhan Lan in his mind, "These are places where the main god might cause trouble... If there is any situation that you cannot handle, call me immediately, and I will come back right away."

Under the double vigilance of Mu Xiang and Zheng Zha, although they encountered attacks from marrow eaters, they easily killed them all... Not to mention parasitizing them, even the splatter from their explosions didn't splash onto Jill.

Jill frowned as she looked at the giant insect corpses on the ground that had been cleaved in two by a single palm strike. "What are these things? They look like giant spiders, but upon closer inspection, they aren't."

Mu Xiang spread his hands and said, "They've all mutated beyond recognition, you definitely can't tell just by looking... But I've seen some unexpected cases in the company. Blood-sucking insects can also mutate after absorbing blood infected with the T virus, just like this one."

“Getting smeared on you is never a good thing.” Jill stepped over the sticky secretions on the ground. “There are some human corpses in here… that should tell us something.”

As they spoke, the three of them had already fought their way through the power tower, resetting all the circuit breakers. Jill focused more on the investigation, reading through the notes left behind by the employees. This was probably a traditional skill of the protagonists in Resident Evil, and Mu Xiang and Zheng Zha didn't urge her... anyway, they were the ones doing the work.

After leaving the power tower, they went straight to the control room and, after some operations, finally got the substation back up and running. The whole trip only took about ten minutes, which was quite fast.

Mu Xiang glanced at a box in the corner of the control room and, as if possessed, opened it to take a look... As everyone knows, these boxes are interconnected in the game.

It was completely empty inside, there was nothing there... of course, it wasn't some kind of dimensional box.

When Zheng Zha saw Mu Xiang casually open the box, he was first taken aback, then laughed, not expecting Mu Xiang to be so eager to try it out.

After informing Carlos via walkie-talkie, Carlos said there was another task to be done... that is, to go to the subway company's office and fix the traffic control system.

These are no problem for Mu Xiang, since he doesn't have to follow the rules in the game... He can just push through any obstacles.

The three walked through a neighborhood that had already fallen. With Mu Xiang and Zheng Zha present, Jill's composure was enough to prevent her from firing her gun... Jill, of course, knew the location of the office; while Mu Xiang and Zheng Zha were using Zhan Lan's mental scanning to disguise themselves as locals. Just one more block away from the office, the three, who emerged from an alley, suddenly stopped.

The zombies wandering not far away were different from before. Instead of the pale, rotting faces they had before, they had some kind of fleshy helmet-like thing around their necks.

“These are zombies that have been re-infected by the tentacles of the trackers… Apart from the ones we killed before, there shouldn’t be any trackers whose defenses have been breached yet.” Mu Xiang said to Zheng Zha in his mind. “Two possibilities: either the main god has increased the difficulty, or the company has given them instructions to actively enter a mutated state.”

Just as Zheng Zha was about to reply to Mu Xiang in his mind, he suddenly shoved Jill away with his shoulder and fell in the same direction himself.

A whooshing sound came from the air, and Mu Xiang suddenly had a rocket in his hand, which was still spinning in his palm upon closer inspection.

"Zheng Zha, you and Jill go over there first... I'll hold them off here." Mu Xiang flicked his wrist, sending the rocket back the way it came. After a loud bang, the rocket launcher in the hands of the pursuer in the distance was engulfed in the flames of the explosion.

Mu Xiang connected the walkie-talkie: "Hurry up with the repairs, these things are coming to attack!" With that, he tossed the walkie-talkie into Jill's arms.

Jill braced herself, remaining alert, and looked in the direction Mu Xiang was pointing... A Tracker stood on the sidewalk. In another direction, three Tyrants walked towards them in unison.

"Can you handle it?"

Mu Xiang didn't even turn his head, and said impatiently, "You two hurry up! These aren't enough for me to kill, but if we don't set off soon, the shelter won't be able to cope!"

Zheng Zha nodded to Jill, and the two rushed towards the subway company at the same time, while Mu Xiang pushed off the ground and flew towards the four bio-weapons.

In a European laboratory, a group of researchers stared intently at a monitor screen… They were responsible for the project of combining the T-virus with a parasite. Whether for their future prospects or to prove they were no less capable than William, they had to continuously improve the tracker!
Secondary inoculation with parasites from T-virus infected organisms is the only stable manufacturing method suitable for powerful biological weapons! William Birkin's so-called binding virus approach, which started from scratch, is simply not feasible in the context of biological weapons! The same experimental materials, different binding points, lead to completely different paths... They won't admit defeat!

“Dr. Isaac, this is the only tracker closest to the target location… Please take a look.” A researcher said cautiously to a man behind him who was clearly of high status.

Currently, the company has only embedded an integrated monitoring system inside the trackers' skulls, while Tyrant does not yet have this capability. The trackers' stable nature allows for the implantation of an internal monitoring system, and adding a system for transmitting images would be a natural fit. This would improve the trackers' tracking efficiency, and they would also be able to view some data.

Dr. Isaac appeared mild-mannered, though a cold glint flashed in his eyes. He nodded slightly, gazing at the proud figure standing on the monitor screen.

He certainly recognized this man. After the Hive incident, the missing security guards were documented and reported to higher-ups… What interested him most was the boy's immeasurable fighting prowess. Could it really be William's G-virus?

The next moment, the monitor screen went completely black.

"Offline...offline?!" the researchers exclaimed in surprise. The tracker hadn't even transmitted any information about the person's actions!

Dr. Isaac silently activated his communicator: "I suggest continuing to deploy bioweapons... Also, the subjects for Project Alice can be brought online."

"We need more data."
