Chapter 64 The Safavid Family

Chapter 64 The Safavid Family

Drake picked up Julia's backpack, tossed it aside beside Roland, then leaned against the giant tree and wiped the bloodstains off his face with snow.

"How are you feeling? Do you want to go back and rest?" Roland was referring, of course, to the spirit world.

“No problem.” Drake grabbed a handful of snow and rubbed it on his face, not afraid of the cold at all. “Today was really fun. That old man in the white robe was quite formidable. If it weren’t for your move, I probably wouldn’t have been able to outlast him.”

"You currently have a maximum of four spinning axes?"

"Yes, I like to go all out; hiding my abilities is not my style."

"You looked like a god of war today," Roland praised sincerely.

The two wolves excel at hit-and-run tactics, while he can only resort to sniping; in close combat, he's just hacking and slashing aimlessly. His prized physique is utterly useless against the Titans. Without Drake, he would choose to run away with Yulia, and the silver-robed man's invisible attacks would only be effective against his mental barriers.

“Hahaha…” Drake laughed heartily, “I think so too.”

The silver-robed man's extraordinary abilities were bizarre; even the giant snake was not immune to them. Drake, without any protection, was completely unharmed and was not seriously injured, which was simply outrageous.

It seems that life attributes are indeed very useful. Roland believes that soul and spirituality cannot be equated; it is more closely related to life. A strong life leads to a strong soul and stronger related resistances. Spirituality is generated by the combination of soul-derived power and extraordinary qualities, and its total amount is less than that of the soul, otherwise it would be difficult to control. The ratio between the two varies from person to person.

Of course, these are all just his guesses at the moment.

A long line of lights approached from afar, indicating that the camp's support had finally arrived. Judging from their uniforms, there were a dozen guards and some management personnel, while the rest were likely laborers, carrying warm clothes, first-aid supplies, sleds, and the like.

"I'll go find our sleds and backpacks." Drake shivered; he was dressed too lightly, and the heat from the battle was making him feel unwell.

"Be careful." Roland was worried that there might be other accomplices of the man in white nearby.

"rest assured."

After Drake left, two guards not far away exchanged a glance, and one of them hurriedly ran away.

Roland didn't care. There were several groups of guards around them, watching him openly and secretly, as if they were afraid that he would run away with Julia.

A few minutes later, the vice-captain named Matthias arrived with one woman and two men. The middle-aged woman was carrying a large leather suitcase, the other man was leading a reindeer, and a large sled was pulling behind them.

“Mr. Otto, this is Dr. Lena. May she examine Ms. Katu?” Matthias looked at Roland with a hint of awe.

Roland was stunned for a moment, then realized that Katu must be Julia's surname, which was the first time he had ever heard of it.

Strictly speaking, surnames should be added before "Mr" and "Ms." However, in recent years, aristocratic etiquette has become more common, and most commoners do not have surnames. Therefore, adding "Mr" or "Ms" after a name is not considered impolite, but it would never be done in formal occasions.

“Okay.” Roland put Julia on the sled, which was covered with thick fur and snowboards, and was definitely more comfortable than in his arms.

The four people, including Matthias, are ordinary people, and even if there is a problem, he has the ability to stop it in time.

Dr. Lena's diagnostic method seemed very professional, probably from an academic background. She mainly relied on visual inspection, palpation, percussion, and auscultation, spending more than ten minutes on the procedure before concluding that everything was normal and she was just overworked.

Roland sighed inwardly. Julia's injuries must be at the spiritual or soul level; an ordinary doctor probably wouldn't be able to see anything. Julia was a pharmacist, skilled in medicine; once she woke up, she should be able to treat her injuries.

“Mr. Otto, this is Moreno, the vice president of the Glacier Town branch of the Northern Merchant Guild. Why don’t you let him take you back to the camp to rest?” Matthias said, pointing to the short-bearded middle-aged man beside him.

“Alright.” Roland and Moreno nodded to each other.

Drake had returned and had been waiting nearby for a while. Roland put away the two wolves, and the two of them, along with Moreno, boarded the sled and headed towards the winter hunting camp.

Moreno drove the whole way, very smoothly, his brow furrowed with worry, and he spoke very little.

The camp was brightly lit, and the gates were heavily guarded; even Moreno had to stop and report before entering. The sled continued its journey, eventually stopping in front of a wooden building near the center, with a pair of merchant guild flags flying diagonally on either side of the door. "Mr. Otto, this is the president's temporary residence; no outsiders will disturb us," he said, getting out of the sled and knocking on the door, his movements somewhat hurried.

Roland was taken aback, not quite understanding who the president was, but he still bent down and picked up Julia, with Drake standing behind him carrying two backpacks.

As soon as there was a knock on the door, there were loud footsteps coming from inside. The door was pulled open, revealing a boy with a youthful face.

"Uncle Moreno, my cousin is back?" The boy was tall and thin, dressed neatly, and spoke urgently, clearly having been waiting.

Moreno stepped aside, revealing Roland's figure: "You're back. This is Mr. Otto; he's the one who saved the Chairman. The Chairman... should be alright. You should take them inside to rest."

The boy looked anxious when he saw the unconscious Julia. He rushed to Roland's side, but then stopped abruptly, reaching out his hands as if to touch her but not daring to.

"Take her back to her room first; she needs to rest," Roland said softly.

"Oh, okay, come with me." The boy seemed to wake from a dream, and led the group into the house, climbing the stairs to the second floor.

After settling Julia into the innermost room, the group returned to the first floor. Moreno gave the boy a few words of advice before hurriedly driving away, presumably because he would be very busy tonight.

After he left, the boy closed the doors and windows and made two cups of tea for Roland and Drake. Roland could see his worry, but the boy remained composed, demonstrating excellent emotional control and manners.

"Mr. Otto, my name is Alex, and my cousin is..." The boy wanted to know more, but didn't know where to begin.

“Her physical injuries have healed. I don’t know if there are any other problems, but she was conscious before, so she should be fine,” Roland reassured her.

"What happened? Weren't they supposed to be exploring the cave ruins?" Alex frowned, grabbing his hair haphazardly with his left hand, making a mess of his half-long purple hair.

“I don’t know,” Roland shook his head slightly. “When I found them, they were being chased by several white snakes. After the white snakes retreated…”

He could only give a brief description of the process because he didn't even know who the other two parties were.

“Thank you, Mr. Otto. The Safavid and Katu families will forever remember this kindness.” Alex stood up and bowed very solemnly.

Roland was startled. He was very familiar with the Safavid family; they frequently appeared in the epic legends of the North. In classical Solon, Safavid meant "prince, leader."

"We just happened to run into you. Please give us a room. We're too tired today and need to rest." He was genuinely exhausted. Once Yulia woke up, all the questions that had been swirling in his mind would be answered.

"plz follow me."

The building occupied a considerable area, with four rooms on the second floor. Alex led Roland and Drake to a room on the far side of the second floor, the one furthest from Julia, clearly indicating that he was still on guard.

Drake put his two backpacks in the corner and lay sprawled on the floor, looking a little tired.

"You've had a long journey. Let me take you home."

Roland bent down and reached out his hand, but Drake grabbed it. Then his figure faded and disappeared, having returned to the Spirit Realm chessboard.

Two plumes of black smoke landed and transformed into two giant wolves. Without anyone to protect him, he couldn't sleep peacefully in this unfamiliar environment.

Lying in bed, Roland turned his head to look at the backpack in the corner, feeling very curious. There were several strange spiritual auras inside, intertwined, giving people a feeling of danger yet intimacy.

Don't move around.

He forced himself not to pay attention to that abnormality. He felt empty and insecure, and he needed to recover as soon as possible.
