Hogwarts: Becoming the White Lord from Breathing
Chapter 24 Potions Class
Chapter 24 Potions Class (Part )
Potions class continued, and Snape divided the students into groups of two and instructed them to mix a simple potion to treat scabies.
Snape walked around the classroom dragging his long black cloak, watching them weigh dry nettles and crush snake fangs. Almost all the students were criticized, only Malfoy and Damon were spared. Despite this, Snape still looked at Damon with a venomous look, as if he was ready to make sarcastic remarks at any time.
Just as he was showing everyone how perfectly Malfoy had steamed the slugs with tentacles, Damon suddenly reached out and firmly locked Neville's fat hand - which was holding a porcupine quill.
"Wait a minute, Neville." Damon's voice was calm and steady. "You need to take the pot off the heat before adding the porcupine quills."
Neville was startled and quickly let go of his hand, his face full of panic and gratitude: "Oh, God, thank you, Damon! I almost messed up."
Isn't it?
If Damon hadn't kept Neville in his care, this unique boy-who-lived would have spilled the potion, causing his entire body to be covered in red and swollen scabies, and he would have screamed in pain.
"Oh, Mr. White, it seems you are very enthusiastic about 'helping' your classmates."
Snape's tone was devoid of warmth and full of sarcasm.
"But have you forgotten that you are not the teacher of this course? How dare you interrupt my teaching?" He paused for a moment, as if enjoying this moment of sarcasm. "If you are so proficient in Potions, perhaps I should consider letting you substitute and see what you can do for us."
The atmosphere in the classroom suddenly froze, and the students didn't dare to speak. Only Malfoy sneered.
Harry frowned and was about to speak in Damon's defense when Ron kicked him behind the pot.
"Don't be ridiculous," he whispered, "I heard Snape is very unreasonable."
Damon did not respond immediately, but silently looked at the pot of steaming medicine.
Then he whispered:
"Professor, since you are so strict, I will certainly not let you down."
He walked to the medicine table, picked up the medicine spoon gracefully and started from the beginning. His movements were smooth and seamless without any pause.
Snape stood aside, staring at Damon's every move with eyes as sharp as a knife, as if waiting for him to make a mistake.
However, all of Damon's actions were impeccable.
A few minutes later, with the final step of adding the porcupine quills to the crucible and quickly stirring three times, the color of the solution gradually turned into a medium green and exuded a faint herbal aroma.
Damon poured the potion into two test tubes, kept one and handed the other to Snape.
"Professor, please give me some advice."
Snape stared closely at the test tube handed to him by Damon. Looking at the almost perfect potion with no flaws, his brows furrowed slightly, and his voice was low and a little unhappy:
"I don't think I ever said that the potions here can be taken away."
Damon smiled lightly, as if he was not affected by Snape's words at all:
"This is the first potion I have ever brewed, and it is a milestone on my journey to becoming a Potions Master. Please grant me your permission, sir."
Mr. Potions Master
The corner of Snape's mouth twitched, and he silently picked up the potion and shook it, carefully observing the texture and color of the potion.
A minute later, he finally put the test tube down. There was still no expression on his face, but a hint of imperceptible recognition flashed across his cold eyes.
After a moment's silence, he finally spoke, his tone still cold, as if he was unwilling to appear too generous:
"Remember, next time don't just take your potion away from me unless you can make it perfect."
".Also, one point to Gryffindor for your mediocre scabies potion." "Now, your Potions class is over for the day. Get out of my classroom!"
"As you wish, sir."
Damon packed up and left quickly, leaving behind a group of shocked young wizards.
"What are you all standing there for?! Have you finished your potions? Neville Longbottom, join Mr. Potter's team and learn from them. If I see you make a small mistake like that again, I will deduct ten points from Gryffindor!"
"Yes! Professor!"
Neville shrank his neck and flew to Harry's side, but he couldn't help but look at the classroom door, where Damon had just left.
By the time the get out of class was over, Gryffindor, which had originally had a slight lead in the House Cup, had already had twelve points deducted from them by Snape for various reasons.
The Slytherin students were also given an extra ten points for various reasons.
The Gryffindor students were very dissatisfied with this, but the response they got was just "two points deducted for talking back to the professor."
After walking out of the classroom, the young wizards who had been holding back their thoughts suddenly burst into a loud noise. In addition to the noise about Professor Snape's unfair rating, they also made a lot of noise about Damon's performance.
"I heard that Professor Snape rarely gives extra points to students outside of Slytherin, but Damon was able to add points back after being deducted by him!"
"He even took away the potion he made, man! Didn't you see how scary Professor Snape's expression was when I tried to take my potion away? I bet if he looked at me for two more seconds, I would have wet my pants!"
"I'm afraid Damon is the only one who can prevent this unfair professor from finding fault! I bet Gryffindor will have a hard time from now on!"
Hermione walked among the talking students, looking downcast.
Lost! Lost completely!
Snape did not praise her potion, nor did he allow her to take it away. He even ridiculed her harshly with Damon!
She tried her best to hide her emotions, but Harry and Ron soon noticed something was wrong with her, especially the way she unconsciously lowered her head and slightly slumped shoulders.
The two exchanged glances, obviously sensing her emotions.
"Hey, Hermione, what's wrong? You don't look quite right."
Harry walked over to Hermione and tried to break her silence with a lighthearted tone.
Hermione glanced at Harry, pursed her lips, said nothing, and left.
"Dude, why are you asking for trouble? Look at her expression. It's obvious that she feels inferior to Damon and is frustrated."
Watching Hermione leave, Ron felt that this girl was really twisted, secretly complaining that she should be in Ravenclaw instead of Gryffindor. Despite this, he still changed the subject:
"But I'm still more curious, why does Damon not care about Snape's sarcasm at all?"
"Did you see that? Snape's tone was almost hostile at that time, but Damon was completely unaffected. Instead, he said, 'As you wish, sir'. Could it be that he and Snape are related?"
"No, Damon said he was a Muggle-born and couldn't be related to Snape."
"That's strange." Ron thought about it, but couldn't figure it out, so he gave up immediately. "Okay, the next two and a half days are fine, we should enjoy our vacation!"
