Chapter 20 Mahayana and Lesser Completion, Group Owner Klein Asks for Help!
What is Mahayana Buddhism?
Mahayana Buddhism not only pursues personal liberation, but also strives to liberate all sentient beings.
Its philosophy of practice is that the reason why people need liberation is because life is empty. It emphasizes facing the real world, understanding the real world, and seeking liberation in reality.
Mahayana Buddhist scriptures include the Prajnaparamita Sutra, the Lotus Sutra, and the Avatamsaka Sutra.
These classic texts emphasize emptiness, non-self, and the Bodhisattva path, advocating the attainment of Buddhahood and the salvation of all sentient beings through wisdom and compassion.
Theravada Buddhism, on the other hand, focuses on personal practice and liberation, aiming to attain the state of Arhatship by eliminating afflictions and extinguishing the cycle of birth and death.
Their methods of spiritual practice tend to involve distancing themselves from society and practicing asceticism.
The main scriptures of Theravada Buddhism include the Agamas and the Vinaya Pitaka. These scriptures emphasize the Buddha's original teachings and the methods of actual practice, believing that attaining Buddhahood is an extremely difficult path that only a very few people can achieve.
After Niu Jun traveled to the world of Journey to the West, he also read some Buddhist scriptures, especially the Mahayana Buddhist classics that were widely circulated in Xiniu Hezhou.
However, he prefers Theravada Buddhism to Mahayana Buddhism.
After all, spiritual practice ultimately depends on oneself.
If someone is truly converted into a Buddha by another, will the person who becomes a Buddha still be the same person?
That's not spiritual practice; it's being a puppet of the Buddha.
In Niu Jun's view, the practice of Mahayana Buddhism is more like a method of becoming a god through faith than a method of Buddhist practice.
On the contrary, the Theravada Buddhist practice philosophy is more in line with my own, emphasizing personal practice and transcendence.
Of course, even if Niu Jun agrees with the Theravada Buddhist practice philosophy, he will not practice Buddhist techniques and supernatural powers, much less follow the Buddhist path of cultivation.
Because the Buddhist practice emphasizes cause and effect above all else.
Once one engages in spiritual practice, one will establish a profound karmic connection with highly accomplished Buddhist practitioners, making the consequences of misfortune and fortune unpredictable.
In the early stages of practicing Buddhist methods, one might be able to quickly cultivate by relying on the karma of highly accomplished Buddhist practitioners. However, once one reaches the later stages, attaining enlightenment and transcendence becomes extremely difficult.
The prerequisite for attaining enlightenment and transcendence is to transcend the universe, which requires severing one's karmic ties with the universe. The deeper the karmic ties, the harder it is to transcend.
This is like taking out a loan for spiritual practice; progress may not be rapid in the early stages, but you will have to repay the karmic debts later.
Even more so, looking beyond the surface to the essence.
Whether it is Mahayana Buddhism or Theravada Buddhism, both cultivate the path of the mind, taking the great path of the mind as the foundation, supplemented by the great paths of cause and effect, emptiness, and reincarnation, to govern all dharmas and paths.
Just as Niu Jun took the Great Dao of Power as his foundation, supplemented by the Great Dao of Yin and Yang and the Five Elements, he governed all laws and paths, and used this to condense the Taiyi Dao Fruit and attain enlightenment and transcendence.
Therefore, whether it is the cultivation method of immortals or the cultivation method of Buddhism.
Ultimately, they all lead to the same destination, with no real difference.
I understand that.
Let's look back at the Buddhist scriptures and methods of practice.
That would make it much easier to understand.
Therefore, although Niu Jun did not practice Buddhist methods, his understanding of Buddhist scriptures and practices was unmatched by that of ordinary monks.
During his debates with the monks of Jinhai Temple, whenever he uttered a verse or two, it would enlighten them as if they had been struck by lightning. They would take it as their guide and praise him as a great and virtuous Zen master.
Meanwhile, Niu Jun continuously comprehended the Buddha's light and Buddha-nature within the Five Elements Mountain, and used the art of spiritual infiltration to subtly influence and control the monks of Jinhai Temple, as well as Venerable Jinhai, who was cultivating on the back mountain of Jinhai Temple.
Of course, Venerable Jin Hai is, after all, a Buddhist monk at the Xuanxian realm, and it is not something that can be accomplished overnight to subtly control him without him noticing.
According to Niu Jun's estimate, it would take at least three to five years to control Venerable Jin Hai silently through the art of mind infiltration.
Fortunately, Niu Jun did not need to completely control Venerable Jin Hai. He only needed to use the technique of mental infiltration to slightly affect Venerable Jin Hai's mental perception and extract information about the Five Elements Mountain from him.
In this way, one or two months will be enough.
As for the monks in Jinhai Temple?
If it weren't for the fact that he didn't want Venerable Jin Hai to notice something amiss, Niu Jun could have turned everyone into mind puppets in the blink of an eye.
……
Time passes day by day.
Soon, a month had passed in the blink of an eye.
Just as Niu Jun was about to use his mental techniques to corrupt Venerable Jin Hai's mind and extract information about the Five Elements Mountain,
The chat group of all beings, which had been silent for more than a month, suddenly became active.
[The Mysterious Zhou Mingrui: Is the Boss Here?]
Niu Jun was a little curious when he saw the private message sent by the group owner, Zhou Mingrui.
to be frank.
If he hadn't been able to truly and unmistakably perceive the existence of this multiverse chat group, he would have even thought he had joined a dead group.
Except for the first two days after he joined, the entire chat group was like it was dead; no one spoke at all on ordinary days.
The reason.
Another issue is that there are too few members in the chat group, and these members, including Niu Jun, are not very talkative.
Everyone is usually busy with their own things.
There's basically no casual chatting, making the chat group feel like a dead group.
But this is understandable.
Everyone is busy; there's not much time for idle chatter.
In addition, the worlds they all live in are quite special, so they can't even help each other in normal times, so what is there to talk about?
Even though Niu Jun, Lu Sheng, and Zhou Mingrui were all fellow transmigrators from the same hometown, they didn't have many topics to talk about.
So normally, the chat group is hardly active.
Such a situation, as seen in the private message from group admin Zhou Mingrui, is extremely rare.
[Niu Jun from Journey to the West: Yes, what's up?]
[Mysterious Zhou Mingrui: Boss, I've run into some trouble and would like to ask for your guidance. (Help.jpg)]
[Niu Jun from Journey to the West: What trouble is it? Tell me.]
[Niu Jun from Journey to the West: But let me make this clear beforehand, I can only offer some advice at most, I might not be able to help much, after all, you know the situation in your world.]
Upon hearing the group leader Zhou Mingrui's plea for help.
Although Niu Jun did not refuse, he also did not make any promises.
Because the world Zhou Mingrui lives in is completely different from the world of Journey to the West in terms of its laws and cultivation system, cultivation experience from Journey to the West may not be useful.
Therefore, he dared not make any definitive statements, and could only offer some advice at most.
As for whether this suggestion will work?
He couldn't guarantee it either.
[Mysterious Zhou Mingrui: Don't worry, boss, I understand!]
[Mysterious Zhou Mingrui: It's like this, boss, I've been targeted and focused on again by the 0-08 sealed artifact, the Pen of Alshogod. I wonder if you have any way to get rid of it?]
