Kobold Wizard's Journal

Chapter 15 Malice and Light

Chapter 15 Malice and Light

Coming out of his meditative state, Ruger couldn't help but fall into deep thought.

After investigation, it was discovered that the spell model had undergone a slight change. No, it should be said that it had undergone a huge change. The spell model that was solidified in the spell position and had become one with it actually had an extra node.

The nineteen spell model nodes of Stinking Skin unexpectedly became twenty.

The number of nodes does not represent the strength of the spell, but will cause changes in direction and functional effects.

Is this a change that can occur on its own if the wizard apprentice does not take the initiative and transform it personally?
Was it because the spell solidified in the spell slot had become fused with the body, becoming almost instinctive? He speculated wildly, wanting to ask other wizards who had solidified their spells if they had encountered the same situation.

If it was unusual, it would pique the interest of wizards even more, and someone would inevitably record and compile statistics, and study it. For example, the wizard academy mentioned in Kaliu's diary might contain some information that could answer his questions. Perhaps in such a place, this question would not be a difficult one at all.

Even a half-human would understand, right? he thought.

Maybe we'll even find out what that sacred bone-hand tree is.

The other party's strangeness and mystery invisibly elevated his image in his mind. At least he roughly believed that the half-human should be stronger than the mentors written in Kaliu's diary.

As for the effect after the spell is changed.

He already had a rough idea in his mind.

He raised his arms and stretched vigorously.

I just had a good sleep and did some meditation. I feel refreshed and my arms are no longer sore.

I had originally planned to use up the remaining two scrolls of inheritance, and then choose a spell from those books to start studying, but now everything has been disrupted by a dream.

He got up and went straight to the gathering place of the dog-headed people in Old Gold Tooth's tribe. He happened to have something to talk to the old dog-headed man about.

The appearance of the lizardmen, the inexplicable replacement of the Holy Lord, and the distant relatives with iron tools in their hands who came from somewhere far away seemed to have no effect on the dog-headed people in the tribe. After the initial panic, they remained the same.

He saw two dog-headed men coming towards him, and he activated the foul-smelling skin spell.

Adding one more node will affect the rest of the nodes on the spell model.

In his perception, the spell was not a complete change, but an additional function, or a new way of using it.

He passed by very quietly at first, and as he drew closer, the two kobolds were definitely within the spell's range. But they acted as if nothing had happened, strolling leisurely, carrying two broken sticks that they hadn't even bothered to tie together with their tusks.

Just as he was thinking this, a dog-headed man turned his head to look at him, then fell to the ground with a thud.

He looked at the guy who was twitching and falling to the ground, and most of his previous speculations had been confirmed.

The corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl up again.

He instantly transformed into a proud little dog-headed man. It was a pity that this group of them had no tail, otherwise it would have at least raised one.

Before, he found that he could occasionally feel other people's malice more clearly. He thought it was the wild instinct of the kobolds, and he also thought that after becoming a wizard apprentice, his mental strength would become stronger and he would naturally become more sensitive. Now it seems that this is also related to the solidified zero-ring spell smelly skin.

This change in the spell allows him to feel the malice of others towards him more clearly.

And after entering that state, those who have no ill will towards him will not suffer from the stench.

Although I haven't figured out how dreams affect spells, it is indeed a good change.

For a moment, he felt like a child who had gotten a new toy.

Unfortunately, there was no one to share this with. He really wanted to find a wizard apprentice to discuss this with. If he was not mistaken, the stench that was fed back wasn't the same stench as in the original spell. Perhaps the stench was already different when he learned this spell. It was something spiritual, a stink of malice, a smell unique to evil. The greater the malice, the more intense the malice, the more of the stench of evil that would be fed back, originating from the source of the malice.

It is feedback, but also a gift of evil.

Pfft!
Another kobold fell as well.

The simple-minded creature, the Gnoll, saw his companion fall down, noticed him in the distance, and immediately felt malice towards him.

Of course this is understandable, but this spell should be used with caution, he thought.

This is a spell that will most likely have no friends.

If you live in a big city or a wizard academy, you must not use it carelessly. Who would be without malice in their heart?

Throw away your arms and throw them all down, not a single friend can be seen.

Just like now, he has stopped his spell because he is going to meet Old Gold Tooth.

Evil can be big or small, and individual threats can be light or heavy. In his eyes, people like Old Gold Teeth belong to the category where nothing matters. An old dog-headed man with limited mobility and dying soon will not pose any threat to him no matter how strong his malicious intentions are.

"Young kobold wise man, you've come to chat with Old Gold Teeth again. What stories do you want to hear from Old Gold Teeth?"

Old Gold Teeth seemed very happy to see him coming.

Ai Sijin was not around.

"Little Ai Sijin is out catching bugs with Big Guy. He might not be back for a while with his big belly."

As Old Gold Teeth spoke, he used his fingers to fiddle with the light threads on his body, looking as if he didn't care about the impending end of his life.

"I've heard you talk about the sun before." He sat down casually, not wanting to stand and look down at the old dog-headed man. "Have you ever been to the earth? Or do you know the way to the world above?"

Old Gold Teeth was stunned for a moment, as if he didn't expect Ruger to say this.

"Well, I knew young people would be interested in this," Old Gold Teeth chuckled. "You can actually talk about the world above ground. It seems you have some other friends. Before I met those dark, pointed-eared creatures, I knew nothing about it. When they talked about their longing for the earth, I didn't understand a thing. When they talked about the sun and the moon, I thought they were food unique to elves."

"But you will be disappointed, young man. I have never seen the sun. I have only heard about it in the taverns in the territory of the pointy-eared elves. They don't know how to get to the surface either. The same goes for the dragonborn kobolds. Anyway, no one I have met has ever been to the aboveground world."

Old Jin Ya curled his lips and twitched the corners of his mouth, as if the light on his face made him very uncomfortable.

"Oh right, those pointed-eared people said that the sun, those human underground cities, are very large. Each of them has a sun above its head. They said that the light can illuminate the entire underground area surrounding the city. And after a period of isolation, the light will dim, and then brighten again after a period of time. When it gets dark, humans sleep in their nests."

Old Gold Teeth kept marveling at the power of human beings.

When Ruger couldn't hear anything new from him, he would start to bring up the next topic. Old Gold Teeth was happy about this because there were always new topics to talk about.

This unexpected old dog-headed man is like a treasure trove that is difficult to empty, but there are times when it gets stuck.

"The kobold tribe that serves the dragon must be very powerful," Ruger guided him. "I encountered a group of tall kobolds with iron weapons before. They appeared nearby and happened to run into a group of lizardmen and started fighting. I wonder if they are from the same place as you."

"I didn't expect the area to be in such chaos. It seems you were right not to let Aisijin go hunting with them. Unfortunately, I'm exhausted and it's hard to even eat meat..."

Old Jin Ya kept talking on and on, but he never mentioned where his former tribe was.
