Chapter 72 Turbidity and Pool Water
Chapter 72 Turbidity and Pool Water
"It's brighter than the cave city where I live. This is the first time I've been to such a bright and beautiful place." A middle-aged apprentice exclaimed.
Several wild wizard apprentices nearby whispered to each other and then walked away together.
Everyone is excited about this mysterious city, at least for now.
Ruger looked at Baonte, and Baonte also glanced at him, then turned and left. Ruger laughed and followed him shamelessly.
"Ah! Manson? Manson! I just took two steps and figured out a problem. It's too scary here. Should we leave?" An apprentice in the distance called out to his companion in panic.
Everyone nearby who heard the sound slowed down their pace, even Baonte stopped and looked over.
"Idiot, that's what you deduce every day. You just happened to figure it out here."
"Those terrifying things in the world of knowledge might actually burst one's brain..."
"Don't worry, knowledge doesn't seek out fools..."
The two wizard apprentices talked in low voices and gradually walked away.
Ruger turned around and saw that Baonte had walked away without him knowing when. He hurriedly caught up with him in small steps. He planned to stay with the strong man for a while before observing the general situation.
The buildings in the city are all made of white stone, including the walls, pillars and roofs, which looks very clean and tidy.
Many pillars are carved with winding patterns that are either exquisite or rough.
The only thing that made him feel a little uncomfortable was that those places he had seen before, where people were coming and going, were empty when he got closer.
Ruger followed Baonte and bent down as he passed a house with a pointed roof and touched the steps in front of the door. There was not a speck of dust on them.
He looked around curiously, but didn't dare to do anything out of the ordinary.
Baont seemed to have his own goals, which made Ruger happy. This showed that Brother Baont knew this city, at least part of it.
There was a quarrel in the distance. When he walked around the corner, he only saw a wizard apprentice. The wizard apprentice with a rough face spoke in a high and low voice, as if he was arguing with the air in front of him.
Baonte seemed to see Ruger's doubts and said slowly, "First, don't let your imagination run wild. Don't dwell on difficult problems in this place. Everyone has their limits. Save your opportunities for truly valuable things. Of course, this is just a possibility..."
Suddenly, the apprentice waved his arms excitedly, and then pinched his own neck angrily.
Then, amidst a roar, a dazzling light burst out. When everything quieted down and the light dissipated, only a square black object remained on the ground.
"He is dead."
Baonte walked over and picked up a book from the ground in front of Ruger's surprised gaze.
The sturdy man looked at the book in his hand and sighed for no apparent reason.
"This book is his legacy. He is just an introduction. The content of the book is not necessarily related to him. It is a combination of his level of power, the power of this city, the gift of the world of knowledge, and even his thoughts before his death. It is a book that was created by coincidence."
Baonte said as he put the book away. It seemed to be a spell book.
"These advices are the reward for helping me pick up the staff. Don't follow me from now on. I have things to do." Baonte said and turned to leave.
If there's one, there's another, Luger thought.
"Are you looking for your friend named Kalu? Do you suspect he might not be dead?" Ruge quickly changed the subject and stopped him. "Tell me what he looks like. I'll wander around the city and take a look for you." Bayonte paused.
"Be careful when you're wandering around, don't enter any houses in this city without permission."
As Baonte spoke, he threw over a scroll with experimental records written on the back. It was obviously a piece of paper torn off at random. Ruger took it and unfolded it. He saw that only a few strokes were used to outline the face of a person with great charm.
Luger's breathing hitched, then returned to normal.
"Well, the painting is really amazing," he said.
Baonte looked at him and said, "This guy cares a lot about his appearance. He's old, but he still looks very young. But he's very cunning. If he wasn't dead, he would definitely change his appearance to sneak in here."
That means you don't expect much from me, thought Ruger.
"This is for you. If you really see it, throw it away and I will come to you." Baonte handed over a small ball the size of a fingernail.
Luger nodded vigorously, put it away, and then watched the strong man walk away.
When the figure had completely disappeared, he hurriedly unfolded the scroll again. At a glance, he recognized that it was half a human.
But many things cannot be explained.
He did not dwell on it any more, but first found a secluded place to try to open the abyss bedroom space. The last incident had left him with a psychological trauma, and this city was also a special place.
As soon as the thought of opening the door came into his mind, he felt a resistance as soon as the space door appeared, but fortunately it was just resistance. After his efforts, the door finally failed to open, but it did not fail completely. The gap after it stabilized was just enough for a person of his height to enter sideways. Everything was so perfect.
Feeling relieved, Ruger began his wandering journey.
His wandering was not without purpose, of course. He recalled the street corner where he saw the little crybaby disappear, and tried hard to identify the surrounding buildings. If he saw someone he knew, he would naturally go to visit him. The little guy seemed to be the key to this city, and it must have been a difficult journey to get here. After all, the other's younger brother was still in his hands, so he naturally had to care more about him, as they were half-relatives.
As he walked, he was still thinking about the half-man.
Thinking about this kind of question shouldn't lead to any danger, right?
The half-man's actions were completely unlike those of a wizard apprentice, and those things were not something an apprentice could do. Moreover, Baonte had clearly stated that a wizard apprentice could not erase the mark on someone else's storage bag.
If the half-human is Kaliu, then how could he be defeated so easily by Baonte? What's with the half-human's illusory state? And why are his eyes and nose barely able to move? And the individual who was split into two halves, that half head seemed to have the ability to think independently.
If the half-man could appear in front of him now, he would definitely not be able to help but ask the other party, at least he would ask whether the other party is Karu.
No, Ruger suddenly thought, it would be best if the half-man never appeared in front of him, not when he was in this city.
I walked around a few more streets while thinking about random things.
A large overlapping trapezoidal pool appeared in front of him. Clear water flowed down from the top layer, filling the stepped fan-shaped pools below in turn. The water in the pool was flowing as if it would never run out. More than a dozen wizard apprentices had gathered by the pool.
Ruger walked over and first looked up at the highest point. At the end of the pool there was a tall building, like a palace.
He looked around and found an interesting phenomenon. Many wizard apprentices had already walked into the pool and sat in the water with a look of joy on their faces, meditating. The pool had more than twenty layers of steps. Most of those who walked into the third layer and above were wild wizards, while those guys who thought highly of themselves mostly sat cross-legged on the first or second layer.
Ruger boldly guessed that many of these guys might be low-level apprentices like him.
