Dragon Clan: Avoid the College Entrance Examination to Slay the Dragon
Chapter 49: Demon Slayer
Chapter 49: Demon Slayer (Part 2)
The gold in Gu Yi's pupils suddenly collapsed into a blazing white, and then exploded into a red-gold flame within a second.
The dragon-like monster's pupils trembled at an extremely rapid rate, its retina reflecting countless afterimages of Gu Yi. It roared in confusion, its claws instinctively sweeping towards the empty space to its left, but found nothing.
The true blade cut in from the upper right. The blade trembled, letting out a dragon's roar. Sparks erupted as the blade sliced through the armor like a welding torch cutting through steel. The black blood, before it could even gush out, was evaporated into a foul-smelling mist by the blade's energy.
The monster stumbled and turned, a second blade flash already rising from the bottom. The scales at the cervical vertebrae cracked, exposing the bluish-gray carotid artery. As it tried to shield its vitals with its bony tail, a third Gu Yi's afterimage appeared directly in front of it, its Miao Dao piercing its right eye socket like a venomous snake.
Time flowed slowly within the domain. Walker watched as the young man transformed into a crimson-gold meteor, weaving a web of death around the monster. Each blade flash pierced precisely between the scales, and the trail of black blood spurting out solidified within the time-slowing domain into a thorny black forest.
"laugh--"
When the thirty-seventh blade mark appeared on the back of the monster's knee, time suddenly returned to normal. Accumulated kinetic energy erupted like a tsunami, and the dragon-like creature was pressed to the ground as if by an invisible giant hand. The shockwave shattered the nearby tiles, and the dust rising from the spiderweb-like cracks was shattered by the blade's energy before it could even rise into the air.
"Get ready!" Caesar's roar came from the ruins on the second floor.
Gu Yi quickly turned and retreated, his tactical boots plowing two scorch marks on the ground. The moonlight illuminated the Qinghe Knife in his hand - the originally silver blade was now covered with spiderweb-like blood patterns.
The outer wall of the second floor collapsed with a loud bang, and Caesar burst through the smokescreen. The dark silver firearm in his arms shone with alchemical patterns, and the barrel, as thick as a baby's arm, now spewed a meter-long tongue of flame.
"boom!!"
The thunderous roar of gunfire set car alarms blaring across the street. Walker watched as Caesar's golden hair danced like a lion's mane in the blast, his expensive combat uniform instantly ripped to shreds by the recoil. The nobleman flew backward like a kite with its string cut, crashing through three layers of plaster wall before finally coming to a stop.
The monster was struck head-on like a meteorite. The moment the specially designed warhead made contact with the scales, it split into twelve alchemical armor-piercing cones, spinning and burrowing into the cracks in the dragon's bone cage. The moment the mercury-silver core made contact with the heart, a stream of high-temperature plasma exceeding a thousand degrees Celsius erupted from the projectile's interior.
"Crackling——"
With a teeth-grinding sound of bones cracking, the monster's chest exploded. Obsidian breastplate fragments, mixed with bone cage and boiling dragon blood, splattered everywhere. Its dark golden heart, the size of a steering wheel, was exposed to the air, its densely packed blood vessels twitching at an extremely rapid rate.
"It's over." Gu Yi's voice was so light that it sounded like a sigh.
Before the blood drops from the Qinghe Blade's tip had even landed on the ground, the young man had already charged forward through the boiling blood mist. His pupils reflected the monster's shattered golden pupils.
"chi"
The blade pierced the heart.
-
The little boy stood under the oak tree with a pout on his face as several other kids hurled balls at his chest. "Stupid Carl's dad is a drug addict!"
The freckled boy stuck out his tongue, "Mom said playing with you will make me a retard!"
Tears welled up in the little boy's blue eyes and he turned around and walked away crying.
In the distance, the crisp sound of high heels hitting the pavement could be heard. A woman's lake blue skirt swept around the corner, and the scent of lavender and cheap cigarettes mingled with the summer breeze.
"mom!"
The little boy kicked the cans blocking his way, the worn toes of his shoes kicking up dust. He first walked quickly, then broke into a sprint, the ketchup-stained hems of his clothes flapping like dove wings.
Before the last ray of sunset light disappeared, he bumped into that warm embrace. The woman's hands, painted with rose-red nail polish, were trembling, but she firmly caught the little boy who rushed towards her.
——Gu Yi looked at the monster in front of him in silence.
Its bony claws hung at its sides, and its crumbling dragon body actually took on an embracing posture.
Just now, it didn't defend itself, but instead took the initiative to meet its own blade.
The young man suddenly drew his knife and retreated, boiling black blood rushing down the tilted blade and winding into a spider web between the bricks.
The monster's grayish-blue body collapsed to the ground with a thud. Beneath the scaly skin of the human being, the faint outline of a man curled up emerged.
Walker watched the boy's wrist shake slightly, and with the sharp sound of the Qinghe Blade tearing through the air, sticky black blood splattered on the ground like oil.
Gu Yi sheathed his sword.
The red-gold in his eyes faded like the receding tide, revealing his original amber pupils. But when the evening breeze brushed against his drooping eyelashes, Walker felt vaguely that the boy was a little... sad?
"Those who have cleaned up the mess may proceed!" Walker's command resounded through the deadly silent streets. He suddenly realized that the Executive Bureau commissioners around him were as if under a spell, with over twenty pairs of eyes fixed on the center of the battlefield—where the vaporizing dragon's remains lay, and where the ground was covered in black blood reflecting an eerie rainbow light.
"Didn't you hear me?!" He roared for the second time, sweeping the white light of his tactical flashlight across everyone's stunned faces.
As if the mute button had been suddenly pulled out, everyone quickly replied, “Yes!”
The click of gas masks snapping shut, the clang of metal containment boxes opening, and the hum of mercury vapor sterilizers starting up instantly filled the space.
"Mission successful, target defeated." Walker pressed the intercom.
"Got it." Schneider replied: "After the follow-up work is completed, submit the mission report to me before tomorrow morning." After that, Schneider stopped communicating.
In the busy tone of the communication interruption, Walker noticed that Gu Yi was looking at a broken floor tile - there was a small piece of burnt paper slowly curling in the black blood.
"As expected of an S-rank." Walker walked over to the boy's side. "Well done! I dare say few in the Executive Bureau can do as well as you."
Gu Yi's thumb unconsciously stroked the jade Pixiu on the hilt of his sword. "Thank you for the compliment. I'll go see Caesar."
Gu Yi stepped over the still-smoking remains of the staircase. Moonlight filtered through the hole in the ceiling, weaving a silver-blue spiderweb across the ruins. Caesar lay faceup between the toppled filing cabinet and the drywall, his expensive handmade shirt stained with concrete dust, and a half-shard of a ceramic vase stuck in his blond hair.
"Can you give me a hand?" Caesar stretched out his hand. Gu Yi noticed the unnatural twist of his right shoulder. When he stretched out his hand, he deliberately avoided the bruise and held his left hand.
The moment their hands touched, Caesar leaped up with the force, his posture still as graceful as a dance. "Those lunatics in the Equipment Department should carve the recoil parameters on their tombstones next time. This is the last time I'll use something they modified."
The two walked on the creaking floorboards toward the spiral staircase. Gu Yi used his scabbard to push aside the hanging wires. The moonlight suddenly became brighter, and they saw that the sofa on the first floor was miraculously intact - the Italian calfskin shone with the luster of mother-of-pearl in the moonlight, but the surface was covered with a layer of dust and broken glass.
"Can you make up for the points you were deducted this time?" Gu Yi sat down.
Caesar sank into the sofa, raising a cloud of gray dust. "Easy."
The night wind suddenly rushed in through the broken French window, blowing up papers all over the floor like flying white doves.
The two of them didn't speak anymore, just sat quietly, and before they knew it, Gu Yi fell asleep.
