Journey 1995:Non-Stop

Chapter 119 Supplementary Lessons

Chapter 119 Supplementary Lessons
In Yichun, Lao Guo was helping his uncle with shipping goods. His uncle would only be with him for a few months, and by May, Lao Guo would be all alone.

A single freight car can easily cost 100,000 yuan; this is a big deal. It's perfectly normal for Lao Guo's father to provide him with a mobile phone. If he doesn't take on this kind of business at 18, is he supposed to wait until he's 81?

Although Yan Hui didn't have 100,000 yuan, 30,000 yuan was still a considerable sum. If he found a suitable person, they could hitch a ride together to ship the goods, and he would take 30%. In short, Yan Hui was willing to risk all his savings on this first business deal.

Yan Hui had Lao Guo write down the landline number, and then he also had Lao Guo write down his pager number. If there was an emergency, Lao Guo could call this number and have the boss page Yan Hui. Yan Hui would definitely pay the phone bill when he arrived.

After making the call, Yan Hui rushed to the bookstore. He knew a thing or two about tutoring books for eighth and ninth graders, and he bought eight books, which couldn't all fit in his bag.

When Su Jin arrived, Yan Hui was in a dilemma. He had planned to send the books, letters, clothes, and Mickey Mouse doll together, but it wasn't convenient to do so now. The books were too heavy; carrying them was awkward, but leaving them behind was also problematic.

The new "Story Collection" that Su Jin sent was very thin; the four books were about the thickness of a study guide.

"These are all junior high school books, right? What are these...?" Su Jin asked curiously.

"I bought it for my younger sister, she's in the second year of junior high school."

"You bought this for your sister?" Su Jin asked curiously. "How come I didn't know you had a sister?"

"I have an older sister," Yan Hui said with a smile. "You didn't ask me, how would you know?"

"That's great. I'm an only child in my family. I wish I had an older brother or sister so my dad wouldn't have to watch me study all the time."

"Then you won't just have one person watching you study," Yan Hui laughed.

"Haha, that's true." Su Jin thought for a moment, "My friend is coming over in a bit, she'll be here around 10 o'clock, let's have lunch together. My friend is coming, I'll treat her."

"No way, it's a deal I'm treating." Yan Hui shook his head. "I know a really good restaurant. By the way, your friend... male or female?"

"She's a girl, her name is Lan Yudie, and she's incredibly beautiful!" As she said this, Su Jin secretly glanced at Yan Hui.

"Oh, oh, oh, it's a woman," Yan Hui visibly breathed a sigh of relief. "She'll have to wait a while. I'll put these books back in my shop first. Otherwise, it'll be really inconvenient to carry them around."

"Your shop is nearby?" Su Jin asked curiously. "Would it be convenient for you to show me around?"

"It's fine, but you can't laugh at me. I just set it up recently. It's just a small storefront, and there's nothing inside." Yan Hui said somewhat embarrassedly.

"It's nothing, just treat it as a walk."

"Okay." Yan Hui nodded and pointed in a direction. "Then come with me."

The two walked and talked about stories from "Story Collection," becoming more and more happy as they talked, until they arrived at the timber market.

Su Jin lives nearby and of course knows about this market, but she has never been inside.

"Wow, this place is huge! It's so busy here. I often see trains pulling logs into this area. My home isn't too far from the railway." Su Jin found everything quite novel after entering.

Most of the people coming in and out of the entrance are movers. It's alright this time of year; in the summer, many of them are shirtless. It's normal that Su Jin, a girl, has never been inside.

"It is indeed quite busy; it's basically like this every day here."

Chatting, the two soon arrived at Yan Hui's shop. This week, Yan Hui had already designed a sign for his shop, which read "Great Ambitions Trading Co., Ltd." The words were written by Yan Hui himself with chalk.

"Is this your company?" Su Jin read it out word by word, then nodded. "The name sounds pretty powerful! And you can tell you wrote the characters yourself."

"Of course, we should give it a grand name," Yan Hui said proudly.

Unlocking the door, the state of the room was immediately apparent: a table and chairs, paper and pens, a teapot and cups, and a bed.

"Would you like some tea? Wait a moment, I'll go get a pot of hot water," Yan Hui said, inviting Su Jin to sit down.

"I'm not drinking anymore. If Yudie goes to the bookstore and can't find me, she'll scold me." Su Jin glanced around the house briefly and nodded. "I didn't expect you to live here alone, and you even fold your blankets so neatly."

"I'm used to it. Tidying up is just a piece of cake, isn't it?" Yan Hui didn't think much of it. "I don't usually live here. I live with my brother. I told you about it last time."

"Oh, I thought when I saw the blanket..."

...

There was really nothing to see inside, so Yan Hui left the books he had bought for his sister, along with a copy of "Story Collection," there before locking the door and leaving the market with Su Jin.

When it comes to timber, Yan Hui is very knowledgeable. He told Su Jin some things about timber on the way, which Su Jin found quite interesting.

As soon as Yan Hui arrived at Xinhua Bookstore, he saw a tall, beautiful woman standing at the entrance. Su Jin, seeing her, immediately went over to greet her: "Yu Die, didn't we agree on ten o'clock? You're here so early?"

"I said it was ten o'clock, but you said you would arrive at nine? I came early, and you're not here?" Lan Yudie looked at Yan Hui.

Lan Yudie was wearing a pretty floral shirt and sweatpants, but her appearance was delicate and fragile. This contrast created a unique youthful beauty, and many people passing by the bookstore kept glancing at her.

“My friend, Yan Hui, Yan as in color, Hui as in brilliance. He’s a businessman and also loves reading.” Su Jin looked at Yan Hui, then introduced her friend to him, “This is Lan Yudie, whom I just told you about, the class beauty. Isn’t she pretty?”

"Hello." Yan Hui greeted Lan Yudie, thus acknowledging their acquaintance.

Seeing that Yan Hui didn't show that special expression he usually has when he sees a beautiful woman, Su Jin was quite happy: "We agreed to go to the bookstore to read today, and Yan Hui said he'd treat us to lunch. I'll take you bowling this afternoon."

"That's great? I don't have to spend a single penny?" Lan Yudie nodded gently. "Well done, Sister Su!"

"It's decided then and there." Su Jin nodded.

Yan Hui had been reading some books on woodworking machinery these past few days, but he found them rather obscure and difficult to understand. He roughly understood that the problem lay in his own lack of basic physics knowledge.

He had taken physics classes, but that was about it. He only knew a little about levers and pulleys in mechanics, and only had a basic understanding of electromagnetism.

Back in junior high, nobody knew what electromagnetism was. I just memorized a little bit of knowledge.

Today is different. Yan Hui learned a lot from Wang Chao at his fourth uncle's factory. He can at least understand the relevant knowledge about electromagnetic induction.

So today, Yan Hui plans to brush up on physics. He can ask Su Jin anytime if he doesn't understand something.
