Chapter 84 Fallen Angel
Chapter 84 Fallen Angel
The number of shadow wolves far exceeded expectations. They surrounded the team from all directions and the situation was extremely critical.
Robin swung his sword at a lunging shadow wolf, the blade scraping through its fur but failing to cause fatal damage.
The shadow wolf's fur is extremely tough, and ordinary attacks are difficult to be effective.
"Their weak points are their eyes and abdomen!" Lina reminded loudly.
Robin immediately adjusted his tactics and attacked Shadow Wolf's eyes and abdomen.
His swordsmanship was already superb, and with his initial control over magic, his attacks became even more precise and powerful.
Soon, he successfully killed a shadow wolf.
There were too many shadow wolves, and the team gradually fell into a difficult battle.
Just as a shadow wolf pounced on Robin from the side, Lina suddenly released a powerful ice magic, freezing the shadow wolf into an ice cube.
"Thank you!" gasped Robin.
Lina gave him a cold look: “Don’t be distracted, the battle is not over yet.”
Robin nodded and continued to fight. After a fierce battle, the team finally repelled the Shadow Wolf's attack.
Everyone was injured to varying degrees. Carl's arm was deeply wounded by the Shadow Wolf's claws, and blood was flowing.
"Damn, these guys are so troublesome." Carl said gritting his teeth, his face a little pale.
Lina came over and used the potion prepared in advance to stop the bleeding and heal Carl's wounds.
Robin helped clean up the battlefield and check the injuries of others.
"We have to leave here as soon as possible." Lina said, "Shadow Wolves are pack monsters, and their companions may arrive soon."
Karl nodded and forced himself to stand up: "Everyone, pack up, we will travel overnight and leave this wasteland as soon as possible."
The team quickly packed up and continued their journey north. Robin walked at the end of the team, vigilantly observing the movements around him.
His heart was filled with uneasiness, and he always felt that the Shadow Wolf's attack was not accidental.
"Do you think there's something wrong with this attack?" Robin asked Lena in a low voice.
Lina frowned, as if she was thinking the same thing: "Shadow Wolves usually don't attack large groups unless... someone deliberately lures them over."
Robin's heart trembled: "You mean, someone wants to deal with us?"
Lina nodded, her tone serious: "This possibility cannot be ruled out. We have to be careful."
Robin didn't say anything else, but he became more alert in his heart.
The team marched hurriedly in the night, everyone on edge, fearing that the shadow wolves would attack again.
Robin walked at the end of the team, his eyes occasionally scanning the darkness around him, and he never put down the sword in his hand.
"Roy, who do you think is behind this attack?" Carl walked up to Robin and asked in a low voice.
Although his arm had been treated by Lina, it still hurt a little and his face was a little pale.
Robin shook his head and whispered, "I'm not sure, but the Shadow Wolves wouldn't attack us for no reason. Maybe someone deliberately lured them here, or maybe we were being targeted."
Karl frowned, a trace of worry flashed in his eyes: “If it’s the latter, then we’re in big trouble.”
Robin didn't respond, but he already had a guess in his mind.
Those gold coins, the old cat's warning, Lina's prejudice against "dark wizards", and this sudden attack all seemed to point to a larger mystery. He vaguely felt that he was being involved in a complex power struggle.
The team continued to move forward until the sky turned pale, then they stopped to rest on a relatively safe hillside.
Everyone was exhausted, but no one dared to let their guard down.
Lina sat on a rock, her eyes closed in meditation, seemingly trying to regain her magic power, while Ivan was on guard, his eyes scanning the surroundings sharply.
Robin walked over to Lena and asked in a low voice, "Do you think this attack is related to the dark wizard?"
Lina opened her eyes and looked at him coldly: “Why do you ask that?”
Robin shrugged and said casually, "It's just a guess. After all, you mentioned before that dark wizards are destroyers of order. They might use magical beasts to create chaos."
Lina was silent for a moment, then nodded: "This possibility cannot be ruled out. Dark wizards are indeed good at controlling magical beasts, especially cunning creatures like Shadow Wolves."
Robin's heart moved, and he continued to ask tentatively: "What should we do if we are really targeted by the dark wizard?"
Lina's tone became serious. "If it's really the dark wizard behind this, we must rush to Blackrock Town as soon as possible and report to the Wizard Council. Only they can deal with the dark wizard."
Robin nodded, but he began to doubt the "justice" of the Wizard Council.
He vaguely felt that the conflict between the Wizard Council and the Dark Wizards might not be as simple as Lina said.
After a short rest, the team set off again.
After a whole day's journey, they finally arrived at Blackrock Town.
The town is not big, but because it is a major transportation route, it seems quite prosperous.
People are coming and going on the streets, and the vendors' cries are heard one after another.
Carl led the team to a familiar hotel and arranged for everyone to stay.
Robin left the inn alone, using the excuse of wanting to wander around the town. His goal was clear: to find a contact mentioned by the old cat and learn more about the gold coins and the dark wizard.
Following the clues given by the old cat, Robin came to a blacksmith shop on the edge of the town.
The door of the blacksmith's shop was half open, and the sound of iron hammering could be heard from inside.
Robin pushed the door open and saw a burly blacksmith forging a long sword.
"Excuse me, is this the place that Old Cat introduced?" Robin asked in a low voice.
The blacksmith raised his head, looked at Robin, and then nodded: "Are you Roy?"
Robin felt relieved and nodded, "Yes, the old cat asked me to come find you."
The blacksmith put down his hammer, walked to the door, looked outside, and after confirming that no one was following him, he whispered, "Old Cat has already informed me. What do you want to know?"
Robin took out a gold coin from his pocket and handed it to the blacksmith: "Do you know the origin of these gold coins?"
The blacksmith took the gold coin and carefully examined the symbol on it. His expression suddenly became serious. "This is the mark of the Fallen Angels, a dark wizard organization. Where did you get it?"
Robin's heart tightened, and he whispered, "I found it in a lord's secret room. He was colluding with a dark wizard and killed many people in the territory."
The blacksmith nodded and said in a serious tone, "These gold coins are the special currency used by the Fallen Angels for transactions, and they are engraved with their magical symbols. If you have these gold coins in your hands, it means that you have been involved in their plan."
