The real life of an American police officer: Winning over others with virtue

Chapter 115 Drilling Through the Wall
Daves left quickly, leaving a group of patrol officers looking at each other in bewilderment before getting up to get back to work.
"Guys! Time to get to work! See you later."
Darren stood up, said something to Eric and the others, then looked at the newcomer Lucy and led the way out.
The second one was Weston, and his new recruit, Benny, also came over and stared blankly at Eric.
"Stop looking, let's go."
Weston grumbled, turning to look at Eric, who was smiling:
"Ever since that day, this guy has idolized you."
Eric raised an eyebrow and nodded to Benny.
Perhaps because he really idolized Eric, Benny's face turned bright red. He wanted to say something, but in the end, he was taken away by Weston.
Finally, it was Will's turn. When he saw Jonah approaching, he simply nodded to Eric with a cold expression and led him out of the briefing room.
Behind the two as they left were Annie, the rookie, and Officer Ruhr.
“Eric, this is her evaluation report,” Ruhr said.
"Now it's up to you."
“OK!” Eric nodded and took it, glancing at Annie standing behind Ruhr.
Ruhr shrugged and left with his old partner who was waiting for him. For this veteran, working with his old partner was better than mentoring newcomers.
Now that Eric is back at his post, he can finally relax.
Eric could see Ruhr's ease. He smirked, looked at Annie who was waiting patiently, and stood up.
"Let's go too."
Annie obediently followed.
As before, the two followed one behind a group of patrol officers, walking down the corridor to the equipment depot to prepare the final equipment.
Annie looked at the young man leading the way and breathed a sigh of relief. The atmosphere was the same as before, unchanged.
But when she saw Eric taking out his evaluation form as he walked, she felt a little nervous.
A month did allow her to become familiar with the work of a patrol officer, but there were still many details she didn't understand, and she didn't know what kind of evaluation the other party would give her.
"That guy Ruhr"
Eric walked along, glancing at the evaluation form in his hand. Seeing the perfect score of five, a slight smirk appeared on his lips.
His four points stood out conspicuously on this evaluation form.
Because of this, he couldn't tell if there were any genuine evaluations, and therefore he couldn't determine Annie's current skill level.
"I can only wait and see," Eric thought to himself as he put away the evaluation form.
"Sir, I really have made great progress."
Eric heard Annie's voice in his ear, but he didn't turn his head and just said calmly.
"Is that so? Then let me see it with my own eyes."
Annie took a deep breath and said seriously, "Okay!"
"."
And so, the two of them went from collecting their equipment to getting their car keys, and finally parked next to today's patrol car.
It's still the Explorer patrol car with its prominent bumper.
Eric, like a hands-off manager, watched Annie bustling around, inspecting the car, and putting the equipment bag into the trunk, and nodded with satisfaction.
The novice had done an excellent job with the preliminary preparations, and there was nothing wrong with it.
"Sir, should I drive or...?"
Eric walked to the passenger seat and calmly said, "You drive today." Annie nodded and said, "Okay!"
Turn on.
--------
The local 911 emergency call center room.
One after another, the platforms, resembling monitoring areas, were scattered around, each with a computer screen displaying maps, signals, and various icons.
One of the voices rang out: "911 Emergency Center, what's the emergency?"
If Eric were there, he would have recognized the voice as Abby's, since the two had just parted ways.
Abby was no longer the flustered girl Eric had seen her before. Instead, she was focused and serious, her expression as calm as a robot.
"My son hit his head on the diving board and stopped breathing."
Even though the caller's voice was filled with various emotions, panic and anxiety, Abby remained calm. She glanced at the four large screens above her and her hands were rapidly typing on the keyboard in front of her.
"Where are you, ma'am?"
"242 Bitters Lane! Inside Beverly Hills. Please send someone over as soon as possible!!"
Abby clapped her hands incessantly, and the screen above quickly displayed corresponding images, such as details of the event, like someone drowning, along with relevant addresses.
"Okay, the emergency responders have already set off," Abby said calmly, handing over the instructions. This was a task assigned to the fire department's rescue vehicle fleet.
"Oh my god, his face looks like it's turned purple!"
Despite hearing the caller's tearful voice, Abby remained calm: "Please start CPR immediately! Do you remember the steps? Thirty chest compressions, followed by two rescue breaths."
After she finished speaking, there was no further feedback. Soon after, the noise at the scene became a bit louder. Abby pursed her lips and looked at the screen above. The information displayed on it told her that the paramedics had arrived.
*Click!* The phone was hung up.
What she found regrettable and terrible was that whenever rescuers or other relevant personnel arrived, most people would simply hang up the phone, leaving her completely unaware of what would happen next.
This feeling is awful, like you're not finishing your poop and it's always stuck there.
Abby's expression remained unchanged, but a hint of sadness flashed in her eyes.
Just then, a voice rang out, which suddenly lifted her spirits, which had been somewhat gloomy.
"Calling dispatch center, this is 10-Adam (two-person patrol unit)-11, commence patrol."
The long-lost voice rang out, letting Abby know whose voice it was. Her eyes instantly changed, and her previously dim eyes lit up.
But in that instant, she remembered the scene in the bathroom earlier, and her previously expressionless face began to become very vivid.
"hiss!"
She glanced around instinctively and saw her colleagues busy at work. As if possessed, she pressed down on the microphone, lowered her voice, raised her soft palate, and recalled the sweet meowing of her cat. She added a bubbly sound, and the voice came out from above her nose.
------
Inside the Explorer patrol car.
"Roger that~ Officer Eric, welcome back~"
Instead of the previous crisp sound, a rather sweet voice rang out inside the car.
The shock made Annie and Eric in the driver's seat open their eyes wide and look up at each other.
Especially Annie, her eyes changed instantly, looking at Eric with a twisted expression and a hint of contempt.
A hint of embarrassment crossed Eric's face, and he felt a little like crawling into a wall. Everything in front of him was too awkward. If it were a normal voice, it would be fine, but a sweet voice sounded too strange!
"Holy crap! Abby actually took it seriously?"
