Chapter 61 A Redundant Move

The second floor of the hotel.

When the group arrived at the scene, they looked at each other in dismay at the dilapidated door and the black corpse lying in a pool of blood.

"Eric really went all out!"

One of the patrol officers whispered, "His face is completely gone, it must be a headshot."

Will shrugged and said, "That damn bastard, give him to me, I'll blow his head off too!"

"Hehe!" The patrolman just chuckled and didn't say anything, then started working with his colleagues to maintain order at the scene.

In fact, the act of shooting someone in the head is quite ambiguous; it may involve violations or not, but it is subject to very strict scrutiny.

Therefore, patrol officers generally do not shoot people in the head.

Will glanced at the black man's corpse lying in a pool of blood, at his chest which was just a patch of rotten flesh and his faceless head with only a large hole through which one could see the brains inside. A trace of worry flashed in Will's eyes.

From this, he could tell that Eric had no intention of letting the black man live.

Although the black man's actions were heinous, he still has human rights until he is brought to trial.

Eric did go a bit too far with what he did.

It's still unknown what will happen to Eric, but he believes that the intelligent Eric must have made all the necessary preparations before taking such drastic measures.

That guy has taken so many vacations, he's practically a do-or-die situation.

While a group of patrol officers were busy maintaining order at the hotel, Eric was racking his brains trying to figure out how to get little Vanessa down from his arms so she could undergo the necessary check-up.

No matter how he tried to coax her, little Vanessa was stubborn and wouldn't get down; the more force he used, the tighter she clung to him.

Well, there's absolutely no way to get out of this.

The surrounding medical staff watched in amazement.

Fortunately, quite some time had passed, and another convoy of cars drove up from the intersection.

In addition to the vehicles used for on-site investigation, there was also a police car driven by the duty commander, Daves.

Once they had all parked in a large group around the perimeter of the car group, another group of people got off.

Among those who got out of the police car that Daves was driving, not only him, but also Annie and Vanessa's mother got out.

There was also a man I'd never seen before, looking extremely anxious; he appeared to be Vanessa's father.

Vanessa!!!

The mother's anxious shouts caught little Vanessa's attention. She looked up and turned around, and when she saw her mother running towards her, her lips curled into a sneer, and her face was full of grievance.

Although he is supposed to be sensible, he is still just a child at heart, and after calming down, he still feels a lingering sense of shock from being kidnapped.

"Your mother is here."

Eric noticed this and spoke gently, walking slowly towards the mother who had run towards him, handing little Vanessa back to the mother who was still reeling from the shock.

"Vanessa! My Vanessa!"

The mother was already in tears, looking at Eric with grateful eyes, and then reached out to take little Vanessa.

But at that moment, little Vanessa looked at Eric seriously and said...

Spider-Man, will we ever meet again?

Eric nodded and smiled, "Yes, I will."

"Okay! Don't lie to me! If you lie to a little kid, you won't have superpowers!" Vanessa said seriously.

Eric smiled, simply reaching out to return her to her, and quietly watching the mother and daughter embrace each other.

"Are you alright? Where does it hurt?!"

"Mom! Don't cry! Spider-Man's here! I'm alright now!!"

"."

Only the man, whom they had never met before, stood behind the mother and daughter, and breathed a sigh of relief as he looked at Eric with gratitude.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so much!"

“It’s what I should do!” Eric shrugged, glanced at the mother and daughter comforting each other, and turned to walk towards Daves and Annie who were waiting for him.

Vanessa sensed something, glanced back at Eric who had left alone, and then hugged her mother tightly. A group of medical personnel began to gather around.

"Sir!"

Eric stood in front of the expressionless Daves, and took out the pistol from his waist and the body camera hanging on his clothes.

"This is my service weapon and recorder, which I am now returning to you because of the shooting incident."

Daves took a deep breath and gave Annie a look.

Annie took Eric's sidearm and recording device and looked at him carefully. She then saw Eric smiling and praising her.

She pursed her lips and left the spot.

Only Daves, the duty commander, and Eric remained standing there.

Daves glanced at the scene where some gang members were being dealt with, then looked up at Eric, who had a calm expression, and suddenly said.

"well-done."

Eric smiled.

“But you still have to go through the review process,” Daves said. “It’s a necessary procedure that no one can avoid.”

Eric nodded and said, "Of course I understand."

Daves patted Eric on the shoulder and walked toward the crime scene at the hotel.

"Until then, you should rest here first!"

"Yes! Sir!"

Eric replied, watching Daves walk by, his face calm and expressionless.

Before taking action, he had already considered all the possibilities; that damned black guy was definitely going to die.

So he chose to shoot himself in the head.

He had also considered what would happen after the headshot.

The conclusion I came up with was that he would most likely undergo a fairly rigorous review, but he would still pass.

because.

① Kidnapping children by black people is a serious crime, and the children are in imminent danger.

②The black man opened fire without any warning, creating an immediate threat of lethal force against the police and posing an immediate threat of death or serious bodily harm to the police or others.

③ California law allows police to use deadly force when preventing violent felonies such as kidnapping and murder.

Therefore, all these factors combined mean that his use of lethal force to retaliate against the black man was legal and compliant.

His only risk of violating the rules was that headshot after the threat had been eliminated.

However, Eric also had his own explanation for this: the door blocked his view, and he couldn't see the suspect inside at all.

Importantly, his firing rate was so fast, a completely continuous barrage without any pause, that was enough to make his claim tenable.

In addition, there was the last shot fired by the black man when he was shooting.

Hmm, great, it seems like I'll be taking another major event and on paid leave.

I just don't know how many days off I'll get.

Eric, lost in thought, leaned against the police car Daves had driven up and glanced in a certain direction.

Rookie Annie was standing by the rescue vehicle, hurriedly shifting her gaze, fidgeting as if busy with something, but her hands were empty.

"That girl's peeking at me again." Eric shook his head, felt his phone vibrate, and picked it up without thinking.

It was a text message from that guy, Gök.

"Brother! Please feel free to contact me again if you need anything! By the way, this is my new number XXXXXXX."

"This guy is cautious enough, like he's thinking of me, but it's unnecessary." Eric temporarily noted down the phone number, deleted the text message expressionlessly, and then deleted Gek's previous number as well.

He was doing something unnecessary, but it's better to be safe than sorry. What if some clueless person comes looking for trouble?

Just wait a little longer, leaders, there will be lots of updates coming up.
