Chapter 71 No Wrongful Souls Among His Subordinates
Also in a pickup truck, Daves watched as Eric, led by a waiter, entered the hotel from the driver's seat. He closed his eyes briefly to compose himself before taking a tablet computer from the storage compartment next to him.

Eric couldn't take the evidence he submitted with him, but he could still manage to obtain backup surveillance video files from them by leveraging Eric's status as a victim and his direct supervisor, as well as his role as an accomplice called in by the victim.

A video appeared.

In the dim light, ten dark figures were climbing the stairs and heading into the inner corridor, splitting into three groups.

Because it's from a surveillance camera, the video looks like a special operations video or a movie.

When the four people in the lead entered one of the rooms, a sudden and unexpected change occurred.

One after another, very clear and muffled sounds rang out.

Daves frowned. If he had only watched the video, he wouldn't have known what had happened, but he now had some information.

So this means a battle has already taken place in the main room.

The commotion attracted three figures who had just come out of another room. They all pointed their guns at the room where the commotion had occurred and moved slowly forward.

Here, more intense scenes replaced the relatively calm ones.

boom!
A loud bang rang out, and the first person who had just reached the door suddenly stumbled forward, as if hit by something, and was blasted to the side.

Then, in that instant, another boom!

The second figure collapsed on the spot.

The remaining blasts were like drumsticks, striking Daves's heart one after another, causing his heart to beat faster.

He stared intently, when Eric suddenly emerged from the main room, raised his gun, and fired. The figure who had just peeked out of the room to check the situation fell to the ground.

Watching Eric slowly move through the dimly lit corridor, gun in both hands, firing a follow-up shot, then stopping by the door, picking up the pistol from the floor and waiting quietly for a few seconds before tossing it by the door to draw the fire of the two men inside.

Eric sidestepped and cut the corner, a simple "poof poof poof!" Then he carefully entered the room, and the battle ended very quickly.

For some reason, Daves let out a long breath, a glint of light flashed in his eyes, and his expressionless face instantly fell as he looked towards the hotel for no apparent reason.

"Having such a young man in our hands, I don't know if it's good luck or bad luck."

Daves shook his head, put down the tablet that had satisfied his curiosity, and drove away.

After dawn, this matter will no longer be Eric's alone, but the police department's.

Although Eric was just an ordinary patrol officer, he was attacked on his way off duty.
However, he is a key figure in the girl's kidnapping case, which will involve pre-arranged news segments. What if such a key figure, after rescuing the girl, is suddenly killed when his home is broken into by criminals after get off work?
This matter is impossible to explain clearly. Even if these are two separate issues, they will still cause a huge uproar.

This is not an exaggeration; the girl Eric rescued was not simply an ordinary child.

The consequences are actually quite serious.

The conversation takes two parts, but at the same time.

A bright and beautiful hotel lobby.

"Alright, sir, this is room 402. Enjoy your stay."

"Thank you."

"."

Eric had booked a standard suite at the front desk, took the room key, entered the elevator, and pressed the button for the fourth floor.

While waiting for the elevator to go up, he took out his phone and tapped a few times. Finally, he looked at Oleg's online profile and remained silent.

No matter how he thought about it, he found that he couldn't seem to get around Oleg, which meant that his intuition was about 70% accurate.

"So, you collaborated with the mafia to take my life and then pocketed my ten million, Oleg?"

Eric remained expressionless, clicking a few more times, wanting to use the vast online world to see what this guy had been up to lately and what lawsuits he had taken on.

But before he could start searching, the elevator doors opened automatically.

Eric temporarily put aside his thoughts, walked out towards his booked room, and swiped his card to enter room 402. "Now I'll start investigating properly."

Eric put his shoulder bag on the bed, but instead of going to sleep, he unzipped it, took out his laptop, and sat down in a chair with a small coffee table by the window.

Someone has already come knocking on his door. If he doesn't deal with it soon, he won't even be able to sleep well.

How to investigate what cases a lawyer is involved in.

It's very simple. You can find most of the information by checking the PACER federal court system, the California court website, websites like LexisNexis/Westlaw that cover case records across the United States, and the state bar association website.

As it turned out, he actually found out.

On the laptop screen appeared a record of a concluded court hearing.

The defendant, Noel Gobert, is accused of shooting and killing people inside a high-rise building.

And the defendant's lawyer happened to be Oleg.

"."

Eric opened the court hearing video with a blank expression. The beginning was fine, but things started to change when it came to the witness testimony.

The first witness, a resident of the high-rise building, identified the defendant, Noel, as having witnessed the murder inside the building.

When it was the turn of the second witness, the male security guard, the situation, which had already become clear, changed completely.

The second witness, a male security guard, briefly described what happened, but when asked to identify the murderer, he denied his first testimony, claiming that the murderer was not in court.

This change made it difficult for the trial to continue, and ultimately the murder charge against Noel could not be upheld, leading to his acquittal.

It might not seem like much, but Eric was mesmerized by Noel's arrogant expression, the tattoos covering his arms, and the rings around his lips and nose.

The second witness's statements were completely different on two separate occasions, making it far more likely that he was threatened or bribed.

Judging from the fear in his eyes when he glanced at Noel, the possibility that he was being threatened was the highest.

As for the threat, what kind of person could pose such a strong threat?
Eric paused the video, the camera focused on Noel, the defendant, took out his phone to take a picture, and then entered the phone number he had already memorized.

Upload the photos you took.

Type "Who is this guy?" in the text message box below the phone number.

Click Send.

After watching the text message be successfully sent, Eric placed his phone on the small coffee table in front of him and looked out the window.

Although he had already guessed the outcome, he still habitually went to investigate to find out the truth.

There was no other reason than that none of his subordinates had been wronged.

Eric didn't have to wait long for a reply to the text message; only about ten minutes later, he received a response.

beep!
Eric's phone, which was on the coffee table, vibrated a few times. Hearing the noise, he reached out and picked it up, opening the text message.

"Hey! Brother, so you really have your eye on the Greystone Alley gang after all?"

The phone number belonged to this guy, Gecko, who, like many others in the underworld, knew the most about gangster matters.

"The guy you photographed is Noel Gobert, the younger brother of Quentin Gobert, the leader of the Greystone Alley gang."
"That's a real villain! He's done all sorts of evil! Did he mess with you?"

"How about it, do you need my help?"

"."

Gek kept sending text messages, so Eric blocked him, put down his phone, lay back in his chair, and looked up at the ceiling.

"Alright, now the answer to the question has been found."
