Chapter 36 Theme Day (1)

The hallways of Midtown High School were transformed into a superhero spectacle today. Peter, dressed as the tenth Doctor Who, squinted as he entered the school gates, dazzled by the dazzling array of tights. A backpack shaped like Captain America's shield bumped against his shoulder, and a student imitating the Joker was drawing a smiley face on the glass with a marker. The large screen hanging in Midtown High School was constantly playing a student council announcement: "After a vote, all Homecoming Week activities this year will have a unified superhero theme."

Peter was a little surprised by what happened, but he didn't care much. In the United States, student unions have enormous power, even to the point of changing the school's organizational structure. In some schools, the student union president was able to initiate a vote to change math from a required course to an elective.

This may also be one aspect of happy education in the United States.

Peter, who didn't care much about it, stuffed his bag and looked around curiously. He instinctively felt something strange and his spider sense tingled slightly, but after looking around, he found nothing. Instead, he turned his head and saw the Dalek shell that Harry brought locked on his cabinet. Peter smiled knowingly, took out the book and left.

Culkin, who had been hiding in the back and dressed as Hulk, finally dared to follow. He tried to touch Peter's locker, but found that he couldn't open it and left disappointed. However, he didn't notice that Peter came back to look at him quietly in the distance.

"So it's Culkin who's watching me. Is he planning to put something weird in my locker to scare me?"

After confirming that no one was watching him, Peter muttered as he walked into the classroom. Whenever he was being watched, his spider sense would lightly chime, but judging by the intensity, the person wasn't a threat.

But it’s not a good thing to be stared at by Calkin every day. We should find a chance to teach him a lesson and stop him from bullying his classmates.

Peter thought as he walked into the classroom and greeted Harry: "I saw your Dalek shell, and you just locked it to your locker door?"

"if not?"

Harry shrugged. He sat on a base made from an electric wheelchair. "I kind of regret dressing up as a Dalek. It's hard to move around, and it's hard to put things. I should have dressed up as a Cyberman. Look, everyone's wearing superhero uniforms here, and I can only... sit in this thing."

"No, no, no, a Dalek is so cool, a pepper shaker covered in armor plates, with a laser that looks like an egg beater and a toilet plunger..."

"Man!" Harry couldn't help but roll his eyes. "The more you say this, the more I regret it. What about you? What did you bring? Dr. Peter?"

"I didn't bring anything."

Peter said half-jokingly, "I'm wearing a suit that's similar to the Tenth Doctor's. I don't have an identical one at home, so I just made do with this."

“Oh, the one with David Tennant, that’s cool.”

The two chatted awkwardly for a while, but Amadeus still didn't show up. Seeing that class was about to start, Peter took out his phone and made a call. Fortunately, Amadeus sounded fine and just asked with a stuffy nose, "Hello?"

"Hey, Amadeus, how are you? You didn't come to school today."

"Oh, Peter, I asked for leave from the teacher. I have a slight fever today."

Amadeus' voice was a little dull, and it seemed that he did have a serious cold. Peter hung up the phone with some worry, and Harry also asked a question.

"Is he okay?"

"Just a little fever... should be fine." Peter said and looked at Harry: "Do you know where Amadeus lives? Maybe we can go see him after school."

"I don't know. I just know he's staying with a local family. He never said where he lives."

"I don't know where you live either. In fact... you are the only ones who know where I live." Peter said in a tone that pretended to be unhappy, and looked at Harry. Harry immediately stuttered, and after hesitating for a long time, he sighed: "My relationship with my dad is not very good. He is very harsh on my friends since I was a child. So, I'm sorry." "No need to apologize."

Peter, feeling that he could further confirm that Harry was Harry Osborn, comforted his friend a little and looked at Harry watching Spider-Man videos again: "I wanted to ask you last time, why do I always feel like you watch Spider-Man whenever you have free time."

"Nothing, just homework, that's probably how you understand it."

As time passed, the scene in the classroom grew even more absurd. Girls in Black Widow uniforms were collecting homework. And their math teacher—a middle-aged man who always wore plaid shirts—walked in with a long, rubbery face. "Good morning, students! I'm Mr. Fantastic. Today I'll be teaching you pre-calculus."

"Davos, Master."

Harry, who looked like he was in a bad mood, said this and started another boring day, or rather a peaceful day.

With the Avengers leaving New York, the entire city seemed to quiet down. After class, Peter walked around while checking his phone. Even today, there weren't any special cases that Spider-Man needed to solve. Just when he felt like he was feeling better, he saw Carl King and a student who looked unfriendly opening their lockers. Carl King seemed quite nervous, and when he saw Peter, he immediately patted his companion on the back, and the two of them quickly left.

"Hey! Carl!"

Peter, completely unaware of what was happening, went to his locker, opened his bag, and checked to see if anything was missing. He found nothing, but Carl King had taken nothing. This made him frown. Was Carl King planning to put something in his locker to trick him? Or was he looking for something?

"What is he sure he'll find..."

"What did you find? Smart boy? Or, what should I call you now? Superman in a Suit?" There was a knock on the open cabinet door, and Peter knew who it was. He stepped back and saw Gwen leaning against the cabinet. Not surprisingly, Gwen wasn't dressed as a superhero or villain; she was still in her usual attire. Peter took a step back and adjusted the collar of his dark blue suit.

"Hello, I'm the Doctor."

"…Doctor who?"
"It's just Doctor, I knew you would ask that." Peter laughed again when Gwen didn't understand the joke at all. He also closed the cabinet door after confirming that he had not lost anything - the Spider Disc was with him and would not be discovered.

Wait…is Carl King going to look for my old suit again?

"Carl King hired someone to pick my lock. I suspect they were planning to put something weird in my closet. They dressed up as Thor and Hulk, but did this." Peter said, changing the subject: "So, why are you dressed up as Gwendolyn Stacy?"

"I'm Gwen Stacy. To be exact, the theme day has already started before I've decided who I'm going to dress up as. What's worse is that this damn theme lasts for a whole week." Gwen sighed. Peter thought that Gwen's blonde hair was very suitable for cosplaying as Supergirl Kara, but she herself didn't seem to realize this.

After ruffling her beautiful blonde hair, Gwen finally explained why she was there: "Speaking of this theme day, Homecoming is this weekend. Have you found your dance partner for the evening?"

"Let me guess. You and your new friends were competing to see who could find a dance partner first, and you came to me first, right?"

"Great, smart boy, so what?"

Peter could only respond with a slightly self-deprecating smile.

"No one cares about Peter Parker, or the Doctor, so Gwen, I can tell you this."

"You're definitely going to win."
