Chapter 11 What do you admire about him?

Zhiwan blinked her beautiful peach blossom eyes gently, "I only drank a little bit." She gestured with her finger, her voice sweet and soft.

"Don't drink it next time," Lu Zhan said coldly, and then walked away.

Watching his retreating figure, Zhiwan pouted slightly.

I really don't know what those young ladies admire about him.
She had to be very careful when speaking to him, afraid of saying something wrong.

Shuang'er said, "Miss, let me help you back to rest."

"Mmm." Zhiwan nodded, tilting her head and leaning against her. She felt a little dizzy.

Back at Yaoguang Pavilion, she kicked off her shoes and collapsed onto the couch, falling asleep.

When she woke up, it was already evening. She still had a headache, so it seemed she really couldn't hold her liquor.

"Miss, drink some hangover soup, it will make you feel better." Shuang'er brought a bowl of hangover soup to her.

After drinking the hangover soup, Zhiwan's headache symptoms were indeed relieved somewhat.

"Miss, Madam just had Granny Fang deliver a lot of things," Shuang'er reported, pointing to the mountain of gifts piled on the table.

Zhiwan followed the gaze and paused, momentarily stunned.

On the table were piles of bird's nest, lingzhi mushrooms, silk, jewelry, tea, and snacks.

Why did my aunt suddenly send so many things over when it's neither a holiday nor a festival?

Zhiwan frowned slightly.

Then I thought of what happened at the waterside pavilion today.

Auntie probably feels that she didn't take good care of herself and that Lu Xin bullied her, right?

She brought up Lu Xin's words of self-degradation at the waterside pavilion in order to make everyone hate Lu Xin and stand on her side. But she did not expect that her aunt would feel guilty towards her because of this.

"In addition, Lu Xin has been confined to her quarters by the Second Madam," Shuang'er added, her tone light and cheerful, almost as if she were clapping her hands in delight.

Lu Xin being confined to her quarters was expected, and Zhi Wan was not surprised.

After thinking for a moment, she got up, tidied herself up, and went to the Orchid Courtyard.

As she went in, she ran into the Second Madam, Lou, who was coming out of the house.

"Second Madam," Zhiwan curtsied.

Lou stopped and looked at her intently. Then she smiled and reached out to adjust the hairpin in her hair. Her actions were very kind, but her words were sharp. "Zhiwan, I underestimated you in the past. My Xin'er has lost all face because of you."

Zhiwan looked innocent and panicked. "Is the Second Madam blaming me? But it was Lu Xin who made a scene at the banquet."

Lou was furious and was about to say something when Fang Mama's voice suddenly rang out behind her, "Is that Miss Cousin? Madam invites you in."

Zhiwan glanced timidly at Madam Lou, "Second Madam, may I... go in now?"

Upon hearing this, Lou felt a surge of anger, and the smile on her face almost crumbled. "Look at what you're saying, of course you can. Go in quickly, don't keep your aunt waiting."

"Thank you, Second Madam." Zhiwan curtsied and went into Madam Wei's room.

Lou felt a surge of anger.

Could it be that she thought wrong?
Is Xin'er's loss of face today unrelated to Zhiwan?
Indeed, she's just an orphan girl. Where did she get the audacity to scheme against the Lu family's young lady?

No matter what, her Xin'er is the only legitimate daughter of the Lu family.

However, Xin'er's reputation has certainly spread since she caused such a scene at the flower viewing banquet today.

Thinking of this, Lou had a terrible headache.

She confined Xin'er to her quarters as a show for Madam Wei. But Madam Wei was clearly not satisfied. When she went to apologize to Madam Wei earlier, Madam Wei specifically brought up her son Lu Jun's marriage, just to give her a warning.

Although she felt uncomfortable, she had no choice but to face the problem.

With a sister like Lu Xin who has a bad reputation, I'm afraid those aristocratic families won't be willing to marry their daughters to us.

Thinking of this, Mrs. Lou was both anxious and annoyed, and couldn't help but blame her daughter for her recklessness.

In the room.

Upon seeing Zhiwan enter, Madam Wei quickly beckoned to her, "Wan'er, come here quickly."

Zhiwan took two quick steps and arrived in front of her. "Aunt."

"Sit down." After pulling her down to sit, Madam Wei asked with concern, "Did you drink at the banquet?"

"I only had a little bit, but I almost got drunk," Zhiwan said somewhat embarrassedly.

"It's the first time you drink it, so you might not be used to it. But you'll get used to it after a few more times," Madam Wei said with a smile.

Seeing her kind expression, Zhiwan paused for a moment, then sincerely said, "Thank you, Aunt, for standing up for me today."

Madam Wei sighed, took her hand and said, "Lu Xin has been bullying you all this time, why didn't you tell me?"

“In the past, it was just verbal arguments, and I didn’t take it to heart. Besides, my aunt is so busy managing the affairs of the household every day, and I don’t want to bother her with those trivial matters,” Zhiwan said truthfully.

Upon hearing this, Madam Wei felt very sorry for the girl. She was so well-behaved and sensible that she didn't say a word even when she was bullied.

Thinking of this, she became even more resentful of Lu Xin.

The second wife's mere confinement of Lu Xin is a blatant disregard for reality!
“They’ve already bullied you so much, how can you call it a small matter? You’re just too soft-hearted and easy to bully, which is why Lu Xin has taken it a step further. But it’s also my fault for being too negligent towards you,” Madam Wei said apologetically.

"Aunt, please don't say that. You've been so good to me and taken care of me in every way. What happened to Lu Xin was just an accident. Please don't take it to heart," Zhiwan hurriedly said.

Wei instructed, "If anyone bullies you again in the future, don't keep it to yourself. Come and tell me directly."

“Okay,” Zhiwan replied obediently.

Looking at her obedient appearance, Madam Wei couldn't help but worry, "With your temperament, what will you do if you are bullied in your husband's family after you get married?"

Zhiwan blinked. "I don't think so, do I?"

Madam Wei was amused by her silly and cute appearance, but said seriously, "But don't worry, I will definitely find you a good marriage and won't let you suffer any grievances."

"Thank you, Aunt." Zhiwan smiled as well.

"By the way, when the banquet ended today, several young men from prominent families came up to me and inquired about you. They must be interested in you. Have you taken a liking to anyone?" Madam Wei then asked.

Zhiwan mentally reviewed the young men from prominent families she had met that day, and finally shook her head, "I was so busy talking to those young ladies that I didn't pay attention to anyone else."

"If you didn't notice, you didn't notice. It's alright." Madam Wei didn't care much. After all, the girl was only fifteen, and there were so many people coming today. She was probably overwhelmed by the choices.

After thinking for a moment, she added, "The few young men from prominent families who came to inquire about you today all come from good families and seem to have decent character. In a few days, they might come to visit again under some pretext. Then you can take a look and see if there's anyone you like."

"I understand," Zhiwan replied shyly.

But a sense of anticipation crept into her heart.

There were many people here today, and because of Wang Zeren, she was in a bad mood, so she didn't pay much attention to the young masters from wealthy families afterwards.

Unexpectedly, a young man from a prominent family noticed her and even went to his aunt to inquire about her.

Next time, she'll have to take a good look.
