See the Law of Deception
Chapter 57 Meng Zhang
Chapter 57 Meng Hui
The train roared to a halt at the entrance of the slaughterhouse.
Without hesitation, the three survivors went straight to the ticket check and returned to the train.
Lu Jinzhao looked at the money on his train ticket, which had increased from 1500 to 1900, and confirmed once again that this was indeed just an ordinary [C] level mission.
However, her passenger class was not upgraded.
The three people did not speak after getting on the bus. The woman looked very tired and was drowsy in her seat. Her wounds had disappeared, so she must have spent some money to save her life.
However, her hands were still wrapped in her clothes, making it impossible to see what they looked like.
She didn't open her eyes and look at Lu Jinzhao until she was about to get off the bus.
“My name is Meng Hui. You probably don’t remember my name.” She paused, then corrected, “You probably don’t remember the names of anyone except your friends?”
"But I hope you'll remember me. You're amazing. I hope we can work together again sometime, Chaochao?"
When she said the name "Chaochao," her tone carried a hint of doubt, because Lu Jinchao had not introduced herself like the others, and she had only heard the name "Chaochao" from Wei Ling.
After hearing what she said, Lu Jinzhao belatedly realized that she had indeed not made a point of remembering the names of her companions on this mission.
It was as if, from the very beginning, she had never treated them as "companions".
Mingming still remembers the names of people she barely interacted with during the two missions, "Summoning Ghosts" and "Out of Control".
"I'm sorry." She smiled, but didn't know what she was sorry for—was it because of her arrogance?
But Lu Jinzhao knew that it wasn't because of arrogance, but for a reason she herself hadn't even realized.
"Meng Hui, I'll remember you. My name is Lu Jinzhao." She only told her mission companions her name after the mission was over.
Lu Jinzhao felt a little annoyed. She realized that she had not fully noticed the changes that Yangpi had made on her, and she did not want to become a stranger to herself without realizing it.
She didn't believe that in such a deadly mission, the act of not even bothering to remember her comrades' names was something she could do from the bottom of her heart.
"It seems I need to be more cautious."
"We've arrived at the station." The train stopped, and Wei Ling reminded Lu Jinzhao, who was still lost in thought.
After leaving the platform, the three of them didn't say much before getting into their respective cars and leaving.
What they need most right now is rest.
Back in the dorm, her roommates still didn't react to her leaving without a word.
It was as if she had just finished class and returned to her dorm.
However, Lu Jinzhao could tell that her other roommates were obviously closer. They would say jokes to each other that she had never heard before, as if they had happened during the few days she had been away.
One of the roommates even teased the other, asking who the senior who had escorted her back to her dorm yesterday was.
Amidst their laughter, Lu Jinzhao vaguely realized that this was part of the price of "convenience," and her sense of existence as a normal person was slowly diminishing.
She could hardly maintain her interpersonal relationships. When carrying out missions, the train's "protection" of passengers was also a kind of forced "separation" from normal society. After a while, even friends would gradually stop caring about her.
By then, their social identities will no longer matter; "passenger" will become their only identity.
this is too scary.
Lu Jinzhao lay on her bed in the dormitory. She heard her roommates' voices hushed. Even though it was daytime and Lu Jinzhao returned to the dormitory without saying a word before going to sleep, they were very polite and stopped laughing loudly.
Lu Jinzhao thought she should get up and tell her roommates it was okay, that they wouldn't disturb her, but as soon as she lay down, her body felt like it was sinking into mud. Her eyelids became incredibly heavy, and before she could sort out the jumbled thoughts in her mind, she had already succumbed to darkness. She belatedly realized that she was actually very tired. In the few days she had been on the platform, she had hardly slept at all, and she had brought most of her own food with her. Her brain had been constantly working at high speed, and she was already overloaded.
In the last second before she completely fell into a deep sleep, Lu Jinzhao thought that freshmen were required to live in dormitories, but if she were a "passenger" and asked to rent a room outside, she probably wouldn't be refused.
She felt bad for making her roommate quiet during the day and felt she shouldn't continue living with other people.
With a somewhat depressed feeling, Lu Jinzhao fell into a deep sleep.
Ever since she signed the contract with the sheepskin, her dreams have become bizarre and fantastical.
She could no longer have normal dreams. Either she would always dream of chaotic and terrifying scenes, or there would be nothing at all, just darkness, and her body would feel as if it were sinking into a swamp.
Either one made her feel uncomfortable, and her body felt unusually heavy every time she woke up.
Her sleep was no longer peaceful, and she no longer enjoyed sleeping.
Perhaps because of this, her weight is slowly decreasing. She should maintain her health to cope with the train missions, but nightmares haunt her, preventing her from sleeping and leaving her to watch herself grow haggard.
As Lu Jinzhao drifted into sleep, she could no longer control her expression. Her body lay calmly on the bed, but her brows were furrowed, as if she had seen something in her dream that made her extremely uneasy.
Every now and then, her head would shake slightly, as if she was trying her best to get rid of her dream, but she couldn't.
In her dream, Lu Jinzhao was sitting on something, and although her hands and feet were not bound, she was unable to move.
Her vision blurred as if the sun were shining directly on her; she couldn't open her eyes and could only vaguely see a blinding red in front of her, but she couldn't tell where the red came from.
She felt uneasy, fearful, and terrified. She seemed to know something, and that's why she was so scared.
But only the "she" in the dream knew that Lu Jinzhao himself could only feel boundless fear and anxiety.
She should have escaped from here, but for some reason, she couldn't.
There was a sound coming from "outside," but Lu Jinzhao couldn't quite make out what it was; it was too indistinct. Only a few intermittent syllables came through. As the sound appeared, something approached.
At first, it was just a blurry, somewhat dark shadow.
Then the shadow got closer and bigger, and the closer it got, the more frightened Lu Jinzhao felt.
She tried to see what it was, but she couldn't open her eyes.
Her vision blurred, and the dark figure was already in front of her in a moment. All she could see was black.
Fear was tearing her apart. In her dream, Lu Jinzhao was determined to see what the dark shadow was. She struggled to open her eyes, even though the "sun" stung her eyes and made them tear up.
But the moment she opened her eyes, she suddenly woke up from her dream.
"Huhu."
Her breathing was somewhat rapid, and an inexplicable fear lingered in her heart for almost half a minute even after she woke up.
Only when clear thoughts dispelled the shadows of the dream did Lu Jinzhao's breathing slowly calm down.
"What it is?"
She picked up the sheepskin from the bedside table and questioned him.
There will be another chapter in a little while ovo
