Chapter 26 The Temperamental Little Boy
Chapter 26 The Temperamental Little Boy (Seeking Monthly Tickets)
After Han Su climbed out of the window, he glanced around before feeling slightly relieved. The black, rusty pipes that were right next to the castle were still there, leading straight up to the top of the castle.
The damaged items inside the castle that you have used, such as candles, will be repaired, disappear, or moved to other places when you are kidnapped again. However, the pipes and stairs that originally belonged to the castle usually remain unchanged.
Han Su had already discovered this pattern, but he couldn't explain why.
Is it that the bunker itself remains unchanged?
He had no time to think about these things, so he squeezed out of the window and climbed up the rusty pipe. For him, who was still small in stature but agile, this was a very simple thing.
I climbed up in a few steps, then pushed open the window beside me, and felt a slight sinking feeling in my heart.
Last time, he climbed up to the third floor from here. This time, the pipes outside the window were still there, but the window that could be opened before was unexpectedly locked.
Han Su hesitated for a moment, then gritted his teeth, grabbed the pipe with both hands, and kicked the windowpane hard.
With a crash, the glass shattered. Han Su quickly surveyed the remaining glass shards, then carefully detached himself from the pipe and slipped through the window into the unnamed room on the third floor.
This place resembles a giant machine repair shop, filled with dusty precision instruments and parts, gears of varying sizes crammed together, exuding an eerie atmosphere.
Many of the gears look like human eyes or the shape of internal organs.
Every time Han Su saw these gears, he felt a strange sense of dread, but he didn't have time to waste on them. Instead, he quickly and quietly approached the door.
The sound of myself kicking and shattering the glass was quite obvious.
Even though thick smoke is still billowing from the first floor, flames are flickering, and the cries of children can still be faintly heard from the first floor, theoretically it can conceal some of their movements, but it is not safe. The monsters in these bunkers are very aware of their territory.
With his ear pressed close to the door, Han Su could faintly hear what sounded like a woman's shrill laughter outside.
The walls creaked and groaned, as if a spider were rapidly crawling along the outer wall.
Han Su's heart was in his throat. He was unsure of the timing and wondered if the woman on the third floor would find his room immediately.
But thankfully, just then, a loud bang was heard outside, the sound of a door being opened, followed by stumbling footsteps running down the corridor.
"You picked the right time..."
The moment the footsteps sounded, Han Su slowly pushed open the door.
Rushing into the long corridor, Han Su saw a creature not far away, its body only half intact. The upper half was wrapped in bandages, resembling a glamorous woman with flowing hair, while the lower half was a sophisticated mechanical device, a monster with a spider-like body, climbing on the wall.
The monster had clearly almost reached the front of the room where he was, its eyes gleaming with a sinister light.
Han Su could even see the monster's delight and greed as it looked at him, as if it had discovered a treasure it hadn't noticed before.
But at the same time, further away, a little boy covered in bandages, holding a rusty piece of iron wrapped in strips of cloth, stared blankly in this direction for a moment, then turned and ran away.
The sound of the door opening that Han Su just heard was his.
He was the third boy to be chosen and taken upstairs. Only a few hours had passed since he was brought up, and he was already covered in gauze and bandages, with blood seeping out. He was limping when he ran.
'The grumpy boy on the third floor…'
When Han Su saw the boy, he couldn't help but let out a long sigh of relief.
"This guy is still running around every night, just like before..."
He wasn't the only one who wanted to escape.
As he escaped from the bunker via different routes each time, he encountered this little boy who was also escaping at least two or three times.
And he was the first boy to die on the fourth floor when she escaped last time.
He seemed to be a very stubborn person, with a stronger desire to escape than he was himself. Sometimes he wouldn't even make a plan; he would just run away.
However, it was precisely because he was there, seemingly playing a fun game with the half-monster on the third floor, that the monster's attention was diverted, making it easier for him to escape.
For Han Su, the way out was on the fourth floor, while the half-monster on the third floor was the most terrifying one. She could crawl on the walls and spit out a kind of mechanical thread with bizarre speed and agile reaction.
Without the little boy on the third floor, it wouldn't have been easy for me to deal with her.
"I'm sorry, young man, I'd like to call you a man, but this won't do any good..."
Thinking to himself, Han Su turned and ran towards the opposite direction of the stairs leading to the runaway boy, his movements tense and fearful. The mechanical monster clinging to the wall hesitated for a moment, but only briefly. She glanced at Han Su with a flickering look before turning around without hesitation, her mechanical legs tapping rapidly against the wall as she chased after the little boy.
As she chased after him, she let out a laugh that sounded like a sheep's bleating, which echoed down the corridor.
They seem to be having a lot of fun.
But she didn't expect that Han Su, after running a few steps, would immediately turn around, hug the wall, and follow behind the half-woman, running towards the stairs on the opposite side of the corridor.
There are stairs on both sides of the bunker, but the stairs on the right leading to the fourth floor are broken and children cannot jump over them. Once, Han Su saw this big hole and had to turn back and find a new way before he could rush to the fourth floor.
Ahead, the half-woman was chasing very fast and had already approached the limping little boy.
The little boy realized that the half-woman was chasing him, and surprisingly, he calmly made a judgment, turned around, and went into a room across the street. Soon after, the sound of countless bottles and jars being smashed echoed from inside.
Interspersed among the sounds was a little boy's cry: "Monster, I'll fight you to the death..."
“Baa baa baa, baa your mother…”
"Ugly bastard, come at me!"
Han Su didn't watch the fierce battle; instead, he quickly crossed the corridor and rushed up the stairs on the left.
I felt a pity. Putting aside his manners, this little boy's fighting spirit was truly formidable. He would run if he could, and if he couldn't, he would circle around the monster. When he couldn't get around it, he would start yelling...
Unfortunately, he knew that the little boy's repeated escapes and resistance were meaningless. The castle had long since repaired all the loopholes that could allow the child to escape. Starting from the fifth escape attempt, even he could only succeed by relying on the door that could be summoned by the key.
All this boy is doing is in return for the twisted pleasure of half a woman.
It's like a game you can't get enough of.
“Chirp…”
Sure enough, as Han Su quickly passed the doorway of the room and rushed towards the stairwell, he couldn't help but turn back for a glance upon hearing a series of sounds of iron frames collapsing inside.
He saw that everything in the room had been knocked over, and the boy was using the debris to stop the half-woman.
But the woman, who crawled on the wall as if it were flat ground, easily overcame these obstacles and climbed behind the little boy. A mechanical foot firmly stomped him to the ground, and with an excited smile, the sharp metal foot pierced through his shoulder blade.
The little boy lay on the ground, a look of frustration on his face.
It was at this moment that he struggled to lift his head and saw Han Su passing by outside the door. He immediately raised his hand forcefully.
Was he asking me for help?
Han Su didn't know, nor would he slow down because of this, but he saw that the little boy actually threw a black object out the door with a strong flick of his wrist.
It made a clanging sound.
It was the knife wrapped in strips of cloth.
The boy's final gesture was actually to throw the knife...
This has never happened before.
Han Su's heart skipped a beat. Was this irritable little boy throwing his only useful tool to him, who was running away outside, because he knew he couldn't escape?
He quickly bent down, grabbed the knife, and then accelerated, rushing towards the left-hand stairwell and quickly stepping onto the fourth-floor stairs.
In that moment of slight relaxation, the scene from just now flashed through my mind.
As he picked up the knife, he caught a glimpse of the half-monster, its metal feet embedded in the boy's body. The monster, with its eyes beneath its drooping black hair, was slowly raising its head, staring at him eerily with a strange smile.
Beneath the metal feet, the little boy in the pool of blood stared fixedly at Han Su's disappearing figure, slowly lowering his hands, his eyes filled with disappointment.
Why are you running...?
'Come and get a knife and do it to her...'
'...'
