Chapter 163 The Crossroads

Preparing to participate in the interdimensional war requires a lot of complicated things, but the most important thing is to register.

This was not the first time Jemin had encountered a dimensional war.

At Norren Academy, every five years, when each class of apprentices graduates, Norren Academy arranges for them to go to a plane that needs to be conquered.

At the time, this seemed to be a "trial" for the graduates by the college, but in reality, the activity was also a benefit provided by the college.

Basically, each selected plane is enough to allow a group of college graduates to fulfill their military service requirements.

Combat wizards are generally responsible for the initial invasion and exploration, charging into battle and discovering the main situation within the plane.

The logistics wizards are responsible for the mid-term offensive warfare, clearing out the most troublesome enemies, assisting in the establishment of strongholds, and the later-stage dimensional cleanup and reorganization.

Occasionally, one might encounter a particularly challenging plane of existence. A single plane could even serve as a "textbook" for two graduating classes, providing them with long-term training opportunities.

However, once the "welfare period" (i.e. military service obligation) provided by the academy ends, it will not be so easy for wizards to participate in the war under normal circumstances.

These planes used for expansion are spatial coordinates that high-level wizards painstakingly searched for at great expense and even at the risk of their lives.

These are the most core strategic resources of each wizarding faction, and naturally they cannot be taken out casually for ordinary wizards to participate in at will.

Jemin's situation is a bit special.

Logically speaking, even if the plane used for the graduation "textbook" is conquered relatively smoothly, after five years of preparation, the new graduates can still return to the previous plane to "work".

After all, even if most of the enemies are eliminated, the tedious procedures of clearing out the rebels, inventorying resources, exploring supplies, and modifying the plane will be enough to keep the logistics wizards through the long military service period ahead.

However, the Elosia Plane Cluster was being built by the Norn Workshop as the new Norn Academy, which led to the involvement of many high-ranking wizards and senior scholars, resulting in an exaggeratedly fast pace of work in the later stages.

The entire plane group was thoroughly sorted out in just a few years, and even the origin of the planes was marked with the mark of Norren Workshop.

If Jemin had set off earlier like Amy and Victor, he could have joined the previous round of dimensional wars for graduates and served as an apprentice soldier.

If it's a little later, the next graduating class can also benefit from their "textbook" advantage.

However, his current situation is somewhat awkward, falling right in the gap between two graduating classes competing for jobs.

Therefore, he could only learn from the methods of those senior wizards who were no longer obligated to serve in the military and voluntarily participated in the interdimensional wars—by signing up.

Fortunately, Professor Clark provided Jemin with a good solution to this problem and also introduced him to a wizard who was familiar with it.

"Ms. Viola?"

Seeing the familiar figure on the other end of the communication line, Jemin was somewhat surprised.

He checked carefully and found that he had not made a mistake; the communication target was indeed the serial number given by his supervisor.

"Oh my, Brother Jieming, I didn't expect to see you again. I regretted not exchanging contact information when we made the deal back then."

On the communication screen, Viola greeted Jemin familiarly, but compared to when she followed Amy to make a deal with him, she seemed to have become a bit more lively.

"I never expected you to be a student of Professor Clark. What a coincidence!"

"Also?" Jemin keenly noticed the information provided in the other party's words. "Ms. Viola, is she too? I thought you majored in Potions."

Call me senior!

In the picture, Viola crosses her arms and looks smug: "Of course, it's a pity that my talent in alchemy is too poor. So far, I can only affect inorganic matter, so I can only turn my attention to potion-making. But at least I'm still an excellent graduate."

"But you, who have developed such powerful potions, are actually best at alchemy?"

After learning that Jemin was her junior, Viola became more lively and less secretive about her emotions.

As he said this, his face even showed obvious envy and jealousy: "It's really infuriating! You geniuses are just too enviable!"

"Ah... haha..." Jemin gave an awkward laugh, unsure how to respond.

Fortunately, Viola didn't dwell on the matter too much and quickly steered the conversation back to the main topic:

"Professor Clark has already told me the general situation. You're planning to participate in the interdimensional war, so you need to register first, right?"

“Yes… I don’t know what kind of rules this is.” Jemin nodded.

Viola waved her hand magnanimously: "No problem. I happen to be looking for a battlefield soon, so I can take you with me to sign up. Don't be too nervous; to put it simply, it's similar to a mercenary system..."

With Viola's explanation, Jemin roughly understood what the so-called "registration" meant. Simply put, if a newly promoted high-level wizard discovers a completely new plane coordinate, but happens to have beings of level six or above residing in this plane, or if the plane's environment is extremely complex.

Since his own war system was not yet fully formed and insufficient to conquer independently, the high-ranking wizard who discovered the plane could only rely on issuing missions to invite other wizards to help and gather strength.

This is the main way that low-level wizards participate in interdimensional wars, just as Viola said, similar to mercenaries.

As a seasoned wizard who had been around for many years, Viola was naturally very familiar with the ins and outs of this place.

Guided by her, Jemin learned that the recent registration point for the interdimensional war was not within the territory of Norn Workshop, but at the intersection of Norn Workshop and two surrounding wizarding factions—"Tower of Annihilation" and "Cult of Chaos".

Although these three forces are fierce competitors, they often choose to cooperate when faced with the expansion of external planes.

Therefore, in the event of a large-scale interdimensional war mission, the wizards from all three sides would go on the expedition together and share the spoils of war.

Out of respect for her mentor Clark and their past friendship in the Erosian plane, she offered to take Jemin with her to that special location at the intersection of the three forces.

As it happened, Viola was also currently in the Erosian plane, and the two soon met up.

The two used the interdimensional teleportation array of the Norren Workshop to complete several complex spatial jumps before finally arriving at their destination.

As Jemin stepped out of the teleportation array, the senses transmitted back by his mental energy made him feel that something was wrong.

Subconsciously activating his all-seeing eye, and through observation of the surrounding energy environment and spatial coefficients, Jemin came to a startling conclusion.

This is not a complete plane, but a large fragment of space floating in the endless void!
This fragment of space is enormous, large enough to contain a kingdom, but its edges are marked with irregular tears, and it is surrounded by distorted and ever-changing stars and void storms, making it both spectacular and eerie.

"Oh? The All-Purpose Eye?"

Viola sensed Jemin's energy fluctuations, and to Jemin's surprise, she also recognized the witchcraft he was using.

“Nothing surprising,” Viola waved her hand at Jemin. “This witchcraft is a fairly well-known observation method in the research department. Even if they can’t construct it themselves, many people will specifically buy witchcraft models to build it. However…”

She squinted, touched her chin, and brought her face close to Jemin's body, carefully observing his mental fluctuations.

The way it looked him up and down reminded Jieming of his pet dog from his past life.

Fortunately, the surrounding wizards were not surprised by this, and a few wizards even noticed the anomaly and soon became like Viola after getting closer.

"Oh dear? You built this all-powerful eye yourself?"

The person who spoke was not Viola, but a wizard who had run to Jemin's side and was watching from the sidelines.

The man was shrouded in a black wizard's robe, and a faint black mist emanated from his body, completely enveloping his figure.

However, judging from the voice, it seems to be an elderly man.

Not only him, but the people around him who were observing him were all dressed like this, so they seemed to come from the same faction.

When Jemin heard him ask that, he couldn't help but raise his arm in a gesture of resistance.

However, sensing the fluctuations of a level three wizard emanating from the other party, Jemin restrained himself and did not show too much hostility.

Seeing that he was somewhat wary, the old man who had just asked the question and the other wizards who had come over to observe all stepped back a little.

"You actually constructed this Eye of All Use yourself?!" Viola's voice finally rang out at this moment, though her tone was slightly distorted.

She was momentarily stunned by what she saw, but then she realized what was happening and immediately shielded Jemin behind her like a protective eagle.

"What are you doing? Go away, all of you! Get out of the way! Don't crowd around here!"

Seeing Viola like this, the wizards shrouded in a light black mist around her did not retreat; instead, they smiled and crowded around her.

"Oh, don't be nervous, we just want to make friends."

"Yeah, yeah, it's been a long time since I've seen one that can autonomously construct an all-purpose eye. I'm quite excited."

"Hey bro, what kind of observation system did you load into your Omnipotent Eye? Did you load a Fate-based observation system? If so, I'll pay a fortune to buy your construction model!"

"Are you crazy? This kid is only a level one wizard, how could he possibly have a Fate-based observation system loaded!"

"Adding you as a friend is fine too! But once you've loaded the Fate Observation System, you absolutely have to sell me the sorcery model!"

"Yes, yes, those magic models for the All-Seeing Eye in the database haven't been updated for hundreds of years, they're just too troublesome to use..."
