Chapter 37 Test
After so many years of renovations, this training ground is no longer the simple place it once was.

The interior space has been expanded, more than doubling in size.

The walls and floor are made of a special material that can absorb and dissipate energy, ensuring that the witchcraft experiments do not affect the outside world.

The ordinary target in the center of the room has been replaced with various standard targets and simulated environment devices for testing. On the walls are energy emission ports for testing defensive capabilities, as well as three-dimensional obstacles for testing speed and maneuverability.

There are even several controllable energy release points in the corners of the room, which can simulate different environmental element concentrations.

Jemin picked up the prototype of the offensive rune artifact first.

"First...start the test!"

The offensive rune artifact is shaped like a palm-sized metal disc, its surface engraved with intricate rune patterns that shimmer with a faint light.

He held it in his palm and infused it with a trace of spiritual energy so faint it was almost imperceptible.

The attack rune was instantly activated, and the rune patterns on the surface of the disc glowed with a soft red light.

Immediately afterwards, the light suddenly converged, and a fireball the size of a fist condensed out of thin air in front of the disc.

"Startup successful. Next, attack testing..."

Whoosh!
The fireball shot like an arrow from a bow at an extremely high speed toward a heavy metal target in the center of the training field.

boom!
With a muffled thud, the fireball hit the target precisely.

Although it is only a fireball spell at the wizard apprentice level, this fireball, which is instantly cast by a rune artifact and stimulated by absorbing the fire element of the environment, is significantly more powerful and faster than the fireball cast by a wizard apprentice of the same level.

The metal target was blasted into a deep dent, with charred marks on its surface, and even began to emit blue smoke.

A hint of satisfaction flashed in Jemin's eyes.

Instant cast! Low resource cost! High power!
"Control test..."

He activated the attack rune again, and this time, at the instant the fireball condensed, he injected a more subtle wisp of mental energy into the rune, attempting to control it.

The fireball, about to be launched, trembled slightly. Instead of flying straight out, it drew an elegant arc in the air, bypassed an obstacle next to the target, and then turned again, accurately hitting the other side of the target!
He continued experimenting, trying to make the fireball split into two smaller flames during flight, or to expand it momentarily before impact to increase the blast radius...

Although each precise manipulation requires additional mental energy, overall, the flexibility of the rune artifact far surpasses that of ordinary artifacts.

Next up are defensive rune artifacts.

It was a metal ring shaped like a bracelet. Jemin put it on his wrist and activated it by injecting his mental energy.

A semi-transparent energy shield instantly opened up on his body, emitting a faint milky white light that enveloped his entire body.

Jemin walked toward an elemental energy release point in the corner of the training field, first guiding a large amount of earth element to converge toward him.

As the earth element surged in, the shield's light immediately became thicker, resembling a brown crystal, exceptionally sturdy.

With a wave of his hand, several energy blasts of varying sizes immediately appeared on the training field.

"Let's start directly with second-level wizard apprentice-level witchcraft!"

After a moment's thought, the smallest energy blast vanished without a trace, and then an energy blast the size of an egg flew straight toward the shield on Jemin's body.

puff!
The energy blast dissipated almost without any ripple the instant it made contact with the shield.

"Next level, Level 3 Wizard Apprentice." The second-to-last energy blast flew in.

Boom!
The shield emitted a low rumble, and although it dented slightly, it remained perfectly still, blocking the attack.

That solid and reliable feeling made Jemin extremely satisfied.

Then, he channeled the wind element, and the shield turned cyan.

Jemin ordered the training ground to launch more energy missiles. The cyan shield did not completely withstand the impact. Instead, when the missiles hit, the runes on its surface swirled, generating a weak repulsive force that caused some of the missiles to glide past the edge of the shield and deflect.

Finally, there's the fire element...

Jemin tested them one after another, and the results were perfect.

After thinking for a moment, Jemin took off the bracelet and placed it on the target. While keeping the bracelet active, he manipulated the training field to release a Level 1 Formal Wizard-level energy missile.

boom! ! !
A deafening explosion rang out, and the surrounding protective force field immediately lit up, absorbing the spilled energy.

Standing behind the protective force field, Jemin looked at the surging energy turbulence within with amazement in his eyes.

Although there is only one level difference between a third-level wizard apprentice and a first-level official wizard, the gap between the two is unimaginably large.

If a level three wizard apprentice can only destroy a three- or four-story building with all his might, then a level one wizard can easily destroy a street; the two are simply not in the same league.

As the explosion subsided, the target at the center of the attack was revealed.

The target, which should have been reduced to ashes, was now only slightly crooked, and even for a short time after the shockwave dissipated, its surface still flickered with a bright and uncertain shield light.

The precarious shield finally shattered, accompanied by flickering signals.

Sizzle... Bang!

With a clear sound, the protective talismanic artifact installed on the target emitted blue smoke, signaling that the artifact was no longer usable.

Seeing this, Jemin was unusually satisfied.

Under normal circumstances, a level three wizard apprentice's shield could never withstand an attack from a level one wizard, even if the shield had been modified by Jemin.

The reason the bracelet was able to barely block the attack was entirely due to the most basic ability of the talismanic artifact, which was also the main purpose of Jemin's research on talismanic artifacts—continuous casting of spells.

There are limits to shielding, and magical energies can conflict with each other. The more of the same type of blessing spells there are, the more obvious the conflict becomes.

Low-level wizards typically wear two or three layers of shields, and these layers must be different types of protective spells. The defensive power of these protective spells will also decrease due to interference between energies.

On the contrary, some spells that control physical matter for protection do not have such restrictions.

This talismanic artifact can provide three shields of different attributes at once, but due to the energy conflict between them, the actual protective effect is only about the level of two shields.

So the principle behind this item being able to block the attack is quite simple: once the previous shield breaks, a new shield is immediately released. Theoretically, as long as the shield is released quickly enough, even the lowest-level shield can block the attack of a high-level wizard.

Of course, in reality, almost no one can do this; most people try to put on more layers of shields to act as a turtle shell.

This talismanic artifact did just that, and although the price was its own destruction, it was still quite satisfactory.

"But this reminds me that, just in case, I should produce a few extra of each type of rune artifact as a backup when participating in the trial." Jemin quickly made this thought in his mind.
