Chapter 35 Shanlan and Leopard Three

The other beastmen left with regret.

The male fennel fish swam up to Chao Sheng and stammered, "Thank you."

The sea in front of the ice cave became much quieter in an instant, leaving only a sad-looking female and the little Dumbo octopus.

The female had pale skin and wore dark blue animal clothing with a white stripe down her back. She stubbornly stayed in place until all the other beastmen had left, then she mustered the courage to look up with a determined gaze.

"Please, please help me!"

When Chao Sheng saw her appearance, a pang of pity crossed her heart, but the incident with the female Black Butterfly Shell was still fresh in her mind. Her eyes turned slightly cold, and she said calmly, "Let's wait until next time."

"No, no..." The female shook her head in disappointment and helplessness, still making a last-ditch effort, "There won't be a next time."

Her face was pale and thin, with a pointed shape, as if there was hardly any flesh on it, but her eyes were large and dark, always evoking pity. At this moment, those eyes were full of pleading, "I beg you, just save Leopard Three, I'll do anything!"

"Sorry, we can't help you..." Seeing Chao Sheng's predicament, Yin Xu gave the poor female a warning to leave.

There are too many pitiful orcs in the polar seas; we can't expect Sheng Sheng to save them all.

"Wait a minute." Chao Sheng scrutinized the female, then hesitated before speaking, "Tell me, what's going on?"

Yinxu looked at Chaosheng and a hint of helplessness and indulgence flashed in her eyes. Shengsheng was always so soft-hearted.

Bai Ni covered his head, feeling sleepy again. Seeing that there was nothing for him to do, he planned to go back to sleep for a while. "Sheng Sheng, remember to call me if anything happens."

"Ah."

The female relaxed instantly as the dangerous orc walked away. Gratitude shone in her eyes, and her body trembled with excitement. She understood that Chao Sheng was giving her a chance.

“I…I am Shanlan, a rat-shark beastman.”

"My beast husband, Leopard Three, and I are both wandering orcs without a tribe."

"Everything was fine until recently, when Leopard Three awakened his superpower."

"Although his superpowers are not high, he is always prone to mental chaos."

"After a while, he couldn't stand it anymore, and just then the whale shark clan discovered the sea spirit ginseng."

"But we wandering orcs don't have any crystal coins and can't afford sea spirit ginseng. We can only seek out the whale shark clan to see if we can make an exchange with them."

"The whale shark clan agreed, and they sent Leopard Three to help them harvest sea ginseng."

Shanlan's voice choked as she spoke, a hint of hatred appearing on her pale, long face. "At first, we were very grateful to the Whale Shark Clan for giving Leopard Three this opportunity."

"But when we got there, we discovered that the Sea Spirit Ginseng was growing inside the Black Rift Valley!"

"Black Rift Valley?" Chao Sheng narrowed his eyes in confusion, subconsciously looking at Yin Xu. "What's that?"

Yin Xu explained, "The Black Rift Valley is steep and dangerous, and there is also a substantial black filth floating inside."

Black filth? Isn't that what wreaks havoc on the orcs' mental sea?

Chao Sheng's eyes turned cold, and his heart grew heavy. He said to Shan Lan, "Continue."

Shanlan took a breath, clenched her fists to control her anger, and continued, "Leopard Three went into a mental breakdown after gathering sea ginseng for two days."

"Fortunately, the whale shark clan gave us a sea spirit ginseng, which suppressed the problem."

“But after so many days, the effect of the sea ginseng on Leopard Three is... it’s become negligible.” Shanlan sniffled, lowered her head, and covered her face as she wept. “Leopard Three has been hiding outside these past two days and refuses to see me.”

"He said he didn't have long to live, so he wanted to earn some sea ginseng for me, and then have me find him a beastman to use..."

Tears streamed down her face and mingled with the cold seawater. Shanlan knelt on the ground, weeping bitterly, "Please save him, I really don't know what to do."

"I'll do anything you ask, as long as you save him..."

The female's painful cries lingered in her ears. Chao Sheng knew she couldn't refuse. She lowered her eyes, concealing the pity in them. "Okay." "What?" Shan Lan looked up in disbelief, as if she thought that the barely audible voice was just her imagination.

Chao Sheng chuckled softly, her tone gentle, "I say yes."

"Bring your beast husband here in three days."

“Really…really?” Shanlan was stunned by the surprise and couldn’t believe that she had really moved this female.

“Yes.” Chao Sheng nodded with a smile.

"Thank you! Thank you so much!" Shanlan bowed to her gratefully, a sign of submission. "I'll do anything for you as long as you can save Leopard Three."

……

After seeing Shanlan off, Chaosheng's gaze fell on the little octopus that was lying on the reef and almost asleep.

Its round and petite body was like an orange-red ball, with a pair of fleshy, ear-like fins at the top of its body. It stood there motionless, as if it had grown on a reef.

Chao Sheng's gaze was deep and a wicked smile curled at the corner of his mouth. "Yin Xu, we're having takoyaki tonight."

Eating octopus?!

Oh no, someone wants to eat octopus?!
The little octopus's dull, lifeless black eyes suddenly brightened, and it trembled, shaking its tentacles in fear. "Don't eat octopus! Octopus doesn't taste good!"

"Hahaha!" Having succeeded in her mischief, Chao Sheng laughed gleefully, her beautiful eyes shimmering with purple light, her laughter like silver bells splashing in a clear spring.

Yin Xu chuckled softly, a hint of doting on her handsome face, and shook her head helplessly.

"..." Realizing that she had made a fool of herself, the orange-red body puffed up in anger, and the light, cicada-wing-like fins swayed up and down in protest.

After laughing enough, Chao Sheng composed herself and blinked at the ridiculous little creature. "Little octopus, why aren't you leaving yet?"

"Are you squatting here, eavesdropping on our conversation, so you can give us an extra treat for dinner?"

"..." With its two fleshy fins drooping down, the Dumbo octopus wriggled its tentacles, suddenly becoming a little embarrassed, "Um..."

"I just wanted to ask if it's possible to send another orc in three days?"

"Hmm?" Chao Sheng raised an eyebrow, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes. "What do you mean?"

“Well…” Dumbo the Octopus stammered, “I don’t have any superpowers, so I don’t need this.”

“But my brother needs it very much; he is very ill right now.”

"I'm here to ask for help for my brother."

"Could you..." Not hearing Chao Sheng's voice, the little Dumbo octopus trembled uneasily with its fins, and hesitated, fearing that the beautiful voice would utter the devilish "no."

"can."

The Dumbo octopus stopped waving its fins, its body stiffened, and it secretly glanced at the little mermaid's face, constantly trying to confirm that the sound it had just heard was not its imagination.

"Ahem!" Chao Sheng smiled and repeated, "I said yes."

"Really?" Dumbo the octopus exclaimed excitedly, wriggling its tentacles and moving back and forth on the rocks, so happy it almost wanted to dance. "Don't lie to me!"

"You must treat my brother when the time comes."

"Mm." Chao Sheng nodded patiently, a smile hard to hide on her lips.

It's rare to see such adorable sea creatures in the ocean, so naturally one can't help but be more patient.
