Chapter 18 Rabbit
Chapter 18 Rabbit
Zhang Wenda didn't know what the rabbit was thinking, but the more he looked at the environment, the more creeped out he felt.
Thinking of this, he was about to stand up when he said, "Um, teacher, I'll come again tomorrow morning—"
Before he could finish speaking, two hairy hands pressed down on his shoulders, forcefully pushing him back into place, causing him pain.
When the enormous rabbit face appeared before him, Zhang Wenda couldn't help but gasp. The rabbit's head was huge, almost bigger than his entire body.
Just as Zhang Wenda was feeling uneasy under the rabbit's gaze, the rabbit slowly raised its hand and grasped his severed arm. "It must hurt a lot, right?"
"Is this concern?" Zhang Wenda was taken aback. "It's...it's alright, I'm actually quite good at enduring pain."
"Close your eyes."
"What?" Before Zhang Wenda could react, he saw a hairy hand cover his eyes, followed by a tingling sensation on his severed hand.
A few seconds later, when Zhang Wenda opened his eyes again, he was surprised to find that his severed hand had been restored to its original state.
In this strange place, Zhang Wenda was not surprised that the other party had this ability; what surprised him more was the rabbit's attitude towards him.
Although the rules suggested he should be quite good to the students, his personal experience was a different story.
"Th...thank you," Zhang Wenda replied somewhat awkwardly, realizing he had underestimated the person.
Everything here is strange, but not all the strangeness will necessarily harm you like the rules do.
"Here you go, this is your reward, a testament to your courage in saving everyone." A two-yuan note appeared in front of Zhang Wenda.
Looking at the two-yuan bill, Zhang Wenda didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Was all his hard work only worth two yuan?
Although he was a little disappointed, Zhang Wenda didn't say anything. Two yuan is two yuan, he thought, he'd still made a profit.
Seeing Zhang Wenda take it, Rabbit reached out and picked him up, placing him on the back seat of the old-fashioned bicycle.
The force was so great that Zhang Wenda thought the other party was going to kidnap him. He realized that this rabbit didn't know his own strength.
The rabbit then put the collected items in a red and white net bag, hung it directly on the handlebars, and then kicked off the kickstand with a "bang." It then pushed the bike towards the stairs.
The tires bounced up and down the steps, so much so that Zhang Wenda forgot his shock and quickly grabbed the seat. "Teacher, maybe... I should get off and walk."
However, the rabbit ignored him and quickly pushed its bicycle upstairs, humming a song as the music gradually started to play.
When Zhang Wenda saw the plastic clouds on the rainbow again, he felt like half of his buttocks was going numb from all the bouncing.
"Thank you, teacher. I can go back by myself." Zhang Wenda jumped out of the car and took only a few steps before a large hand pulled him back and pressed him back onto the back seat.
"It's so late, I'm worried about you going home alone, let me walk you home."
As he spoke, Teacher Rabbit pushed the bicycle and took two quick steps, then stepped onto the stirrup with his other foot, followed by a powerful hip kick to Zhang Wenda before flipping onto the bicycle and starting to pedal.
Zhang Wenda touched his face, feeling somewhat helpless. In reality, the difference between this rabbit's good intentions and bad intentions wasn't that significant when it came to carrying out its tasks.
But before he could even catch his breath, another problem arose. He realized the rabbit was heading in the wrong direction; it didn't seem to be the way home. No, rather than saying it wasn't the way home, it wasn't even a road!
"Teacher, there's a telephone pole ahead," Zhang Wenda kindly reminded him.
"Ah."
"Teacher, there's a telephone pole up ahead!" Zhang Wenda exclaimed, his eyes wide as he watched the telephone pole get closer and closer.
"Ah."
"Teacher! We're about to crash into the telephone pole!!"
Just as Zhang Wenda's body suddenly leaned backward and he instinctively closed his eyes, the violent impact he had imagined did not occur.
When he slowly opened his eyes, he saw a scene that shocked him beyond belief: the evening breeze blew past his cheek, and the slender bicycle wheel rolled rapidly along the equally slender power line.
It's already eight o'clock. Under the glow of countless lights and a sky full of stars, a red-eyed rabbit is riding a 28-inch bicycle with Zhang Wenda on the back, traveling along the tall, thin power lines.
Looking around, Zhang Wenda felt incredibly shocked and also felt that everything was so beautiful, as if he were in a dream.
Turning to look at Zhang Wenda's surprised expression, the rabbit smiled slightly with its three-lobed mouth. "Is it pretty? The previous reward was given to you by the Youth Palace Association, this is the special reward your teacher gave you."
Then the rabbit reached out again and slapped Zhang Wenda hard on the back, slapping him directly onto its own back.
To be honest, the rabbit was very strong and almost made Zhang Wenda vomit blood. However, when his entire upper body was buried in the fluffy fur, he couldn't feel any disgust towards the rude rabbit.
The other party is trying to help you in their own way, even if that help is completely useless.
He lay on his side on the other's back, looking at the lights around him like Kongming lanterns, and at this moment, his last bit of wariness towards the rabbit gradually disappeared.
"Thank you."
"You're still a child. Think about happy things, have fun, and don't put too much pressure on yourself."
Hearing the other person's words of concern, Zhang Wenda gave a wry smile; he had no choice in this matter.
It was ten minutes later when Zhang Wenda got back to the entrance of the tenement building. Before the other party could make a move, he quickly jumped down and said, "Thank you, teacher, for taking me home."
"See you next week, little mouse." The rabbit nodded and turned to leave.
Watching the other person's receding figure, Zhang Wenda's expression was slightly complicated. Just as he saw the other person preparing to get back into the car, he suddenly spoke up: "Hey, can I trust you?"
The rabbit stopped the bicycle and stood at a distance, watching Zhang Wenda hesitate for a moment before clutching his arm with a conflicted expression.
“There are rules attacking me. I don’t know what those rules are. They attack me like crazy whenever I don’t follow them.”
"Right now, I've only detected three rules: no being late, no asking too many questions, and no saving lives. Every time I break these three rules, they make me wish I were dead. Do you... do you know what to do?"
After standing still for a while, the rabbit pushed his bicycle to Zhang Wenda's side, knelt down on one knee, and gently hugged him with a tenderness he had never shown before.
