Chapter 56 Greta Island
Chapter 56 Greta Island (Please continue reading)
Greta Islands - Main Island
On the coast of the main island, a portal shimmering with a pale blue light appeared out of thin air.
Immediately afterwards, two figures slowly emerged from the portal; they were Angela and Nar. The two stood side by side, surveying the scenery of the island.
Angra, the legendary druid, felt an immediate connection with the island the moment she set foot on it. A strange feeling welled up within her.
It was as if an invisible yet powerful pressure was surging towards him like a tidal wave, pressing tightly against him. This pressure did not come from the existence of any single individual, but rather from the aura emanating from the entire island. This aura was filled with repulsion and resistance, causing Angela to feel a pang of fear.
This made Angela's expression instantly turn serious. Her previously relaxed brows furrowed tightly, forming a deep frown.
Slightly green eyes looked past the grove of trees in front of them and straight at the pitch-black forest not far away.
Deep in the forest, at the center of the island, stands a towering mountain that reaches into the clouds. Consciousness fluctuations are blocked before they can reach the mountain.
"Old buddy, things are worse than I thought!"
Angella said with a heavy expression, her voice revealing a hint of worry.
Upon hearing Angela's words, Nar turned around, his face full of confusion, and asked:
"What's wrong, Angell?"
Nais, also a legendary fire elemental mage, felt some discomfort after landing on the island, but not as much as Angela did.
The old druid did not give a direct answer to the question posed by Nal. Instead, he slowly raised the wand that looked like a withered tree and began to chant a magic spell.
As the old druid finished casting the spell, a green light surged from the bottom of the wand, quickly intertwining to outline a massive summoning circle.
A moment later, as the light faded, accompanied by a deep roar, a colossal creature, twenty meters tall, slowly emerged from the magic array.
Unlike the Earth Bears commonly seen, this old druid's bear was covered in hard, metallic-like bone armor on some parts of its body, and it also had a single, curved horn growing from the top of its head.
As soon as the Earth Bear appeared, it cautiously surveyed its unfamiliar surroundings before strutting towards the old druid standing to the side. Its massive head, even larger than the old druid, affectionately nuzzled against his arm.
The old druid reached out a hand and gently stroked the earth bear's furry nose, his eyes filled with affection:
"Shanshi, I'm sorry to trouble you to accompany me on this trip again."
Having said that, the old druid climbed onto the broad back of the Earth Bear.
“Nar, come on, let’s get going and I’ll explain the situation to you in detail.”
The old druid extended his hand to Nal, and after the two were settled, the old druid gently patted the Earth Bear's body and said:
"Let's go, Mountain Stone."
Upon receiving the command, the Earth Bear growled and crouched down on all fours, advancing deeper into the forest.
"Old buddy, after you got to the island, did you feel any pressure or a sense of rejection?"
Angela looked at Nar beside her and asked.
Upon hearing Angela's question, Nar slowly closed his eyes, releasing his spiritual energy like ripples. After a few minutes, Nar opened his eyes, his expression now extremely solemn.
"That's definitely the feeling."
Actually, as soon as I stepped out of the portal, I vaguely sensed that something was wrong, but at the time I just thought it was a hallucination caused by the mental strain from our continuous pursuit of the enemy these past few days. But now, after a closer look, I realize the situation is far worse than I imagined. It feels like an invisible force is suppressing me, giving me a suffocating, oppressive feeling that makes it hard to breathe.
I don't know if you've noticed, but my own mana regeneration speed has slowed down considerably. If this continues, it could really be troublesome if I encounter battles that require a lot of mana.
As he spoke, Nar frowned, a sense of foreboding rising within him.
Angela looked at her old friend and heard that he felt the same way, which made her even more certain of her previous guess.
He slowly closed his eyes. In an instant, a faint green light emanated from his body, as if blending into the surrounding environment.
A dozen minutes later, Angel, who was sitting cross-legged on the bear's back, suddenly swayed and fell forward, landing directly on the Earth Bear's back.
This sudden turn of events startled Nar. He rushed forward, helped Angella up, and asked anxiously:
"What's wrong? What happened, Angela?"
Angela waved her hand gently, signaling Nar not to worry, and struggled to sit up from Nais's grasp.
"Don't be nervous, I'm fine, don't worry."
Although Angela's voice sounded slightly weak, it seemed that she was not seriously injured.
Angor sat up and slowly exhaled, reaching into his magic pouch to take out a bottle of potion emitting a pale green light. He tilted his head back and drank the potion in one gulp. As the potion flowed down his throat and into his stomach, Angor's originally pale face gradually regained its rosy hue.
“Old man, I saw Markucht!” Angella said with a complicated expression, his eyes revealing an indescribable emotion.
"Oh? Where is he?"
Upon hearing this news, Nar asked anxiously.
Angell slowly raised his head, looking at the sky completely obscured by dense trees, and after a moment replied in a low voice:
"Just now, I tried to connect with the plants on the entire island to understand what the situation on this island is like."
However, when I received the consciousness of the plants on the island, I felt a deep sorrow, pain, and confusion.
Angela took a deep breath and continued recounting her discovery:
"So I began to search for the ancient tree of life on the island. After some time, I finally found it at the foot of the mountain in the center of the island."
Unexpectedly, Markucht was there too. He was conducting dark magic experiments using the Tree of Life, where several hundred humans were imprisoned, and Markucht had them surrounding the Tree of Life. Besides them, there were also a large number of magical beasts.
At this point, Angela seemed to remember something, and could no longer suppress her anger. She clenched her fists and her body trembled slightly.
Seeing his old friend's expression, Nar patted Angor on the shoulder.
"It's good that we found him. We came here for him, so let's see where he can run to this time."
