Chapter 51 Moving to the New Store

Chapter 51 Moving to the New Store
In the afternoon, Chen Zhou and two renovation workers came to the store to take a look.

Mainly some small jobs—

The previous cake shop must have invested a lot of money; the decoration was really nice. But there's a row of display cases to the left of the entrance, which would definitely be suitable for displaying cakes.

But it takes up a bit of space in a breakfast shop.

My aunt couldn't bear to throw it away, so she used the cabinet to put big pancakes and stuff them with all sorts of side dishes.

Chen Zhou doesn't have that many product categories for the time being.

Thinking that clearing this space would make the flow of movement from the kitchen out much more logical, and customers would have more room to sit.

Although the shop is small, we try our best to make customers as comfortable as possible.

The renovation contractor said the cabinet frame could be reused and placed in the kitchen. With the countertop repairs, it should be finished in a day or two.

The effect will be roughly like this:
Then there's the tableware sterilizer.

Chen Zhou bought a set meal online, which was delivered directly to the store along with the tableware and other items. He and two renovation workers carried it inside.

The renovation worker was fiddling with the equipment, figuring out how to make the wiring look neater.

Chen Zhou then unpacked the tableware.

The round-tipped, single chopsticks are smooth and burr-free, and have enough friction to easily pick up food.

The small spoon is made of ceramic. Although it is fragile, at least it won't hurt your mouth like plastic spoons.

The plates and bowls are made of 304 stainless steel, food grade, and have double-layer insulation. Nothing more to say.

I'm still missing napkins, a condiment box, and a small dish for chili oil and vinegar. I need to figure out how to get them all in the next couple of days.

As for kitchenware, Chen Zhou already had a steamer in his car, and with the steamer in the kitchen, it was more than enough for steaming buns.

When cooking porridge, Old Feng's large clay pot can also come in handy; all you need is a thermal pot as well.

An old clay pot might have more experience than your own work experience.

On the other side, two renovation workers had already placed the disinfection cabinet as Chen Zhou had instructed.

They suggested running a longer cable from the back so it wouldn't be a tripping hazard.

The two sighed:
"This little thing was really heavy to move, so it must be made of solid materials and probably wasn't cheap."

“Who says otherwise?” Chen Zhou handed them drinks. “2500, and this single-sided cabinet is already the smallest model.”

After accepting the iced tea, the two renovation workers were happy to offer a few words of praise:
"This money was well spent."

Chen Zhou said modestly, "We can't be sloppy in business."

Tableware should be comfortable to use and reassuring to use.

First clean, then wash, then disinfect.

This expense, like buying groceries, is something you can't skimp on.
In terms of hardware, besides the interior decoration, the store is missing a signboard.

We definitely can't keep putting up the "Auntie's Breakfast" sign anymore.

My junior colleague said that after I can start working, I should first go to the company and use the computers in the design institute to make a few initial drafts. After that, I can resign.

He was in Cao Cao's camp but his heart was with Han.

On the software side, there are two main certificates: a business license and a food business license.

Last time, Chen Zhou applied for a business license for a small vendor. Now that the store has been upgraded, the license also needs to be upgraded.

Once these two are completed, health certificates for new employees can also be processed free of charge.

Besides the tips on how to manage the exchange, Chen Zhou also planned to exchange ideas with Comrade Wang Meng, and it would be best if he could come and take a look first.

Anyway, he has so many blind dates, so coming here is definitely not a bad deal.

So Chen Zhou sent him a message:

"Captain Wang, there's something I need your help with."

Wang Meng guessed that Chen Zhou hadn't worked overtime today, and replied immediately before Chen Zhou could send a second message.

"What? Someone impounded your car? Let me get Baozi out first."

If we really encounter this situation, shouldn't we rescue Mr. Chen first?
Joking aside, he seems to be doing quite well at work. Last time, he even brought his boss along for steamed buns.

Chen Zhou smiled and sent the original second message:

"It's not that I was detained, it's that I'm opening a shop and I wanted you to come and give me some guidance." Wang Meng: "You didn't even tell me about something this big, Master Chen! [Angry] Send me the address."

After receiving the location, Wang Meng discovered:

"Isn't this the place where you used to set up your stall?"

Chen Zhou: "I've taken over the breakfast shop in the neighborhood."

Wang Meng: "You're really something, Master Chen! I'll come over tomorrow afternoon. Will you be at the shop then?"

Chen Zhou: "Yes, Captain Wang. I live here. I'll be waiting for you anytime."

After moving to Lao Gu's breakfast shop, the tobacco and liquor store next door has now become Chen Zhou's neighbor.

Meng Da, of course, also heard the commotion nearby.

When he came over for a visit, he told Chen Zhou that if he needed any help, he should just let him know, since they were neighbors now and should look out for each other.

Chen Zhou thanked him politely, knowing they would likely have to deal with each other again in the future.

Tony happened to come out from next door to get a towel.

Seeing the two talking about moving, he offered to come and help.

"Brother, I'm a bit busy this weekend, I'll wait until later."

"Thank you so much! Go ahead and do your thing, I'll be fine here!"

The two neighbors were very hospitable, and Chen Zhou thought to himself, "This is the kindness I earned by giving them steamed buns."

Meng Da was more familiar with Tony, so he started teasing him directly:

"Alright, you're not in good health, I'll keep an eye on things."

Tony shook the towel. "You're such an annoying person!"

Old Meng then chuckled and complained to Chen Zhou, "I think Tony is the happiest person now that you've moved in; he's practically waving his fingers around."

Chen Zhou could only reply:

"That's a professional hairdressing technique."

“That’s not wrong,” Old Meng said, putting away his cigarette. “I always want to offer someone a cigarette when I meet them. I forgot you don’t smoke, right?”

Chen Zhou waved his hand, "It's alright, you two can come to my shop for steamed buns. You're not tired of these, are you?"

Old Meng chuckled: "You know what, one day I brought some steamed buns home, and my son ate them all that night. He loves them too. Now that's great, the shop is right next door."

With two renovation workers present, there was really nothing that Lao Meng needed to help with.

The two chatted for a few minutes before returning to their respective shops.

I did see Chen Zhou going in and out of the breakfast stall, and some familiar customers had already come to inquire about him.

"Boss, when will your store open?"

"It'll be ready soon. We'll be having a soft opening next week. You're welcome to come and have a taste!"

Later that evening, Ms. Lin returned after dropping off her junior colleague.

The whole family sat inside the shop.

Chen Taotao looked around curiously.

She could hardly believe that a place where she had to pay for meals just two days ago was now a place where she could eat whatever she wanted.

The little girl looked up and asked:

"From now on, will this be my home too?"

Chen Zhou patted her head. "Yes, boss lady."

Although the store hasn't opened yet, Chen Zhou is starting to feel increasingly like he's the owner.

He said to his wife:

"I'm a little excited too."

Ms. Lin smiled faintly, then recalled the past. "Just like when we moved to our new home."
