Cyberpunk: From Dogville to Legend
Chapter 10 Indiscriminate Attack [Chapter Reset]
Chapter 10 Indiscriminate Attack [Reset Chapter]
Rebecca moved slowly, the weight of the machine gun in her hand preventing her from running quickly, while Pila, Dorio, and Mann on either side shared the turret's firepower.
"Go to hell, you bastard!"
Rebecca gritted her teeth and growled, completely unconcerned as the hot bullet casings hit her face.
A blue light flashed across her face.
Mann, standing beside her, felt a strong gust of wind blow past them.
Snapped!
Rebecca's eyes widened, her expression freezing on her face, as if she had stepped into an extremely cold river while walking on thin ice.
No one can escape the premonition of death, and these cyberpunks who live on the edge are even more sensitive to it.
"Damn it! Rebecca!"
Mann's instinctive reaction was still a step too late.
The heavy machine gun in Rebecca's hand was instantly destroyed, with parts exploding and debris scattering all over the ground.
The next second, she was lifted up by Mann. Dorio's gun was still suppressing Zeta Tech's turret. She dodged to the side and went behind the pickup truck. Years of tacit understanding meant there was no need for words.
They all realized that a sniper was watching them.
So they crouched down and quickly ran towards the unfinished building on one side, while Pila turned his gun and fired a burst at Lin Yue.
Lin Yue kept his head down until the bullets were all fired, then shook off the cement fragments on his head, rolled over, and quickly landed on a slightly lower platform next to the rooftop.
"The heavy machine gun is taken care of, hamster."
The hamster chuckled softly, "That's fucking awesome!"
Lin Yue knelt on one knee, the [Neko-mata] like the Grim Reaper's scythe, locked onto Dorio, who was running towards the back of the unfinished building.
Lin Yue fired the second shot without hesitation. The shot hit the gun in Dorio's hand, and the shattered steel fragments from the gun immediately stained her hand red.
“He’s playing us!” Pila shouted.
"Twenty minutes..."
Lin Yue muttered to himself, "It's a simple defensive mission. All I have to do is set up my guns to slow down the team's attack and wait for the Netherhounds to arrive before forcing them to retreat."
Everything was then completed.
In truth, Lin Yue also cherished his life, but the generous rewards on the panel and his memories of his past life made him hesitate.
At this moment, Lin Yue didn't think there was anything wrong with holding back. First of all, his situation was relatively safe, and he only needed to ensure that the hamster's underground network studio could hold out for a while.
The sniper scope moved, and Mann, who was by the window, seemed to want to observe further. Lin Yue shot through the concrete wall one centimeter above Mann's head.
That's it, let's just wait it out like this. Once the Ghost Hound arrives, everyone better get out of here.
Lin Yue thought to himself.
Rebecca, held tightly in Dorio's arms, struggled. If left unchecked, she would rush toward the building where Lin Yue was and smash the sniper who was toying with them to pieces.
"Dorio!"
"Let's change our entry point. I'm going to find this sniper!"
Mann had no intention of giving up. He gently patted Dorio on the shoulder and jumped off the platform on the side of the building.
Lin Yue's sniper scope was a step too slow to lock on, and the cyberpunk with his rich experience in firefights knew how to deal with him, a lone sniper.
"Damn it!"
Despite his cursing, Lin Yue could only sling the sniper rifle behind his back and pull out a pistol from his waist, loading it into a chamber.
He needed to maintain a safe distance so that the other side would know the situation in Dogtown. If they dragged it out any longer and the Ghost Hounds' forces arrived, it would be difficult for Mann's squad to withdraw.
"They're all fucking crazy!"
Lin Yue cursed inwardly. Shouldn't a normal person retreat immediately upon seeing such a dense array of Zeta turrets and snipers? Why insist on a full-scale attack? These street-smart squads have commendable adventurous spirit.
Is the secret to becoming a legend to leaving no way out?
Lin Yue leaped down the metal staircase outside the building step by step, holding his pistol with his elbow slightly bent, a standard military stance, and slowly searched forward.
He had to be near the hamster; if he wasn't worried, he should have moved to a different spot to continue sniping.
Mann slowly advanced through the complex alleyways under the cover of night, gun raised. This Arasaka Kenshin was a good one he had gotten in the last job.
The alley was filled with advertisements for "Whole Foods" and "Big Gun," accompanied by the sounds of addicts snorting and shouting, as well as the sounds of gunfire from teammates battling the hackers' defenses.
The good news is that the enemy has stopped sniping; the bad news is that they may know I've sneaked in.
"The scum of the Ghost Hounds is really hard to deal with."
Mann muttered something, then darted out of the alley, the muzzles of their two guns clashing together.
Lin Yue felt a chill run down his spine. Mann's physique was much larger than he had imagined. Lin Yue, who was 1.78 meters tall, looked like a small dog next to Mann, thanks to his cybernetic body and artificial muscles.
Lin Yue kicked Mann in the shin, but thinking it had no effect, he instinctively grabbed the muzzle of Mann's gun.
As the gunshot rang out, the neon sign behind Lin Yue went out rapidly. Mann felt a sharp pain in his calf and was also very surprised. How could this guy in front of him be so strong?
His hand felt like it was being held in a pair of pliers, so he suddenly threw Lin Yue against the wall, almost dislodging Lin Yue's internal organs.
Lin Yue couldn't stop complaining.
What a strong force.
"You're not the Ghost Dog?"
"and many more--"
"You're that idiot... Lin Yue?"
Lin Yue delivered a knee strike to Mann's abdomen, and the man immediately retaliated, throwing Lin Yue aside. He then got up, raised his gun, and attempted to hide in a nearby alley.
"boom!"
Mann's shoulder exploded in a cloud of blood!
"You bastard... your methods are quite impressive. What side are you on? How did you manage to get our information?"
Mann's voice came from afar.
Lin Yue had no intention of revealing that he knew all their names; this was his greatest reliance and secret.
"Go back to where you came from, understand? If the Ghost Hound comes, neither you nor I can leave." Lin Yue's temples throbbed, and he began to coax and deceive.
According to Hanz, the Ghost Hound was just a performance for Lin Yue, but not for them.
Fortunately, the prosthetic arm was tough enough and had a pain editor, so Mann's impact still gave Lin Yue a hard time, leaving his entire back numb.
The fight between Lin Yue and Mann was meaningless in itself.
The Cyberpunk team was afraid of being sold out, Lin Yue was afraid that the Cyberpunk team would cause trouble for the Colonel, and Mr. Hans did not want forces outside of Dogtown to get involved.
If Mann could listen to me calmly, that would be a different story.
"Believe it or not, the Ghost Hound patrol will be here in a little while. If the whole of Dogtown is mobilized, are you sure you can escape?"
Lin Yue thought to himself, "If it weren't for the reward, I would have sniped you to death. This guy's head is like a block of steel."
“Go back now. We’re all just trying to make a living. Hansen’s grudge will come back to the person or company that made you intercept the goods.”
Mann laughed heartily, his eyes behind his sunglasses filled with mockery.
"The Ghost Dog is really good at talking."
"Anyone who didn't know better would think you were Hansen."
"But I'm here today to fleece you, you idiot. No matter how much you know, do you think I don't understand that Hansen is protecting you?"
Lin Yue leaned against the wall. It seemed that persuasion was useless. The cyberpunk team had limited access to information, and they would deal with anyone who posed a threat.
There is no logic to this.
"Lin Yue! Hurry up and fix this! The hackers on the other side have already switched gears to hack the turrets!"
The hamster's voice in my ear was very unstable, as if it was about to disconnect at any moment.
Are the hackers in Mann's team really that good?
Lin Yue suddenly sensed something was amiss.
Just as he was looking for a route to stop fighting with Mann and find a new spot to snipe, the hamster suddenly screamed.
"Not some cyberpunk squad! They're military-tech hackers! Holy crap! Lin Yue!"
Amidst the noise and screams, the hamster fell completely silent.
at the same time.
"Mann, retreat quickly! Arasaka's attack is coming!"
Sasha's voice was weak. Mann roared, "Arasaka? Sasha?!"
Just as Lin Yue and Mann were facing off, the Ghost Hound's forces had already quickly gathered.
Lin Yue reacted immediately.
What? We're all just trying to make a living, there's no need to make things difficult for each other. Turns out this is a large-scale fishing operation!
So this is what the hell the surprise is all about!
While Lin Yue was still in a daze, a loud explosion came from the motel where gunfire was still going off in the distance, and many Ghost Hound drones appeared overhead, heading in that direction!
One of them spotted Lin Yue hiding below, and with a strange, melodious beeping sound, the friend or foe identification system quickly locked onto Lin Yue.
"Are you serious?"
Mann also sensed something was wrong, and the two of them were forced into an alley by a hail of bullets.
Qiuqiu continues reading.
My outline design is to throw the characters into the game to highlight the characteristics and style of Night City. The protagonist will not use any overpowered abilities, but will naturally establish connections with the legends, while also supplementing various events that happened before the 2077 game.
I will carefully design the plot to drive Lin Yue's growth and changes. Because it involves ensemble cast descriptions, the pacing will be a little slower. If you like this book, you can let it sit for a while, but please turn to the last page to follow along. If you have any questions, please let me know. I will consider the number of likes and revise the outline accordingly. Thank you!
