Cyberpunk: From Dogville to Legend

Chapter 12 The Wrath of the One-Armed Man

Chapter 12 The Wrath of the One-Armed Man

Tick.

The holographic phone call connected.

"Is the device plugged into Dogtown's network? How is it now?" A deep voice came from the other end of the phone.

Under the cover of night, the woman leaned against the car, wearing a sharp suit, spotless patent leather high heels, and the pale gold prosthetic parts of her hands subtly reflecting the light.

"It's all settled. Looks like the fight on the Ghost Hound's side is going to be quite intense. As for Hansen... he's still giving his personal speech, spewing filth like a piece of trash."

The woman waved her hand, shooing away some of the flies that had been attracted by a corpse next to the car, whose internal organs had been emptied by the cleaner.

Shortly after, my boss sent me some information from the Dogtown network.

"We've found out that people from Night City headquarters were involved in this treacherous affair."

The woman's eyes gleamed blue; the documents had been passed to her by her boss.

“Abnersey is riding high lately. That bitch is doing everything she can to wag her tail in front of the higher-ups, trying to steal my thunder—there are still several regional clients' orders that haven't been fulfilled yet, and this Dogtown deal has to be done flawlessly. In this round of counterintelligence human resources analysis review, you're on the promotion list.”

"Really? That's great." The woman from the company had a very pleasant voice, with a slight nasal tone, and spoke in a calm and unhurried manner.

The superior on the other end continued:

"Hansen wants us to lose business. This batch of goods was all transferred from Europe, and nominally it's goods that we're selling to foreign companies."

“But you know, we won’t fund warlords. Dogtown won’t let us in, so he can’t take our stuff either.”

"The executives who were involved in arms trafficking in Europe have been killed by our people. As for who in Night City did this, you'll have to find out for yourself. The Frankfurt deal is very important, and I have to keep an eye on it. We're at a crucial stage of the Cloud Sea Project now."

"I'm entrusting the affairs of Dogtown entirely to you. I need to see the report when I return."

The woman indicated she understood, "What about military technology?"

"Don't worry about it. They're afraid we're in cahoots with Hansen. Let those dogs do their thing."

The call ended, and the woman crossed her arms, watching the firefight below.

The Night City headquarters is haunted, and the counterintelligence department is most worried. They always end up cleaning up this mess – layoffs are the best-case scenario, because who knows, one day your employee ID might be revoked and a few company agents might come and take you away.

Then they'll clean you up completely, leaving not a single trace.

At that moment, there was a person at the scene of the gunfight down the mountain; he appeared on the list sent by his superior.

After a moment's thought, the woman turned around, opened the car door, and prepared to start the car. In the distance, several cleaners, poised to pounce, slowly surrounded her in the darkness.

"Kidney harvesting, interesting."

The woman stared at the group of people with great interest, her slightly thin and delicate face filled with a puzzled smile, while her prosthetic eye slowly turned red.

Suddenly, arcs of electricity erupted from the scavengers' heads, and the bloodstained butcher knives and baseball bats in their hands fell to the ground. Accompanied by a violent explosion of their prosthetic bodies, the prosthetic eyes of several of them flickered.

The car door closed, a puff of smoke rose from the burning tires, and a scavenger, still convulsing, bent over, trying to escape the state.

boom!
As the vehicle soared into the air, its red taillights disappeared down the end of Dogtown Highway...
-
The entire building materials area of the unfinished building was filled with the figures of the Ghost Hounds. Fighting against them was a cyberpunk squad and a sniper who was taking aim from a distance.

The encirclement by the Netherhounds ultimately forced two opposing factions to fight together.

Everyone is currently in a state of extreme exhaustion.

Lin Yue fired the last bullet into the head of an unlucky guy hiding behind a concrete barrier, and the big gun stopped working.

Without time to think, he could only continue to pull out the kinetic rifle from the other side of his back to fight back.

The Ghost Hounds are a gang army developed using military technology. They possess extremely strong tactical execution capabilities and are skilled in many urban warfare techniques.

The only saving grace is the complex terrain; if the Ghost Hound's armed vehicles could get in, the current situation would be immediately reversed.

After all, Lin Yue and his men didn't have any heavy weapons.

"careful!"

Pila, whose arms were covered in blood, had finished firing and was just about to bend down to reload when a gun barrel appeared from the side, almost touching his forehead.

Rebecca kicked her brother away, smashing the ghost hound's head to pieces.

"Mann!"

Dorio, who was seriously injured, crouched behind cover, her expression extremely grim.

As more and more hounds poured in, the situation began to turn rapidly, and Lin Yue and Mann's eyes met.

In a sense, they are temporarily in cahoots.

"Damn it!" Lin Yue was furious. "I told you to get out of here! Split up and go, or we'll be trapped here!"

Mann was speechless after being scolded by Lin Yue, and it seems that Lin Yue really has no intention of harming them.

The burly man looked up and surveyed the situation ahead, then immediately ordered his squad to retreat to the side. "Idiot, are you going to run away alone? Come this way!"

Lin Yue didn't want to follow this squad. Just when the fire line was so dense that no one could lift their heads, a series of mechanical noises reached their ears.

The Ghost Hound's mechs have entered the arena!
These former military technology robots, covered in graffiti by the Ghost Hound soldiers, have a white painted skull on the front and large-caliber machine guns and missiles on each of their arms. Such mechs are perfectly capable of traversing complex terrain on foot.

Lin Yue's eyes darted around, searching for a solution. He couldn't die here today, no matter what!
The mech turned into the construction site, and Lin Yue saw that the soldiers of the Netherhound were all hiding behind cover, waiting for this guy to be able to flatten the cover of Lin Yue and the others as soon as possible.

Peizhuo Petrochemical

Lin Yue saw the words written on a large, rusty can inside the broken steel next to the mecha.

CHOOH2?

This stuff is like gasoline, and Lin Yue immediately had an idea.

The Ghost Hounds' heavy firepower is concentrated in that position.

"Give me a decent weapon!"

Rebecca, who was in the distance, was holding two guns and immediately swung her shotgun over.

Lin Yue gripped the heavy weapon; although it wasn't Ironclad, it was sufficient.

So he moved nimbly and quickly toward the jar, and this action undoubtedly attracted the attention of the mech!

"Buzz!"

The machine gun locked onto Lin Yue, and a burst of bullets, sparks flying, struck behind him.

Lin Yue felt like his soul had flown away, but he had no choice but to grit his teeth and try to get as close to the metal can as possible.

"Look at me! You piece of trash!"

Rebecca's veins bulged on her forehead as she hurled a volley of bullets from another gun at the mech's hull, instinctively providing cover for Lin Yue.

Sensing the provocation, the large, armored vehicle immediately turned and began firing at Rebecca and her group, who were moving in the opposite direction from Lin Yue.

Because there was a blind spot between the mecha and Lin Yue, the leader of the Netherhound cursed the artificial idiot and began to concentrate its firepower on Rebecca and the others who were running.

"here!"

Lin Yue flashed out from in front of the petrified tank in Pei Zhuo. Rebecca's weapon had considerable recoil, and a shotgun shell hit the mech's outer shell directly. Sparks flashed from the mech's mechanical arm, and the outer shell was dented and pitted.

The moment the mecha turned around, Lin Yue immediately dodged.

The mecha's bullets were incredibly powerful, immediately striking the cans behind Lin Yue.

Lin Yue turned and ran away, unleashing his full potential, leaping high into the air, and a tremendous force suddenly erupted from his back!
He felt as if he had been kicked away with tremendous force, his back was numb, and the mech was now engulfed in flames!
Everyone, including the Ghost Hound, was stunned by the enormous buzzing sound!
A scene of utter devastation, wailing cries, and the sizzling sound of burning...

Mann shook the dust off his head, excitedly exclaiming, "That's awesome!"

Rebecca dropped her gun and rushed toward Lin Yue, who was trying to get up.

Lin Yue's mind was completely muddled. He couldn't hear anything, and in the distance, Rebecca's mouth was opening and closing, as if she was saying something.

Clang, clang, a tattered piece of steel, burning with flames, rolled toward Lin Yue.

The sound suddenly reached his ears, and by the time Lin Yue realized what was happening, it was too late to dodge—

A sharp-edged steel plate rolled across Lin Yue's prosthetic arm, and a severed arm crackling with electricity leaped high into the air.

When the pain flooded his mind, Lin Yue felt nauseous, and blood gushed from his mouth, dripping onto Rebecca's gun.

Lin Yue pushed the gun into Rebecca's arms as she helped him up, and at the same time pushed her away.

"You and your squad... get out of here."

Meanwhile, amidst the burning flames of the construction site, the wounded hounds struggled to their feet. Dorio lifted the dazed Rebecca, and the group disappeared into the endless ruins from the other side.

Lin Yue also struggled to his feet and dragged one leg as he fled towards the wasteland of Dog Town.

He had lost all interest in the numerous updated rewards that appeared on the panel.

Lin Yue only wanted to fleece the people who sold him out.

That's it.

Good luck on the college entrance exam!
