Doomsday America

Chapter 101 I Know What to Say

Chapter 101 I Know What to Say

"No problem, I'll tie them to the milking machine."

Eugene agreed and ran to tie up the horse, then went to the bulldozer and watched Steve drive it into the dairy farm.

After getting ready to work, Steve called out to Eugene.

"Hey buddy, open all the gates to the cattle pens for me, and while you're at it, get a truck and park it at the gate."

"Trucks? Ha, I actually know how to do that. Wait a minute."

Eugene agreed and busied himself opening all the gates of the fences, then went to drive a truck from afar.

Eugene parked the truck at the entrance of the dairy farm and went into the cow pen, watching Steve operate the forklift in a daze.

Steve maneuvered the bulldozer in an arc through the cattle pen, clearing away most of the cow dung, before noticing Eugene's gaze.

So he patted the control lever and laughed.

"Don't rush, buddy. Let me get to work first. Once we have the last few cattle pens left, I'll teach you how to use this thing."

"Anyone who can drive a car will have no problem operating a bulldozer. The key is to remember what each lever on the bulldozer does."

"Unfortunately, our farm is managed by professional cowboys, so nobody needs a user manual. I can't even remember where I put it."

"Otherwise, I should have found you a user manual so you could look at it for a while."

The two chatted and worked at the same time, and in just over thirty minutes, nearly a third of the dairy farm was cleaned up.

Steve glanced at the Optimus Prime-like pointed truck, then at the remarkably clean-looking dump truck mounted on the cab, and shook his head regretfully.

"Sorry, old buddy, I've dirtied your hard-earned truck again."

After praying to some old friend, Steve and Eugene climbed into the cab and drove off towards the composting center, pulling cow dung along.

Like most farms in Texas, Gavin Farm collects and centrally processes all its cow manure.

This process is not simply burying; instead, manure is first piled up, then a tractor-trailer is used to tow the compost pile several times to ferment it into organic fertilizer over time. Finally, the manure is transported to farmland for fertilization.

Gavin Farm also has such a processing center, where... thousands of tons of fertilizer are piled up...

If all that's missing is a tractor, the Gavinlai Fertilizer Processing Centre can actually take one away.

However, the focus of a tractor is the machinery it tows, and a waste processing center obviously wouldn't have machines for tilling and cultivating the land.

In short, after driving nearly twelve kilometers, Steve and his companion saw a large amount of cow dung at the processing center.

At this point, Eugene picked up HK and spoke to Steve from the passenger seat.

"We haven't explored this area before. I see a few houses over there, so what do you want to do? Be as cautious as the boss, or should we have Optimus Prime take us on some exciting adventures?"

"Of course we want to do something exciting!"

Steve smiled and answered Eugene, then looked at the composting center nearly 700 meters away.

"Although there are four houses over there, no one wants to stay there. Those houses are prepared for the cowboys to rest during the day."

"So, I guess they can't even muster five people there. Let's just rush over there and take care of them along the way."

As soon as he finished speaking, Steve drove the heavy truck straight towards the entrance.

When they were about 400 meters from the entrance, Steve even honked the horn in a high-profile manner.

As soon as the horn sounded, three zombies rushed out of the composting site in the distance, howling as they pounced on the heavy truck.

Eugene rolled down the car window and took out two of them with quick bursts of fire. As for the last one, Steve simply drove over it.

Steve drove the truck into the empty composting area, operated the vehicle, reversed it to lift the dump truck, and used the gradually decreasing gap between the front and rear wheels of the American-style trailer dump truck to support the lever and lift the dump truck, dumping the cow manure into the open area.

After finishing the dumping, the two continued their work in the car.

Although the dairy farm is large, after two days of drying, the cow manure is much easier to handle than on the first day.

Soon, they returned to the processing center with a second truckload of cow dung.

Seeing the truck preparing to dump manure, Eugene took a nasty breath and casually said to Steve.

"You go ahead with your work, I'm going to run the toilet."

"Yes, the toilet is over there."

Steve pointed to the toilet, while Eugene gave Steve the middle finger.

"Dude, there's cow dung everywhere here, do you think I still need to look for a toilet?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Eugene got out of the car, raised his middle finger, and walked around the front of the car towards a spot away from the cow dung.

He glanced at the manure pile privately a few times, but ultimately didn't want to get too close to the particularly smelly pile of manure. So he simply walked more than 150 meters to the wall of the composting yard and started draining the water.

While draining the water, Eugene took out a cigarette, trying to use the smoke to mask the stench filling his nose.

But just as he put the cigarette in his mouth, he suddenly couldn't help but look at the wall in front of him.

Wow... Wow...

On the other side of this wall, it looks like someone is rummaging through it!
"Fake!"

Eugene cursed and, with a cigarette dangling from his lips, desperately tried to increase the drainage, but the flow rate didn't change much.

As he drained the water, Eugene took two steps back; his instincts were screaming for help!
at the same time……

"Ah hoo!"

A sudden roar came from the other side of the wall, and a female zombie scrambled onto the top of the wall and hysterically flipped over from the other side.

Ignoring the fact that he had fallen into the water, the zombie immediately charged toward Eugene with wild abandon the moment he landed!

Seeing the zombie so close, Eugene quickly took another step back, finally managing to loosen his grip on his pants.

But he was only three or four meters away from the zombie, so as soon as he loosened his pants, the zombie pounced on him!

At this point, Eugene had already missed his chance to draw his gun. He instinctively grabbed the wrist of the zombie as it swung at him, and was then pushed to the ground by the zombie's full-force attack!
"Fake!"

Eugene panicked. He desperately grabbed the zombie's hands, pulling his arms between himself and the zombie.

While he was doing this, his guy was still there... stubbornly continuing to drain the water...

The zombie's hands were restrained, but it still desperately tried to tear at Eugene's face.

The zombie tried to reach for Eugene's face and neck several times, but it couldn't bite them at all, so it immediately turned its attention to Eugene's hands!

Eugene gripped the zombie's wrist, crossed its arms, and placed them against the zombie's front, his hands naturally close to the zombie's chin.

Seeing the zombie turn its head and aim at his hand, Eugene gritted his teeth and cursed. Then, while intermittently draining water, he separated the zombie's arms and flipped his body over, pinning the zombie to the ground.

"Fake!"

He cursed as he did so, but he dared not press the zombie's arms into a spread-eagle position, because if he controlled the zombie that way, his upper body would be too close to the zombie's mouth!

So he pressed the zombie's left arm to the ground with his right hand, while his left hand pressed the zombie's right hand firmly against the zombie's left waist.

The feeling of exerting force like this was very awkward. Eugene had to hold the upper body of the zombie to prevent it from biting him, while also being careful not to be scratched by the zombie's twisted fingers.

He usually wears gloves, but he doesn't wear gloves when he touches his own things!

Moreover, although the zombie was slender, Eugene couldn't subdue her instantly when she hysterically kicked and struggled with all her might.

For a moment, Eugene could only stare intently at the zombie's teeth and nails, while desperately trying to control the zombie's two arms with his hands, and then pressing his left knee down on the zombie's stomach.

At the same time, he was still stubbornly draining water while desperately stretching out his right leg to try and step on the zombie's right arm, so that he could free his hand to draw his gun!
A hundred meters away, a dump truck was dumping cow dung with a clanging sound, while Steve stared intently at the rearview mirror, habitually trying to avoid dumping the dung too crookedly.

Here in Eugene, there were occasional splashing sounds of water being drained.

At the same time, he stretched out his right leg and finally managed to step on the zombie's right hand after struggling with it for nearly two seconds!

“Fake Squid!!!”

At that moment, Eugene's right hand slid down his belt, reaching all the way to his knees, and he pulled out his pistol with gritted teeth.

Bang bang bang!

Eugene fired four shots in a row before finally managing to expel the last bit of water with the help of the gunfire.

"Phew... Fuck..." After confirming that the zombie was no longer moving, Eugene let out a long breath, slowly released the zombie, then shuddered violently, and then stood up wearily.

The whole thing lasted less than ten seconds, but Eugene was so exhausted that his legs were trembling.

At the same time, Steve finally heard gunshots, so he quickly climbed to the passenger seat, opened the window, and peered out at Eugene.

"What the hell is going on?!"

Upon seeing the situation, Steve immediately stopped dumping manure and rushed towards Eugene, drawing his gun and shouting at him.

"Are you alright, buddy?"

"what?"

Eugene answered in a daze, then finally looked at his pants as if he had just realized something.

"Shit!"

He cursed and quickly pulled up his pants.

After the cold wind blew through the wet pants, the slight warmth quickly faded, leaving only a chilly feeling.

Just like Eugene's feelings at this moment.

"Ruined……"

As Steve drew ever closer, Eugene suddenly felt that perhaps he should have died in the mouth of a zombie...

In the distance, Steve ran while staring in disbelief as Eugene pulled up his pants, then looked even more astonished at the water stains on them.

Noticing Steve's gaze, Eugene turned his head left and right to avoid Steve's eyes, while at the same time finding the cigarette he had spat out on the ground sometime during the night.

After confirming that the cigarette had been crushed in his fight with the zombie, Eugene shakily reached into his pocket, pulled out another cigarette, and put it in his mouth.

Ding……

After lighting the cigarette with a kerosene lighter, Eugene took two weary steps, leaned against the wall, and listlessly raised his head to look at the clouds drifting across the sky.

"Breathe...breathe..."

As the smoke gradually dissipated, Eugene felt that his pride had vanished along with the smoke.

Ah...it would have been better to have died a moment earlier...

"Fuck!"

Meanwhile, Steve, who had run nearby, finally got a clear view of the situation.

Looking at the ordinary-looking zombies on the ground, and then at their wet clothes and socks...

Steve swallowed hard and hesitated before asking Eugene.

"When you were relieving yourself... this thing..."

"Stop talking, please stop, buddy..."

Eugene suddenly felt like crying. The last time he felt this way was after his sniper partner of eight years died.

Hearing Eugene's words, Steve nervously looked around and continued to ask.

"Okay, I won't ask, but where did the zombies come from?"

"Behind the wall, damn it, the zombies must have been very close to the wall. There was absolutely no sound of footsteps. I'm pretty sure I didn't hear a single footstep before the zombies just jumped over the wall and charged over!"

At this point, Eugene couldn't contain his anger any longer and simply blew the cigarette he had just taken two puffs of onto the zombie.

Then, Eugene pulled out a small hammer and pounced on the zombie, smashing its head repeatedly.

dong dong dong dong!

Seeing Eugene venting his anger, Steve, gun in hand, cautiously looked around. After confirming that there were indeed no zombies in sight, he shouted at Eugene.

"That's enough, buddy, we need to go take a look over the other side of the wall!"

As they spoke, Steve walked to the wall, away from the marks Eugene had left on it, and jumped up to grab the wall with one hand.

Since manure is not easily stolen, the nearby wall was very low, less than 1.8 meters high, and there were no spikes or barbed wire. Steve climbed up it easily.

After his head passed over the wall, Steve looked around to make sure there was only grass outside and no other zombies, then he jumped over the wall and landed on the ground.

After Eugene smashed the zombie's face so hard it was completely dented, he finally vented his anger, then climbed over the wall and came to Steve's side.

Seeing Eugene approach, Steve pointed to the nearby footprints and said.

“There were originally two footprints here. The larger footprint lingered nearby for a while, constantly moving, very lightly and haphazardly.”

"As for the other smaller footprints, look here, there's a particular little footprint that's been stuck here for a while, the footprint is deep in, the zombie has obviously been standing here for some time."

At this point, Steve turned around and pointed to the numerous and messy footprints.

“Follow the footprints, buddy, the messy, large footprints eventually lead to the composting site entrance.”

"I think the last slowest zombie we took down at the entrance was left behind by the other zombies because he started his charge from here."

"As for why the man and woman were originally here, I am not curious at all, nor do I find it hard to guess."

"They were probably hunting in the wild here when they turned into zombies around the same time. However, the male zombie showed a clear reaction to our horn, while the female zombie..."

Steve swallowed hard, then looked at Eugene with a heavy gaze and said in a low voice.

“Other female zombie footprints can be seen nearby, but there are far fewer than those of male zombies. Moreover, this small, deeply sunken footprint proves that it suddenly stopped moving at least at some point and stood there motionless!”

"The truck's massive horn could definitely cover the entire composting plant, but the zombie remained in place until you were lucky enough to urinate on the other side of the wall, at which point it finally began its attack..."

"That wasn't luck, it was bullshit! I almost died, just a hair's breadth away!!!"

Upon hearing this, Eugene cursed and kicked the wall hard, so hard that a few water droplets splashed from his pants onto the wall.

Steve quickly stepped back a couple of paces, then stared at the zombie's deep footprints and said earnestly.

"Never mind your pee, buddy. There's a more important problem now, which is... this zombie seems to have stopped being interested in sound at some point, and it won't be easily lured away by sound anymore!"

"I don't know how many zombies will be like it, stuck in place after infection, not reacting even when they hear distant sounds, just like a spider waiting for its prey to come to it."

"I'm not sure if she was like this from the moment she turned into a zombie, or... if she suddenly changed from an ordinary zombie into what she is now."

"But I think we must tell the boss about this so he can make the judgment and decision, and at the same time avoid him encountering such a sudden and unpredictable crisis in his future explorations!"

"and many more!"

Upon hearing Steve's words, Eugene quickly interrupted him and asked.

"Is it possible that the zombie was deaf?"

"will not."

Steve quickly answered Eugene's question, pointing to his head as he spoke.

“I know a lot of people around the farm, including this woman. She works at a bar in Richard’s town and also works as a prostitute in town, but she’s not deaf, I know that very well!”

“It is precisely because I know her that I find this phenomenon unusual, and we must make sure Gavin is also on guard against similar situations!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Steve immediately pulled out his walkie-talkie.

At the same time, Eugene swallowed hard and then coughed twice.

"Ahem, bro, um... about my stuff... I mean my pants... ahem, our boss's got a lot on his plate, there's no need to talk about this, right?"

"Ok?"

Upon hearing Eugene's words, Steve turned to look at him, then pursed his lips and responded to Eugene as seriously as possible.

"Don't worry, buddy, I know what to say!"

"That's good……"

Eugene breathed a sigh of relief and then planned to find a river to quickly wash himself thoroughly. Even if he were to die from a cold, fever, or pneumonia, he would accept it!
It's better than social death!
As Eugene relaxed, Steve took a deep breath, then turned on the intercom and spoke rapidly.

Eugene wet his pants!
