Doomsday America
Chapter 67 1
Chapter 67 One Percent
The number of zombies was ultimately small. After Gavin and Eugene also began moving the corpses, a small pile of corpses appeared by the river outside the manor within minutes.
After throwing the last body onto the pile of corpses, Gavin wiped his blood-stained gloves on the ground and laughed.
"Guys, how does it feel? We've finally finished most of the work for today."
"Haha, that's fantastic! I'm definitely the one who deserves the most credit today, nobody can take it from me, nobody!"
Eugene boasted exaggeratedly to Gavin, then rushed to the garage and looked at the dazzling array of cars.
"We should go back and show them what we're made of, let them see what we're capable of, and while we're at it, let them see your luxury car, you rich guy, fuck!"
At this point, Eugene grabbed Old Man Mac and pointed to the monster ahead.
"Old Black, which car do you think would be better to drive back in? Knight XV? Or Cabernet Sauvignon? Or maybe just a Pagani?"
"I think it would be even more shocking if I pinned you down on my ass and rode you back like you were on drugs!"
Madison grumbled, then grabbed Eugene by the shoulder and dragged him to the front of the Kebohe Shield.
Seeing that Madison and the other man had chosen a car, Gavin went to the control panel next to the garage, found the corresponding key, threw it to Eugene, and said.
"You drive, how about it?"
"That's perfect! I absolutely love you, you're my angel!"
Eugene gave Gavin a dramatic flying kiss, then eagerly opened the car door.
Just as he was about to get into the car, he suddenly paused, then looked at his pants with disdain.
"Damn it, I'm covered in blood, this is fucking filthy!"
“The three of us are all filthy, which is incredibly disrespectful to our precious baby. I don’t want that…”
That's enough, buddy!
Before Eugene could finish speaking, Gavin picked him up and threw him into the driver's seat.
Gavin slapped Eugene hard on the shoulder and started cursing.
"Stop making such a fuss. Even if it's the best car, you'll get tired of it eventually, you idiot!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin got into the back seat of the Shield, while Eugene carefully started the car.
After examining the car for more than three minutes, Eugene cautiously drove it out of the garage and sped along the road toward the resort.
Feeling the roar of the battle shield, Eugene gripped the steering wheel, drool practically soaking his clothes.
Gavin leaned against the car window on the side of the forest, gazing at it silently in a daze.
Madison asked Gavin as he changed the shotgun's drum magazine.
"Boss, they're at Old Bert's house, they should be fine, right?"
"Who knows? But as long as they don't do anything foolish, what danger could possibly befall them?"
Gavin responded with a sound of agreement, then took out a cigarette, rolled down the car window, and puffed out smoke.
The smoke quickly rushed into the sunset, merging into the crimson sky.
Madison's gaze followed the dissipating smoke and gradually focused on the sun, which was now nearly half-disappeared.
Before the sun had completely sunk below the horizon, the Shield had already returned to the door of Old Bert's villa.
From a great distance, the family could hear the unfamiliar engine sound of the War Shield.
For a moment, William nervously gripped the USP and cautiously approached the doorway, speaking to everyone.
"Everyone get out of the way! Damn it, this car is definitely not a Raptor!"
"Are there more living people coming over?"
Bella didn't utter a word, then, with a displeased look on her face, casually shifted her position on the sofa.
Looking at Bella's expression, Winnie pursed her lips and whispered.
"A brainless idiot."
"What are you saying, brat!"
Although Bella didn't hear what Winnie was saying, she knew it wasn't anything nice, so she straightened up and glared at Winnie.
Seeing Bella's imposing manner, Doris nervously grabbed Winnie and whispered words of advice.
"Don't do this, darling, don't cause trouble, Bella did nothing wrong."
"She didn't cause any trouble, she's just a bit dim-witted, I can tell the difference!"
Winnie slapped Doris's hand away and glared fiercely at Bella.
At the same time, old Bert clapped his hands gently and spoke to the two women, one big and one small, to ease the tension.
"Don't make this old man laugh at you anymore, you little girls!"
"And you, William, stop showing off your lousy hiding skills! Your feet are sticking out the window!"
“It’s Gavin who’s back. I could hear the engine of the War Shield. That thing is a real treasure in Gavin’s garage. You can’t open his garage without his information.”
"Quiet down, everyone, Winnie, Bella. You don't want to see Gavin angry. Believe me, it's terrifying!" With that, old Bert wearily patted his back and then struggled to sit up straight on the sofa.
Meanwhile, the Kebohe War Shield circled into the villa area and stopped in front of the villa gate.
From a distance, Eugene rolled down his car window and waved to William.
"Haha, William, come and see my big treasure!"
"We're rich, man! The quarterback's estate is full of Paganis. I bet the governor's garage doesn't even have that many Paganis!"
"And I killed more than ninety zombies, more than ninety, all by myself!"
As Eugene finished speaking, William, guided by old Bert, opened the manor gates. Everyone in the villa, except for old Bert, awkwardly came out to greet him.
Eugene excitedly stopped the car, jumped out, and patted the tall hood of the Battle Shield to show William.
And Gavin.
After getting out of the car, he frowned and looked at the group of people with strange expressions, his eyes sweeping over each of their faces.
After circling around, Gavin sighed and asked.
"The atmosphere doesn't seem too good. What, did you all get together and fight while we were away?"
After saying this, Gavin put the rifle back in the car and walked into the villa with a relaxed expression.
Winnie was the first to rush behind Gavin, keeping up with his pace while hurriedly saying to him.
"Boss, we started arguing not long after you left. I really admire Sister Bella; I learned a lot of swear words from her!"
"You! Kid, stop tattling on me!"
Bella was so embarrassed she wanted to bury her head between her toes.
Gavin then went to the sofa, sat down unceremoniously, tapped the armrest, and asked Bella a question.
"You had a fight? That's quite interesting. Tell me why?"
"I……"
When Gavin asked her a question, Bella bit her lip and lowered her head, and the atmosphere in the hall immediately fell silent.
After nearly five seconds of silence, Winnie moved closer to Gavin's sofa, looked at Bella with obvious displeasure, and said...
"Actually, it's nothing serious, boss. It's just that after we had lunch, Sister Bella was thinking about her family!"
“Even I, a child, know that she couldn’t possibly run all the way from Texas back to New York to find her family by herself, but Bella is actually foolish enough to plan to leave!”
"William didn't want Bella to die, so he stopped her. Then Bella and William had a fight, and we...we couldn't help but join in..."
"That's basically it. I guess Bella has figured it out by now..."
As soon as she finished speaking, Winnie gave Bella a defiant look.
Bella glared at Winnie sheepishly, then looked at Gavin with a sad expression.
Meeting Bella's gaze, Gavin glanced at William.
Seeing this, William shrugged and said with a bitter face.
“Gavin, if Bella’s family were in Texas, then I… might let her leave. After all, I have no right to stop her from finding her loved ones.”
“But her family is in New York, and she’s just going to college in Texas. Even if her family were still alive, she couldn’t possibly make it into New York City alive!”
At this point, William looked at Bella with a face full of helplessness and admonition.
Bella bit her lip and nodded sadly.
Upon hearing this, Gavin nodded in understanding and then smiled at everyone.
"That's right, it's good to have an argument once in a while, at least it can relieve stress."
"Since we didn't really get into a fight, let's get to work. We need to move into my house."
"Before the sun sets, Old Mike will drive the RV, I'll drive the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Eugene will drive the Battle Shield. Let's set off right away."
"We can talk about it when we get to my house. That's all for now!"
What do you mean by arguing?
Gavin saw it all too clearly; it was nothing more than an emotional outburst.
Gavin is far from the only one who lost family members today; everyone here has lost far too much today.
When Gavin was there to keep them in check, everyone could still tolerate it, but once Gavin left, they were all alone, especially since there were three more sentimental women among them.
Their emotions will naturally become problematic.
To deal with this emotional problem, just show them the piles of corpses in the manor area.
After all, a sense of crisis and the pressure to survive can resolve 99% of team conflicts.
Gavin only needs to solve the last one percent.
