Doomsday America

Chapter 93 On the right track

Chapter 93 On the right track
As soon as he finished speaking, Gavin took off his jacket and put his hands inside his boxing gloves.

After lightly exchanging two punches, he climbed over the boxing ring and kicked Eugene on the ground with disdain.

"Come on, make way for the next person, let me meet the King of the World!"

"Phew... Fuck, my intestines feel like they're all tangled up. Just let me catch my breath, just a little while longer..."

Eugene waved weakly at Gavin, then sat there and continued to stare blankly.

Seeing Eugene's listless appearance, Gavin turned to Madison with amusement and asked.

"What's going on, Old Mai? How long did you play with him?"

"Boss, you can't blame me for this. I swear we only exchanged less than five punches!"

Madison innocently bumped his fist against Madison's.

"I didn't expect Red Hair to be so fragile. He's a former soldier, after all, and I didn't intend to hold back..."

"Fuck you, Madison! Even if I've been in the military, can't you even imagine how much of a difference there is between us?!"

Eugene grew angrier and angrier. He finally got up from the ground, clutched his stomach, and dry-heaved twice.

After straightening up, he clutched his stomach and moved aside, continuing to mutter curses.

“I weigh less than 150 pounds, while you weigh almost 300 pounds. If I had a dagger, do you think I would deal with you…”

"Even if you have a dagger, it won't work, buddy. My fighting skills were trained by the boss. There's a huge difference in our height and weight. I'll be gentler with you next time."

Old Mike interrupted Eugene, gesturing for him and Gavin to make way.

Seeing this, Eugene approached Gavin with a displeased expression and said fiercely.

"Boss, teach him a lesson for me. He just wanted to be the king of the world, so he must be eyeing your position!"

"Haha, you're right, I'll try my best~"

Gavin punched Eugene in the chest with his boxing gloves, and only then did Eugene walk off the ring, satisfied.

It wasn't until Eugene left the ring that Madison got serious, raised his hands into a boxing stance, and began to jump around the ring.

Watching Madison hopping from side to side, Gavin clenched his fists and laughed.

"Stop jumping around like that. You know those fancy moves don't work on me. Come on, let's get you through first!"

"Don't lie to me, boss. You let me attack first, and I fell for it. I've lost so many times like this!"

Madison didn't believe Gavin's advice at all, so he desperately tried to get away from Gavin, jumping around until he almost leaned against the fence.

Below the boxing ring, Doris found a few bottles of mineral water, left two for Madison and Gavin, and gave one of them to Eugene.

Eugene was sitting there resting when a bottle of water was suddenly shoved in front of him, and he immediately stared at Doris in a daze.

Doris felt a little nervous under Eugene's stare, so she pursed her lips and said...

"Although I didn't see it, you must have played very seriously. You'll need this."

As soon as she finished speaking, Doris handed the bottled water to Eugene, then returned to Winnie's side to watch the boxing match with the excited little girl.

As for Eugene, he stared blankly at the water in his hand for a full ten seconds before gritting his teeth and looking up at the ring.

Seeing that Madison was still dawdling, Eugene immediately roared.

"What the hell are you doing, nigger? You're practically running back to Chicago!"

"Go on, hurry up! You're at least a hundred pounds heavier than the quarterback, have all your guts gone into your muscles?!"

"Fuck you, shut up!"

On the ring, Madison yelled angrily at Eugene, then finally approached Gavin.

As Old Mike approached, Gavin chuckled and hopped a couple of steps, tentatively waving his left hand at Old Mike.

Old Mike instantly broke away again; he dared not take Gavin's punch, because he knew that kind of punch was heavier than Tyson's!

But now that Gavin has already entered the game, Old Mac can no longer afford to hide and stall for time.

Seeing Old Mike retreat, Gavin stepped forward, his fists suddenly swinging out like mantis shrimp towards Old Mike's defensive arms.

dong dong dong dong!

In just a few seconds, countless sounds of blows came from the ring.

Even though Old Man tried to block with his arms, he only managed to hold out for a dozen or so punches before Gavin found an opening and punched him in the ribs.

"vomit!"

Old Mike, barely suppressing the urge to vomit, slammed a punch into Gavin's chest.

But before Old Man's fist could move halfway, Gavin nimbly bypassed his striking direction and delivered a hook punch from below, slamming it into Old Man's chin!

Boom!
Old Mike's massive body lay heavily on the stage, his braces flying out of his mouth, and his eyes becoming glazed.

"Great! This is exactly what I wanted to see!"

Eugene cheered and, ignoring the pain in his stomach, rushed onto the ring with a strange cry, clutching his water bottle as he counted down for Old Man Mike.

Below the ring, Winnie and Doris stared in astonishment, mouths agape.

They thought Gavin would win, but they never expected that Gavin, who was fighting Madison across several heavyweight classes, would be able to prevent Madison from even making a single effective counterattack!
As for Gavin, he shook his boxing gloves, squatted down next to Eugene who was counting down, and asked.

"Stop counting down for him. When I was on the team, I used to box with Mike. Mike would usually be knocked out for about forty seconds, which is already one of the three shortest times on the team."

"There's no fun in fighting Old Mike. I'm tired of his tricks. Why don't we give it a try? I see you're quite interested in sparring with me."

At this point, Gavin patted Eugene on the shoulder.

Upon hearing this, Eugene paused slightly after reading the countdown to seven, then looked up at Gavin and said with a grin.

"You've already hit him, so you can't hit me too, especially since I'm the referee!"

"Tch, boring."

Gavin smiled as he took off his boxing gloves, bent down and crawled through the fence, stretching his arms as he walked to the treadmill.

After adjusting his speed, Gavin didn't say anything, but maintained a speed of 33 km/h and kept running.

Seeing Gavin start exercising, Doris and her companion also gathered around the treadmill, selected their own speeds, and began running.

When Madison woke up, he looked at the treadmill in a daze and nodded helplessly.

"That's right, I shouldn't have practiced any boxing. Who the hell would fight zombies with their fists?"

"Boss, should I change the direction of my training from strength and explosive power training to endurance and speed training?"

"of course."

Gavin shouted at Madison without turning his head.

At this point, everyone got into training mode, but after only ten minutes, Winnie and Doris stopped and went to practice something else.

Old Mike and Eugene ran for a longer time, a full thirty or forty minutes, before they went to the side to play on the gantry.

Bella also came to the gym to start exercising at this time.

After Gavin had finished his workout, only Bella and Madison remained in the gym.

Gavin greeted the two of them, took a shower, and went back to his room to rest.

At midnight, Gavin, who had taken a nap, got up to stand guard and then, without noticing anything, waited until 2 a.m. before waking Eugene.

After going back to his room to continue sleeping, Jia Wenben thought he could sleep until 7:30.

However, before dawn, he was awakened by a voice coming from the walkie-talkie.

"Boss, boss, are you awake, boss?"

Eugene kept calling out to Gavin over the intercom, which made him reluctantly get up.

“I’m here, what is it?” Gavin replied.

"This is Steve, I'm here too. Are there any zombies attacking?" Steve asked into the walkie-talkie.

"I woke up too, and it startled me. Redhead, you better not be playing a prank on us!"

Madison also cursed over the intercom.

Meanwhile, Eugene stood on the east side of the manor's veranda, holding his binoculars and speaking helplessly into the walkie-talkie.

"How could I possibly play a prank at a time like this? But instead of zombies, it's a herd of cattle!"

"Damn it, those cows have been grazing all the way over the pasture. I'm worried that the cow dung they leave behind will cover up the smell of grass around the manor tomorrow morning!"

"Fake..."

Upon hearing Eugene's words, Gavin immediately sobered up!

The more than 200 tons of cow dung left at the dairy farm haven't been cleaned up yet, and a large herd of cattle has already grazed all the way to the farm. That's nearly 80,000 cows; every time they pass by, they leave behind at least several hundred tons of cow dung near the farm!
Moreover, this kind of cow dung is much more difficult to handle than the concentrated cow dung from dairy farms!
Gavin quickly put on his clothes, grabbed his pistol and ammunition belt, and left the room.

When he arrived at Eugene's place, Madison and Steve had also gotten up, dressed, and joined them.

Standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window of the east corridor of the manor, Gavin, holding binoculars, looked wearily at the herd of cattle.

Just as Eugene had said, the herd was less than two kilometers from the estate, and although they were not moving fast, they were steadily approaching it.

After confirming the situation, Gavin sighed in frustration and waved to the crowd.

"Eugene will continue to keep watch, and also keep an eye out for any strangely behaving zombies or zombie animals that might provide us with support."

"Madison is keeping a close eye on our calf pens to prevent our cattle from breaking away from the pens in order to rejoin the herd."

“Steve and I will fire a few shots to drive the cows back towards the pasture!”

As he spoke, Gavin pulled the handle of the French windows inward, and the heavy windows began to move slowly.

A few seconds later, the floor-to-ceiling window moved mechanically along the sliding rails, creating a passageway of nearly 1.2 meters.

Gavin stepped through the French windows onto the balcony, went to the railing, and jumped down.

Steve and he ran up the fence, climbed over to the first floor, and rode their horses towards the herd of cattle.

As Steve approached the herd, he looked around and said something.

"There doesn't seem to be any sign of the zombie cow."

"Yes, that's good news. Fire."

Gavin fired several shots from a distance, forcefully using the gunfire to suppress the cattle and make them run in the opposite direction.

The enormous herd of cattle struggled to turn around and continued to slowly walk into the distance.

Gavin and his companion rode around the two-kilometer radius of the estate, waiting for a full half hour until they were sure the cattle had completely disappeared before returning to the estate, looking exhausted.

In the second-floor corridor, Eugene and Madison leaned listlessly against the glass, waving to Gavin from afar.

"it's over?"

"Okay, it's over. I can sleep for another two hours..."

Gavin glanced at his watch; it was 5:12, and the sun was already showing signs of rising.

After waving goodbye to everyone, Gavin walked back to his room. Doris's door slowly opened, and Winnie, wearing a light blue nightgown and barefoot, peeked out from the crack in the door.

Gavin casually tapped Winnie's head and said.

"Remember to wear slippers."

"what?"

Winnie never expected Gavin to say this to her first thing, so she stood there dumbfounded.

It wasn't until Gavin went back to his room that Old Mike and Steve, still half asleep, passed by her and casually said something to her.

“It’s okay, go back to sleep,” Steve said.

"Hmm, it's just a herd of cows. This is the first time I've ever been so annoyed by cows. How about we slaughter one tomorrow to vent our frustrations?"

Madison made a joke, then went inside to continue resting.

Seeing that the two of them had both returned to their rooms, Winnie sighed from inside the doorway and quietly closed it.

And so, two hours later.

Gavin got out of bed at exactly 7:40.

Until the third day of the apocalypse, which is after this morning.

The belated feeling of exhaustion finally hit Gavin.

On the day of the apocalypse, Gavin was filled with tension. He didn't sleep well the first night and got up to walk his dog in the early morning.

Even now, while on duty, I've dealt with another batch of cattle along the way.

Damn it, Gavin rubbed his head, and he began to miss life before the apocalypse.

Shaking his head to dispel the lethargy, Gavin took a shower.

Looking at his reflection in the full-length mirror, constantly dripping with water, he leaned against the waterproof and fog-proof mirror and said, looking at himself inside.

"I must remind you, living too excitingly in the apocalypse is not a good thing."

After saying that, Gavin turned off the tap, composed himself, and put on his clothes.

After tidying up his gear, he went to the corridor, greeted William who was on guard duty, and then went to sit down in the restaurant.

As everyone gradually arrived at the restaurant, Eugene, the last to arrive, didn't start eating until 8:10, looking drowsy.

Gavin observed everyone's condition. The logistics staff were doing well, but Eugene and the others were all in a slightly worse state than yesterday.

Gavin couldn't help but shake his head.

Ultimately, we are still too short-staffed.

This phenomenon would not occur if there were enough field personnel to take turns conducting exploration activities.

Even though everyone was a little tired, Gavin still arranged the day's work after dinner.

"Doris, Winnie, Bella, you two tidy up the courtyard as you did yesterday, explore the manor rooms and the old manor area, and old Bert and William take turns on guard duty."

"As for all fieldwork, let me think about it..."

Gavin pondered for a moment, then raised his hand and spoke to Eugene.

"Eugene, this morning, could you feed the cattle and horses at home, and then... do you know how to milk cows?"

"what?"

Upon hearing this, Eugene jumped up immediately and cursed.

"I'm a fucking observer... no, I'm a full-fledged sniper now, and you, boss, actually made me stay home and squeeze clams!"

"But on the way to the manor, didn't you say you really wanted to deal with Niu Naizi?"

Gavin interrupted Eugene, teasing him with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Eugene shrugged, looking completely bewildered.

"But I've never milked a cow. My family doesn't own a farm. All I know how to do is play with guns!"

"This kind of thing would be the same if it were a cow. I'm still only good at handling guns. I don't know how to milk cows. Do you want me to help the damn bull fire a few shots?"

"Shit!"

Upon hearing Eugene's words, Doris and the other two instantly turned red, while Gavin punched him in annoyance.

As Eugene was beaten and bent over, old Bert sighed and spoke from a distance.

“Let Eugene push me there. There’s a small medical center in your dad’s house with wheelchairs.”

"I'll take the red-haired soldier to milk the cows. I'll teach him how to knead those things, and we can also feed the chickens while we're at it."

“God, this is the worst period for Gavin Farm. We can’t even gather a hundred cows, and we only have one qualified cowboy to take care of the family.”

"But that's nothing. As an old man, I always have something to teach you youngsters."

At this point, old Bert waved to Eugene, who nodded, seemingly helpless but actually relieved.

He slept for less than five hours last night, and he is used to light sleep, the kind of sleep where he gets up immediately at the slightest noise.

I am indeed a bit sleepy right now.

Even though he was exhausted, he didn't want to waste time, so he added to old Bert.

"Maybe I could also get some wood and build a real shooting range behind the manor, the kind where you can shoot from a kilometer away!"

"What the hell? I thought I was going to live on the battlefield, but instead I'm going to be milking cows. What kind of nightmare is this?"

"Guys, boss, without my help as the God of War, you'd better be careful when you're exploring!"

"Also, I really hope you can bring back some new people to help us with the work, at least to replace me as a milkmaid!"

Upon hearing Eugene's words, Gavin couldn't help but pat Eugene on the shoulder and offer some words of advice.

"You might run into new people even if you stay at home. Don't forget, we at least nailed down three signs yesterday; maybe a survivor will come knocking on our door today."

“If anyone does come looking for you, Eugene, you’d better not use the same tactics you used on me against them, lest you scare the survivors away or cause them to start a firefight with you!”

"No matter what, communicate well and try your best to keep everyone here!"

"If the survivors insist on leaving the camp and only intend to exchange supplies with us, then at least keep them until I return so I can talk to them in person!"
